Yep – and I believe her last appearance on “Malcolm” was when she came back and was constantly wearing jackets and baggy clothes to hide her new boobs. And when Malcolm and Reese found out about them, they were competing for her attention.
Yep, she grew up good…
Yeah, I was also wondering why it seemed abandoned, but then again, there was Bluebeard’s cap, ratty clothes, and fake beard there. So unless he has an extra supply of those stashed elsewhere, it would seem that the Others have been back to that bunker fairly recently.
Yep. What a great episode. It really did answer some key questions, namely if Ethan and Bluebeard (and Goodwin) were all workig together. I recognized Bluebeard’s voice right away, but had some doubts once I say his face. I thought the beard might be a prop, and if you think back on those episodes, the beard did look very fake. Maybe we just assumed it was sub-par makeup.
Great episode. We know for certain that Alex is alive and that she is not fully under the spell of The Others. But the writers had to open a whole new can of worms, didn’t they? In what way is Eko communicating with The Others? Is he really ready to join in their cause, as the dialogue would suggest, or is he just being enigmatic again?
Didn’t recognize her from Malcolm…but thanks for jogging my memory! And in a few weeks I don’t have to feel dirty about thinking about her. She turns 18 on March 22.
So that’s 3 bunkers. How many more are there? When the 2nd one was found I suspected a total of 3…thinking of the Trinity and all. But someone suggested there are 6 for the six-sided Dharma logo, amongst other reasons. I’m now officially leaning toward six.
That’s probably sensible of you.
The Orientation film titles started with:
The Dharma Initiative – 3 of 6 – Orientation
and then Orientation - Station 3 - The Swan
And it listed six fields of research (including electromagnetism) that the Dharma Initiative embraced, specifying that Station 3 was devoted to electromagnetic research.
I think it’s been pretty clear from the beginning that there are six stations.
As soon as Locke said that, I thought “What is he going to tell him? ‘Oh, don’t mind that alarm. That means we have to push … the button… to… avoid… defcon penguin…’?”
Anyone notice that the theatrical glue was in the same type of bottle (marked Rx-1) and about the same color? Odd. When I first saw it I thought “the secret vaccine is theatrical glue. Hmmmmmmm.”
Does this blow the theory that bluebeard is Degroot? I recall comparing pictures of him and bluebeard… but clean shaven, from memory, the resemblence isn’t very strong.
I don’t think it was that enigmatic. He was asking for forgiveness for bashing two of balloon boys people with a rock. Fits right in with the long period of silence after the assault.
Anybody else get the feeling that the others didn’t exactly send the A team out to replace Ethan? Came over in a balloon my bottom. Next Other they run into is going to say that he was blown all the way over from Kansas by a magic tornado. That would give them a good way to get rid of Ana Lucia though. Drop a house right on her.
I’m wondering if the whole Locke vs. Jack thing is a setup to find out what side Henry HotAir is on. I can see Locke possibly falling for it, but the whole Karamazov is just too coincidental.
Let’s talk about the vaccine. Do you think Ethan and the Others were really trying to save Claire’s baby? I know at the end Alex(?) said they were going to cut Claire open and take the baby and that’s why she rescued her. Why is Alex not indoctrinated like Ethan and the rest? Was the baby really sick and the “vaccine” really saved him, or were they injecting him with something else?
Was Ethan a real doctor? What drug could they have given Claire that would have left her calm and agreeable, yet still able to knit a baby bootie and talk coherently, but not harm the baby?
No Sayid or Charley.
Did Desmond ever say how he was racing around the world? Could it have been by hot air balloon? If they find a ballon, could it be Desmond’s Henry is using as his backstory?
Desmond was sailing, not ballooning.
I thought he was sailing around the world?
My speculation on who the him is above that Zeke was talking about
I think its either this guy Alvar Hanso or this guy Dr. Marvin Candle both from the video
Great episode. I loved that the flashbacks were ON the island. This episode COMPLETLY drove the main plotline.
I feel like we got a ton of answers this week…but I am as confused as ever.
I think “him” from BB’s speech is Hanso.
Also, right before we saw Ethan, when he was opening the medicine cabinet, I convinced myself that one of the hands was wooden (I thought it was M. Candle).
It is funny that you get so into the Lost subculture, that it affects your perception while watching the show!
…and was the lab abandoned right after Claire escaped or after Claire made the decision to return? I wondered about the fact that a lot of materials (flashlights, costumes, etc) were left in the lab. It appeared to have been emptied in a hurry.
I’m not convinced Libby is legit. If she is an “other” she may have had a way to warn them of Claire’s return.
did anyone else have an Oz flashback and think that Adebisi was stepping into his cell to have his way with his new bunk mate, Henry Gale?
On this show? Not a chance. Nobody says anything to anybody else. If they did, the show would be over in three episodes.
Yep. That would explain why the refrigerator got knocked over.
And there should have been much, much more exploration of the new area, and grabbing of flashlights, if nothing else.
Had to be.
When he was deliberately being concealed behind the door I said to the girlfriend:
Me: That sounds exactly like bluebeard.
Her: Bluebeard?
Me: The guy with the beard who stole WAAAAAAAALT
(seconds pass - we see his face)
Me: Damn, I guess not. But he sounded exactly like him.
I’ve got a pretty good aural memory - and ears that can hear the bubbles popping in a Pepsi can from across the room. It’s actually quite annoying.

So…
Henry Gale?
Came over in a Balloon?
And wasn’t Dorothy’s uncle named “Henry” too?
That’s just too…
It’s too.

What really confused me a middlewoman was Ethan’s conversation with Claire on the log. His words seemed benign but his actions have always proved otherwise.
I think the Others may really believe they are good guys.
One thing that strikes me is that if the girl from Malcolm in the middle was Alex, and she helped Claire escape, what is she doing firing a gun at Sawyer?
Maybe she was supposed to help Claire escape. Because I had the same thought as ivylass. If alex had been raised by an other (heh), it would seem she would be loyal to them.
