“Don’t mistake coincidence for fate” - Locke
“I believe in God because I have a spinal tumor and a spinal doctor falls out of the sky” - Ben
Sounds like a redux of Man of Science, Man of Faith, with Locke switching sides.

Does anyone have any idea who Eye-Patch Guy is? Other than the owner of the glass eye from the Flame station, that is.
Also, note that we know Locke saw a “white light” and not the TCM smoke bad boy. Oy vey-- stop with the black and white references already!
I thought it was really good. They handled four storylines (if one counts the flashbacks) deftly and moved along at a nice pace. Eko’s backstory made perfect sense and it came full circle, with the added bonus of bringing back TCM. Jack might be conned by Juliet, but there was some forward motion there. Locke and the others are looking for answers, acting, not just reacting.
The male redshirt actually wore a reddish/pink t-shirt. He and new girl need to go away.
Suddenly, I want a cheeseburger.
I half expected Juliet to say: Wanna know what you’re playing for?
Is it too obvious to suggest that he might be “Him”?
Crap. I’m going to miss Mr. Eko. Poor bastard. What a miserable, pain-filled life he had before his violent and pointless death. That smoke-thing sure looked like it curled itself into a fist around him.
Who is Creepy Eyepatch Guy?
I can’t wait to see next week’s ep. What a mess they’re making of our heads and Jack’s. Will Benry survive for the duration of this season? I really want his backstory as well. He’s lived on that island his whole life? Hmmm.
There’s one other Tailie we haven’t seen in a long time: Cindy. However, since she seemed to vanish into thin air, she must have been a plant…yet Benry wasn’t shown sending her out to the Tailies the way he sent Goodwin and Ethan out.
Cindy was a stewardess on the plane. It doesn’t mean she wasn’t an Other (although my guess is that she wasn’t), but she wasn’t on the island when the plane crashed.
Is it possible she was afraid of being seen by the fuselage folks for whatever reason? I mean she disappeared at a very convenient time.
They did? I must have missed that part. Could you (or someone else) recap briefly?
Remember when Cindy disappeared, there was much talk that Libby was an other because she was suddenly carrying Cindy’s backpack after her disappearance?
I guess a DUI conviction tossed that story out the window.
I am getting frustrated. Every episode I watch, I spend the whole hour mildly annoyed. I’m worried my wife is about done with the show.
It is a shame. There is much good here. But ABC will run it into the ground.
In fact, she was the stewrardess who served Jack his vodka drinks.
We also found out why Eko was building a church on the island.
If Benry and the Others didn’t cause the plane with the spinal surgeon to crash on the island, it’s possible that somebody else did. Maybe whoever we saw at the end of the S2 finale is watching over the island, knows Benry’s predicament, and crashed the plane with the surgeon–or somehow got the surgeon on the plane they were going to crash anyway.
My guess is that Juliet is sincere, and that she walked Jack by those x-rays on purpose.
Causing a plane carrying the surgeon you need to crash seems, illogical.
Isn’t it firmly established that Flight 815 crashed because of Desmond’s almost setting off the Nuclear Magnet?
Maybe one of these days they’ll give a shot of the big ol’ landing strip on the Alcatraz island that the airplace was supposed to land on if Desmond hadn’t screwed up.
Yeah, there’s definitely a clanking/ratchey noise that goes with it. When they had Ben/Henry in the armory, the door to that made a very similar sound when they opened it. I don’t know if it was intentional or if someone just used the same sound effect. If anyone has those episode recorded, check it and see if the sound is the same - I remember thinking the door made the same clanking sound as the Smoke Monster and the TCM from the very first episodes.
Also in my “heap o’ things that make me go hmmmm” are the three vastly different visible manifestations of the TCM entity.
There’s the silent sprite-like “mini-puff” that was clearly zipping across the screen as Eko stumbled through the jungle, usually precluding his hallucinations (for lack of a better word)…
There’s the MIGHTY-PUFF that has all of the funky groaning clicky noises, is huge, and can easily play “Whack-a-tree” with a 250 lb man…
And there’s the “Invisible tree moving, tree crushing, tree plucking” doomaflajiwatchamajig.
The Smoke Monster makes a noise like my garage did before I sprayed it with WD-40. There’s a screechy, metallic element to it.
If only the Losties could know that they should never come to terms with their pasts – it’s the surest way to a quick, brutal death!
Get out of my head, Harborwolf!
I don’t think we will have a chance to miss Mr. Eko, as I imagine he will be in many a scene in the future…
