Agreed on both points. Remember when Ben told Locke that the button was a joke? I think he sincerely believed that, and he thought that the button was just a cruel sociology experiment that was never stopped. Even now, it’s not clear if he realizes that the magnetic anomaly was the Swan Station imploding.
As for the fake crash site, I want to know where those bodies came from. Are those the Tail-section guys that were kidnapped back in season 2?

There was a screen shot on the Lost wiki. It looked very much like Jack’s dad.
There were a bunch of short Lost scene’s that people could view on the cell phones over the break. They were called mobisodes and are viewable online somewhere. The 13th one takes place about a minute or two before the very first scene of the very first episode where Jack opens his eye on the beach. Very interesting in this context. Compare it to Locke’s conversation with Walt at the Dharma grave.

You know Rousseau needs her own spin-off series or something. What the hell do we know about her? She came to the island in a research group, had a baby, everyone else went nuts from a mysterious illness, had her child stolen by Ben and then… did what for all these years?

I’m not so sure that it was everyone else who went nuts. Maybe it was just Rousseau who went insane, but she thought that she was sane and everyone else was crazy.
Heck, maybe the Others took Alex from her because they figured that she’d probably kill the kid sooner or later.
