Lost 2.6: "Abandoned"

Was it just my imagination, or did one of the Taillies (Bernard, I think?) have something written or tattooed on his hand? Can anyone check it out? I think I saw it when they stopped in that field…

Also, a lot of the spoilers I read were saying that we’d see Shannon’s first husband…did I miss that part somehow? Was it in the “extra secret scene” that was supposed to be shown on the Today show (or whatever show it was)?

If that turns out to be true, then I’ll speculate that

she was fired for mistakenly shooting someone she shouldn’t have

I thought we were going to get some of that, too–thought she was going to marry the French guy from the first scene. I happened to catch the tail end of the deleted scene this morning, and it appeared to be nothing more than Shannon and her stepmother cleaning up after the wake, and Mommie Dearest more or less asking Shannon when she was going to leave. But I hadn’t had any coffee yet, I may have misinterpreted.

Dude … look at his eyes! Those are totally Ian Somerholder’s eyes.

Didn’t we see her having a drink at the airport bar when she made her first appearence in the season finale last year? Unless she has other issues an undercover Marshal wouldn’t be getting a buzz on prior to the flight. Perhaps she’s an ex-Army/Marine Corps (hard not to think of Pvt. Vasquez from Aliens), maybe even a Gulf War I/II veteran, giving her a connection with Sayid.

Vincent has now lost two masters. Poor doggy. Bad luck, that doggy has. :frowning:

I’m sorry, but this episode just pissed me off.

How can someone, Sawyer or Michael (let him die, let him die!) not say, “Look, bitch, tell me what the hell is going on right now. What’s going to come to kill us? Are they people? Are they velociraptors? Should I be keeping my eyes open for macaws with razor sharp fangs and adamantine razors on their wingtips?”

Instead, no, we’re being stalked by something SuperDuperEvilHellishAndCruel (or so we’re told) but nobody tells us what to look for. We’re all supposed to be as quiet as possible so they don’t find us but that doesn’t stop us arguing every five minutes, nor does it stop Michelle “Calling me a nuclear shitbomb wrecking the show” Rodriguez from barking orders at everyone constantly.

Of course, this brings up the big question: What the hell was the point of Boone and Shannon even being around? What story purpose did they serve? In the end they’re actually less important than Arzt.

Apparently the Others have a habit of trying to sneak up on your group while yelling “Waaaaaaaaaalt!” and loosing a golden lab at you. Or something.

I forsee both Sawyer and Shannon surviving long enough for Jack to have to decide who to save thereby completing the trifecta of not being able to save any of the Rutherfords.

I wonder if the tail section survivors all have “daddy issues” in their backstories?

I wondered why Vincent went to Boone’s grave too. Maybe Walt had been there before? And I see that I was not the only one who thought of Boone’s vision of Shannon dying when we saw her bleeding in the riverbank - my first thought was that Boone’s vision had come true. I wonder if Locke will remember it when he hears what happened to Shannon?

Did anyone else notice that it was pouring rain for Shannon and Sayid but not the tail sectioners? What was up with that?

I think that the kids will be children from the tail section of the plane. What is the Others’ fascination with children? I bet it won’t be long before they go after Claire’s baby. Maybe the tail section people will lead the Others to the main group and they will start having more trouble with them too. Speaking of Claire, Charlie needs to cut her some slack. It’s her first baby, she hadn’t intended on keeping him to begin with, and they are on an island! Jeez, if she wakes him up once big deal! I was glad Locke pointed out to him that he really is not one to lecture anyone about responsibility.

Waaaaaalt really did have a growth spurt! He looked about 3 years older!

[Completely Unrelated Story]When my nephew was still an infant, my sister-in-law woke him up for comfort after watching The Blair Witch Project because my brother had to go to the video store to return it, and she didn’t want to be alone. Nobody yelled at her, not even the baby. :)[/CUS]

Anybody think Charlie might have popped off for a quick snort just before the scene where he found Locke with Claire and the baby? Kinda jittery, he was.

And note Libby’s interest in the children… I din’t think Ethan was one of The Wild/Evil Others, I think he was one of the other Others-- maybe in league with the Boat People. Libby wants to know if the kids are still alive for the same reason Ethan wanted to get his hands on some children (not in a Michael Jackson sort or way…).

I’m not sure there is only one set of “Others”. I doubt that Ethan was part of the Evil Others that have been harrasssing the tail-section folks. I think he’s with the Boat People, and that together they represent a different group of “Others”.

Foreshadowing, perhaps?

Vincent sez: Hey, remember Boone? You’ll be seeing him again soon!

I must admit…this first opportunity I had not to read a silenus spoiler box…I read the silenus spoiler box.

But … Boone was a Carlisle

Shh, it’s a nice theory. And I think it was spelled Carlyle on the grave marker.

I caught the extra scene this morning. It was just a scene with Shannon and Evil Step-Mom washing up in the kitchen after the wake. Here’s roughly what went on:

Evil Step-Mom: Who in hell brings beef stroganoff to a wake?

Shannon: Dad loved beef stroganoff.

E S-M: Well, he sure can’t eat it now.

More talk, coming to the conclusion that the only thing that Shannon and Step-Mom had in common was that they both loved Dad.

Evil Step-Mom: So, by the way, how soon can you move out?

I don’t think ESM loved Dad, I think she loooooved his money, though. Cha-ching.

You’re right, “nice person” probably isn’t the best word for it. Does “not such a bad person” work better?

I don’t understand her motivations, or where the writers were planning to go with her. First she’s a spoiled self-centered brat. Then she has asthma, which I guess was supposed to get her a tiny bit of sympathy. Then she’s back to her old ways, looking cute so Charlie will catch fish for her. A couple times the writers made it seem like maybe she was growing up and learning to stand on her own two feet. But then I had to sneer at Sayid a bit when I saw he’d built her a house. Sheesh. Men are so predictible sometimes. Teach her how to build her own shelter!

I also don’t understand why she won’t take Boone’s money, but then she’ll try to swindle money from him. I really don’t get why her father wouldn’t have made provisions for her in his will. Unless she really is a total lost cause and daddy actually intended she not get a cent. But that doesn’t make sense. She was teaching a dance class at least! That’s something! Not like she sits around smoking pot all day.

So is Walt some kind of banshee type character? If he appears to you, death is imminent? Is it tied to the dog also? I was wondering why the dog took shannon to Boone’s grave too. Is that a dog’s way of saying, “Boone dead. You dead next.”

I can’t agree more with everyone who thinks "when you’re in the jungle and a ghost-kid appears out of nowhere and says “shhh!” then SHHH THE HELL UP!!!

Now many of you feel Ana-Lu-didn’t-seeya has had gun training, and sure it was raining, but obviously her gun training didn’t include identifying your target before firing that one bullet from the one gun.

The following really is only speculation. But just in case it’s true…
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that AL didn’t shoot Shannon. Maybe someone we couldn’t see killed her.

I was looking at some screencaps online and Shannon’s wound didn’t look like a bullet wound. It was large and long like she’d been speared. Perhaps AL came upon someone stabbing her and fired at the person/s who killed Shannon.
