Lost 5.3 "Jughead"

Y’know something that really helped make this episode entertaining? Jack wasn’t in it!

I think Widmore is Farraday’s father. He funded his research, he sent him on the expedition, he was on the island with someone who is possibly Farraday’s mother, and it would make it very ironic that Desmond asked him if he knew where Farraday’s closest living kin was.

His response could have been:

Widmore: Who has two thumbs and is Daniel Farraday’s closest living kin? THIS GUY! (this joke works better if you are standing in my office with me right now, because you bet your sweet ass I stopped typing and did the double thumb point!)

Like I said above, given the paralells between Widmore and Ben, Penny is probably adopted. Thus avoiding all kinds of genetic unpleasantness.

Does anybody want to volunteer to start next week’s thread or to start the threads forevermore? I won’t have time to do it (especially next week) and John Mace tells me he’s too busy to do these right now.

Nice one.

This was a great episode, lots of shirtless Sawyer and some shirtless Desmond, too. Not enough though.

So do we think Charlotte’s definitely pining for the fjords?

Ahh, I never got into Futurama. More of a Heinlein fan.

I can man the communications center for the time being. If either you or John want the eyepatch back after next week, let me know.

ET fix spelling.

She’s resting. Actually, Charlotte hardly registers for me as a character; can’t really remember anything about her, except that she was one of those characters that seem to be either a bad guy or a good guy, depending on the needs of the plot.

I find I don’t care about Charlotte, but I really like the Miles and Daniel characters. If/when Charlotte dies Daniel will feel irrationally responsible & it would increase his feelings of guilt over the woman in Oxford. (If I’m not wrong in assuming he has some.)

We need more shirtless Sawyer (and Desmond). More, I tell you. And Jack can stay away for as many episodes as need be.

Regarding Juliet – I think we already know she’s a horny one – who can she pair up with? Has Ben lost his obsession with her?

Thanks. I’m emailing you something.

G

Got it. Thanks.

Ever since it happened at the end of last season, I haven’t been convinced that Jin is actually dead. Michael? I think so. He was still in the room with the bomb, and Christian Shepard appeared to him saying, “You can go now”. But Jin – he was running towards the edge of the ship where the chopper had just taken off. I have a suspicion that maybe he jumped into the water before the bomb went off, Bruce-Willis-In-Die-Hard style.

I’d like to see that, too! A younger, more slender smoke monster. Out playing with his little smoke monster friends, before they all left to guard other islands and he had to grow up, practice ripping up trees, then take up his current post tearing people apart.

Wow. You could be me. Except fro the Bruce-Willis-In-Die-Hard style bit, that exactly what I’ve been telling my fellow Lost fans at work.

Yeah. I’ll bet he has images of people you knew with bad acne and his roar was more of a voice-changing squeak.

I’m thinking that Daniel is Charlotte’s father. I bet he ends up in the past and gets together with the hot chick who had him at gunpoint. If that’s the case it could be them that are Adam and Eve and baby Charlotte get’s found and taken off the island. As to why she survives and no other babies do… I dunno, perhaps whatever causes that isn’t started until after Baby Charlotte is born.

That’s a whole lotta incest you’re suggesting. That “hot chick” is almost certainly Daniel’s mom; you’d be having him romantically involved with both his mother and his daughter, separately [unless you’re suggesting Daniel’s love for Charlotte actually isn’t romantic].

Yeah, I think he loves her because she’s his daughter. Which would be weird because she’s interpreting it as romantic love.

Are we sure that “hot chick” is Daniel’s mother?

This is what I have always felt/hoped about Jin. Last I heard Daniel Dae Kim has resolved his DUI issue and is still in Hawaii, I hope that means he will be back on the show. After all, that had Michelle Rodriguez back.

See, this is the problem with time travel. You end up banging all your relatives and being your own grampa, father, first cousin one removed… and maybe even your own uncle AND aunt, if things get really kinky.

My favorite bit from this episode:
