Is it Jack that Sun blames, or is it Linus? I mean, why would it be Jack’s fault when they all wanted to leave the island, especially Sun because of her pregnancy? Also, I’m not sure how she’d know this, but it is in fact Linus’ fault that Jin is dead, since he killed Keamy in a rage of personal vengeance, knowing that his death would the ship to blow up. When Locke pointed this out and Linus said, “So?” I got creepy chills.
However, if she wants to blame Jack, go ahead. In the flash forwards, I kept thinking, “Boo hoo! Take a shave, emo boy!” The bad stuff happening on the island was, according to Locke, happening because Jack left, not what happened to the Oceanic Six. My impression is that, whatever Locke told Jack, it had Jack convinced and riddled with guilt due to his overactive hero complex.
Claire appeared to Kate admonishing her NOT to take Aaron back to the island. Kate is going to be a tough sell on the island return, as a result. Does this mean that Claire is, in fact, dead, if she can appear to people, like the deceased Christian Shepard, Mr. Eko, and Charlie?
Also, did anyone besides me think of the video game MYST when Linus was turning that big captain’s wheel to move the island? The whole show is like a very long game of MYST.
That was a deceptive episode. We are set up to think that Sun and Jin are sharing a flash-forward, but at the end we learn that Jin is having a flash-back, and Sun is having the flash-forward. Sun’s flash-forward ends with her visiting Jin’s gravestone.
Claire appeared to Kate in a dream. Everyone else who has seen a dead person was awake at the time. That may only be Kate’s subconscious wanting to protect Aaron whom she has come to love as a son.
I’m not going to check my DVR to get the exact quote, but when Jack is talking to Ben in the funeral parlor, he says something like, “Sun won’t even talk to me because she blames me…” and he kind of trails off. It was something very similar to that quote, anyhow.
Shouldn’t they say “moving the islands”, plural? Obviously both islands had to have moved or the other island would have been clearly visible from the helicopter if it was still there.
Did anyone notice if Ben grabed his hitting baton when he was getting ready to leave? He had it when he turned up in the desert.
Also, what were the white and black stones in the bags near the skeletons that were found at the long-abandoned indoor set cave area?
You’re thinking of ‘Confirmed Dead’, the second episode of season 4. The woman there is Charlotte, the red-haired freighter girl, and she picks up a collar with the Hydra logo on it–meaning that the polar bear came from the Island station, possibly the same way Ben teleported off the Island.
Since Ben insists that everyone must go back, in order to get back, does that mean they have to take Walt too?
I think they’re gonna deal Walt back in next season. When they eventually get back to the island, they’re going, only a little bit of time will have passed on the island, compared to the few years the Oceanic 6 (et al) experienced back home, due to the time dilation. That will allow Locke to still be alive, and will also explain Walt’s older/taller appearance.
Shoot, them going back to the island might even start an alternate timeline. That would kickass.
And I think Jin is swimming, as we speak, to Daniel’s raft.
I remember reading that Damon Lindelof said that that was placed there in season 1, so that when everything is said and done, they can point back to it, and say “See? We told you we had a plan the whole time!”
Anyway, it’s going to obviously be someone we already know. Like Jack & Kate, or Aaron and Ji Yeon, or Bernard and Rose or something. My guess is we won’t find out until season 6.
Sort of an un-Lost like finale. It seemed to answer all the drama that was set up and was generally pretty predictable considering we knew who the Oceanic Six were. I didn’t really have a sense of drama and was expecting a big twist in order to have us chomping at the bit for Season 5. In the end it didn’t seem to have one aside from the Coffin scene, but that was really just answering a question from previous episodes.
Going into Season 5 there’s pretty much only one storyline going and that’s the 6 getting back to the Island for whatever purpose.
Loved that Penny and Desmond got together, I’m curious if this will be the last we see of them. They probably will be left in a greatly reduced role if they are back at all.
How much of Season 5 is going to happen on the Island? Locke is really the only primary character still there and we know that he made some visits to all the people who got off the Island back in the world so much of his scenes could be shown off-Island. There’s some uncertainty about the fates of Juliette and Daniel and the rest of the “team” but I’m not sure how they’ll fit into a Island storyline aside from simple exposition.
Do you think that Desmond is going to have to go back to the Island with the Oceanic 6 per Ben’s claim, or is it only the crash survivors? Based on the conversation in the Funeral Parlor it doesn’t sound like that’s the case.
Well, there’s getting everyone to go back. Also, what condition will the island be in? Where will the island be? When will it be?
I don’t think so (especially if Desmond has to go back with them). But mainly because Ben has it out for Penny as revenge for Alex’s death. Wait 'til Desmond gets wind of that.
There are still a lot of unanswered island mysteries left, the smoke monster for one. Also, Miles and Charlotte chose to stay for a reason. I don’t think the show will shift their focus off the island outside of flashbacks and flash-forwards, especially once the O6 make it back.
I hope it does require him to go back. His story doesn’t seem done yet, as he seems intrinsically tied to the island and the bigger picture. Of course, the writers can spin that any way they want, but I think he’ll be going back, and maybe even bring Penny with him to keep her out of harm’s way (since Ben can’t go back to the island).
If he’s one of the guys she blames for Jin’s death, I don’t envy Charles Widmore.
I’m not completely clear on why Jack found it so important to keep their story a secret. If he just said that they’d never believe the real story, so lie, I’d go along with it. But he seems to feel he’s protecting the ones left behind. Surely Widmore sees right through the cover story?
Yes, and particularly the elevator scene as well, as someone else pointed out. In fact, I’ve thought of the whole show as having a very Myst vibe ever since I started watching it (via DVDs of the second season), but until now, no one else has ever agreed with me on this point.
So Ben has a few ideas on how to get back to the island. That sounds to me like he’s not sure and it may take a few tries to get back. That’s fine but…
What are they going to do with Locke’s body while they try to get everyone back together and heading toward’s the island? Does someone have a convenient meat locker they can use for a while? Or are they going to have to go all “Weekend at Bernies”?
