When did we learn that? The only time I heard a reference to Essex was when Ben reeled off what he knew about C S “Yet another gimmick British accent” Lewis.

Well, I think Ben and his group had the Flight 815 “found off Bali” crash site faked, simply to close the book on it so that nobody would continue looking for the real crash site.
And interestingly, it was Locke that asked the most direct question in this one: “What IS the smoke monster?”

But I think Ben really doesn’t know, either.

Agreed on both points. Remember when Ben told Locke that the button was a joke? I think he sincerely believed that, and he thought that the button was just a cruel sociology experiment that was never stopped. Even now, it’s not clear if he realizes that the magnetic anomaly was the Swan Station imploding.

As for the fake crash site, I want to know where those bodies came from. Are those the Tail-section guys that were kidnapped back in season 2?

But what sane person chooses to communicate like this? Just lift up her shirt, and badabing, you’ve made your point without making yourself look like a homocidal maniac. He’s (supposedly) a brilliant liar and manipulator, I get it, but he often seems ridiculously stupid, being super-cryptic and circuitous when it’s clearly not in his interests to do so (i.e. it will make people want to KILL him).

I think it’s Abaddon’s group, which is probably affiliated with Oceanic, that faked the crash. Not Ben’s group.

and didn’t somebody conjecture on these boards somewhere recently that they thought the shadowy guy in the cabin (hurley visit) WAS daddy? :eek:

There was a screen shot on the Lost wiki. It looked very much like Jack’s dad.

There were a bunch of short Lost scene’s that people could view on the cell phones over the break. They were called mobisodes and are viewable online somewhere. The 13th one takes place about a minute or two before the very first scene of the very first episode where Jack opens his eye on the beach. Very interesting in this context. Compare it to Locke’s conversation with Walt at the Dharma grave.

You know Rousseau needs her own spin-off series or something. What the hell do we know about her? She came to the island in a research group, had a baby, everyone else went nuts from a mysterious illness, had her child stolen by Ben and then… did what for all these years?

I’m not so sure that it was everyone else who went nuts. Maybe it was just Rousseau who went insane, but she thought that she was sane and everyone else was crazy.

Heck, maybe the Others took Alex from her because they figured that she’d probably kill the kid sooner or later.
