That’s what I recall… Nathan was not an other, AL would eventually come to believe that, and would start looking at the others, and the other logical choice was Goodwin… or something to that effect. Monstre, point well made, From a writing/story standpoint, I think the audience would be more put off by the supposed rape then they are of random “killings”… clearly in the others little world, anything they do is for the greater good, and the losties are cannon fodder. (meaning they dont really care what happens to them)… If they wanted breeding stock, they would not have bothered with a list at all, they would have simply grabbed all surviving females and “recruited them”… they’re clearly good enough with maniplulation and control that they probably would’ve voluntarily submitted.
As for Kate’s bloody wrists, I assumed she fought the handcuffs/restraints long enough to cause that.
Also, Kelvin Inman did mention the “Hostiles”, too – in the finale last season (Desmond flashbacks).
As far as the Others are concerned at the moment, here’s what I want to know right now… Where’s Danielle? Is she back roaming around randomly in the jungle? Or is she tracking/following Ben and the Others (and Locke) in their little migration.
Doesn’t sound like they are planning on being incognito for too long, given what Ben said to Juliet (“I’ll see you in a week”). Unless Juliet is going to up and leave the beach to a rendezvous point with Ben. But will Danielle end up being the wrench in the works for whatever mischief the Others are getting up to right now? That would be fun!
I’m getting to the thread a bit late, but even though I just watched the episode 2 nights ago (and have seen every episode since the pilot) I can hardly keep up with what y’all are saying.
So I have come (partially) armed with a thread contribution that has absolutely nothing to do with the plot, and everything to do with Elizabeth Mitchell, the actress who plays Juliet.
I just have to say, that I’ve repeatedly watched the entire duration of The Santa Clause 2 for virtually the sole purpose of seeing her dance like a freak in this outfit just as the closing credits start to roll.
I can’t explain the appeal. You’re just going to have to experience it for yourself.
For me that character was Pickett. I sooooo wanted to see Sawyer bashing in his head with a rock…repeatedly…long after he quit twitching…and then once more just for good measure. But then Juliet robbed him of that opportunity, so I guess the most satisfying thing now would be for Sawyer to beat her head in with a rock
I would have settled for, and actually thought Kates’ facial expression hinted that she was thinking of, Seeing Kate push Juliet into the brain-scrambling forcefield after she turned it back on. “Thanks for saving us…now eat forcefield, bitch!”
When are they going to learn all this acting like they’re still in the civilized world doesn’t work and start shooting Others on sight?

no I’m not getting too emotionally invested in this show, why do you ask?
Ethan tied him to a tree. He could have tied him in a way not designed to kill him. What about Pickett? He was killed pretty randomly, as was the real Henry Gale.
Assuming they’re good guys, which they’re not. Did you miss the last 5 minutes of last week’s episode? It took Juliet 3 months to dream up the lies she told the folks at camp. They were probably afraid of being taken advantage of - of giving up the sub and letting folks leave, which Ben doesn’t want for some reason. That’s why they weren’t open or honest.
Evil and monstrously violent are two different things - I would definitely say Ben is evil and Juliet is pretty sick too. Does that mean they’re disposed to rape & torture? That’s a pretty thin definition of evil - only rapists are evil?
That is an interesting theory. I had a WAG a while back that Ben was actually Aaron who had time traveled at some point in time, but your theory is a little less complicated. Although if they can accelerate aging, why didn’t they accelerate Alex who appears to be her actual chronilogical age?
Coming in late on this one, but I think there is a hole in this theory. Or at least some muddy water. Danielle has been on the island 16 years. This is verified through the iterations of the broadcast. So, Alex is about 16 years old. Ben has been taking care of her since she was a baby. She believes him to be her father.
So, wouldn’t Ben be at least 16 years old?
Good episode. I really feel like we got some good reveals (or, rather, some clarity).
I don’t think anybody’s responded to this yet. I just re-watched the episode where the relevant statement was made (“The Man from Tallahassee”) and Ben does, in fact, specifically say he was born on the island.
Now, whether or not we can take that statement at face value is another issue entirely.
Oh, and something else I don’t recall seeing discussed in a lot of detail: What the frak is the deal with the big carved-cliff ruins or whatever the hell they are that Juliet looks up at when she first climbs out of the submarine?
Ruins?!? There were ruins in that shot? I thought she was just looking at the mountains. I even remember thinking to myself, well she knows she’s in Hawaii now!
Sure the hell looked like ruins on my screen. I backed it up and looked at it again even. Appeared to be some sort of ancient, extremely weathered structure carved out of the mountain.
Can anyone corroborate, or is this the crack talking?
