Lost 2.6: "Abandoned"

As loathe as I am to defend Ana-Lucia, why wouldn’t she shoot Shannon? She could have been an Other…

Well, at this point, she’s certainly going to have a hard time merging into our group of survivors. Will she choose to live with the Beachies or the Cavies? They might both decide they hate her, at this point.

I think so to.

That is the word from some of the spoiler sites. Rambina gets the blame, but somebody else comes forward later and admits doing the deed instead. No clue who. Maybe Kate? But why?

Rambina must die. Painfully and slowly. I absolutely loathe the character. I can’t see any kind of backstory that can redeem her, at least in my eyes. So dog-food she must become, and soon!

Someone earlier asked if Shannon could be explicitly disinherited by her father. Well, she could, but she wasn’t. The Evil Stepmom says that her father had a living trust. So her father’s money went to Evil Stepmom and however the living trust is set out, it’s likely that Evil Stepmom can spend money any way she can within its provisions.

The lesson to all of us: be nice to stepmothers or ask your father how his estate is set up.

When my father remarried after my mother’s death, he told us what he was doing with his estate. Not that it was extensive, but at least he had it taken care of so we could keep the rancor at an acceptable level.

Actually, I thought the filling out of more of Jack’s back story in the season premiere was pretty good. While we knew in general where it was going, it was still interesting enough – and the interactions between Jack and his dad are always good. I did also kind of like some of the bit about how Jin and Sun met (although it wasn’t really crucial stuff).

But overall, I agree on the flashbacks this season. They have been pretty much filler, and nothing that we couldn’t have surmised easily enough on our own.

Possible, however,

her gun had been fired. The slide was back, indicating the last bullet had been fired from the clip (the slide doesn’t move forward until the next bullet is in the chamber). Occam and that silly razor of his says she shot her.

My hope for the beginning of next episode:

Sayid says, “I see your gun is empty.” (reaches behind…) “Mine, however, is not.” Blam. “Michael, Jin, nice to see you again.”

IIRC, it sounded like a rifle shot, not a pistol, there wasn’t any smoke coming out of the pistol and that crazy Frenchwoman is still running around with a rifle.

I’m going to go out on a limb here. I don’t think Shannon will die. The promo said somone would be “lost forever”. Not killed. Ms Oneline is the one who was lost forever. A gutshot with a 9mm is not necessarily fatal. Presumably they are reasonably close to the hatch now. There is a surgeon, shelter, possibly an infimary, medical equipment… Besides, why would they waste a whole episode’s flashbacks on her if she was off the cast?

Yes but,

If she fired at whoever killed Shannon, she would have used that last bullet.

Boy, it’s a pain talking in spoiler boxes. Maybe we should make an open spoilers thread.

I’m confident that there’s more to the dog than has been revealed. If you go back and look at all of season one’s episodes, back-to-back-to-back, the dog starts to jump out at you. It’s just about the first thing we see in the whole series: Jack wakes up in the trees, turns his head, and the dog is sitting there looking at him. A few episodes later, the dog is in the bushes quietly watching a group of folks hiking into the hills. And so on. They’re either carefully setting up some sort of revelation, or they’re messing with us.

The difference being, of course, that the main group is now armed to the teeth, courtesy of the extensive armory in the hatch. I wonder how long it’ll be before Ana-Lucia’s inevitable desire to get her unpredictable self some of that hardware causes even more conflict than she’s already engendering.

I am now envisioning the exchange that will occur when Michael comes face to face with Wet Dripping Backwards Walt (or perhaps he should be referred to as Tlaw).

Michael: WAAAAAAAAAAAALTTTTTTTTTTTT!
Tlaw: Gobbledy-goobledy-gook.
Michael: WAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLT!
Tlaw: SSssshhhh!
Michael: Walt!
Tlaw: Paul is dead. Paul is dead.

(Tlaw disappears)

Michael: WAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLTTTTTTTTTTT!

If she fired at whoever killed Shannon, she would have used that last bullet.

Except:

We only heard one shot, so no one else could have killed Shannon with a gun. If she was killed with a spear as previously suggested then Ana Lucia would have been aiming in the direction of the killer and not down at Shannon. She did it, no doubt about it.

I can’t wait to see Walt copping the little man from Twin Peaks’ dance moves.

In the screencaps I’ve seen of bloody Shannon. She appears to have a 4-5 in long gash (yeah, there’s a joke there somewhere) like she’s been speared. Not shot.

He’s secretly killing them off. He’s one of the Doggy Others.

Yeah… Now Boone gets to sleep with Shannon again.

that’s not a gash… she’s bleeding… more internally due to the nature of the shot (and they don’t do gushing on TV)…if it were CSI, you’d probably see the wound/blood from the back as well.

The whole point to Shannon’s flashback is that all she ever wanted was to be loved and respected… she finally got that, the end.

Her transformation from ballerina to manipulative slut was due to “mum in law”, and feeling that she wasnt getting what was due her… they (the family when dad was alive) was clearly well off… that was taken from her… and not due to her actions (directly) but due to MIL taking it away because she clearly didnt like the spawn of hubbys first wife.

Nothing Shannon could’ve done would have pleased MIL, except for going away.

Also, Shannon’s ‘dancing’ was probably not considered the “family business”.

Here’s the screencap that I’ve been yammering on about.

Shannon had on a shirt which did not button up the front. But in this picture it looks like her shirt has been sliced open.

If Waaaaaalt, in some way, is more of a “vision”, perhaps AL did not see Shannon but something else and then suddenly Shannon appears, dying.

I am more apt to believe, however, that something stabbed/speared Shannon, then AL fires a shot at the “something.”

On Vincent… he was away from the main group for some time, and I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if he wasnt part of Walt’s power…

Vincent wasn’t leading Shannon to Walt… he was leading them to Micheal.

Walt’s not on the island…

And clearly, shannon doesnt know that a dog cant follow a trail that doesnt exist… scent dogs only work when there is a path from point A to point B.
