Lost 3.21: Greatest Hits

How wonderful! Thank you!

Even more simple: Why not just shoot them? If they are coming up to the tents, why not just hide and shoot them in the back?

Remind me: where is the cache of weapons from the hatch? Were they all destroyed in the hatch explosion?

Great, now I can’t stop thinking up thread titles that could be started by people in the Lost universe.

I’m also wondering how they talked Sawyer into simply walking off to the tower. Seems to me like he would want to stay behind with his personal pistol and help out somehow.

Yeah, I think most of the weapons went poof. But, seeing as how the ping-pong table survived, you’d think they would be able to find one or two of the guns laying around in the jungle.

Well…

Pit- Why the fuck does everyone keep saying Namaste at work?

I understand how you feel… although I got the impression from Ben’s attitude in this one that not everything goes to his plan. He seemed genuinely upset about how recent events fell out regarding Locke and Jacob. He came back to the camp seriously pissed off. Perhaps at his own people for liking Locke too much? He didn’t seem quite as “in control” as he usually does.

They have the axe, which Michael used to cut the handcuffs off of Jin. Maybe that would hack through it, maybe not. Worth a try before taking a deadly swim, though.

IMHO - Should I take this job at Mittelos Bioscience?

I just saw some pictures at sledgeweb’s site. Apparently the Charlie flashback is not the same as the Desmond one. Same events, but different clothes.

Odd.

That would sure beat the hell out of a boring PowerPoint presentation…

If Naomi’s ship is still in the nearby vicinity, I would think they’d be swarming the area with search parties – looking for Naomi’s chopper that never returned. So where are the search parties?

I agree, but I think part of it was also Mikhail’s news of Naomi parachuting to the island – Mikhail was urging haste last week, and Ben was about to go with it, when Locke pounded Mikhail’s face into kibble and pretty much demanded top priority. So I think it’s two things – (1) Ben reasserting his authority, and (2) Ben moving up the schedule because of Naomi and the phone. He doesn’t want any rescue parties showing up before he can kidnap any more pregnant chicks.

Don’t forget, Charlie had a new CD scheduled to come out just a few weeks after the plane went down. It wouldn’t be very hard to take all of the songs he had planned, add a few Driveshaft singles and package the whole thing as “Charlie Pace: The Lost Recordings.”

Working with the ninety day timeline, it probably was released a few days before Naomi left on the boat, just in time for Christmas.

Just some thoughts:

We never saw Charlie’s dad actually teach him to swim. He was holding him up above water and Charlie was pretending to swim.

I agree that the part about Jack not telling all those folks what he was going to do and dragging them out in the jungle was pretty far fetched. And blowing up the tree was really stupid. Why risk alerting The Others about what you are doing?

Isn’t there some concern that Alex might be part of the kidnapping party and they might blow her up, too? Granted, she’s shown signs of being anti-Ben, but who knows how Ben might be able to manipulate her into participating.

When Charlie dove down to the underwater station, I knew it was going to have people there. I didn’t expect it to look like something out of a James Bond movie, though.

It seems very much like “The Hostiles” have been waiting for a Messiah figure, and that Ben is actually more of a steward holding them together until that happens. Maybe they thought Locke could be that person.

I didn’t recognize Nadia. Good call whoever spotted that. I thought it was going to be a set-up and that Charlie was going to get mugged.

Hey, you’re right. Here’s the transcript. Right at the start – when Jack has to head out to save Boone from drowning, when Boone was trying to save the woman who did drown. Charlie gets Jack, and says, “I don’t swim!”

Jack: “We blew up a few military installations… well, potential military installations… okay, trees.”

Ben doesn’t want to give up power – and he’s been communicating with Sauron (Jacob) with the palantir.

Good point. You would think that an S&R vessel would have radar and that they would therefore know about where Naomi’s helicopter went down so they should have some idea as to where to concentrate their search even if the Island is somehow “Invisible”. It is odd that it has been several days and that there is no further sign of a search.

Or they’re on R’lyeh. Who knows.

Interesting observation by Doc Jensen over at Entertainment Weekly. Juliet was supposed to mark the tents of the pregnant women with White Stones. Instead, the tents will contain dynamite from the Black Rock.

In the previews for next week, we see Ben saying something like Shoot them [all], and the Lostaways are gagged, on their knees just like the end of last year’s season. My guess is that this will be the cliff hanger and that…

… next season will open with Locke miraculously showing up in the nick of time to save the day.

No real spoiler in there, just my own educated guess.

I also assume that after next week, we wait until Feb '08 for the season 4 premier.

My wife was wondering about this. Shouldn’t Desmond have interrupted him just before it started raining?

I was thinking it was going to be the beginning of a mutiny amonst the Others but now I bet you’re right.

They might be. Perhaps the ship only had one helicopter (not many carry more than one, really) and so they sent parties out on boats to the last known position of the helicopter. But considering it went down over the ocean, and they weren’t sure where to start looking, they might’ve started looking, on foot, halfway across the island from the beach where the Losties live.
