No kidding. What really drove me nuts was when Kate says to Jack that she’s going looking for Claire, he tells her “The others think something happened to her”. Why the hell don’t you say “They think she’s turned crazy evil”? That might be just a tiny bit more useful, dude.
Claire now = Clouseau.
They’re both pretty manipulative, but in the few scenes with them, it seems like Jacob is Free Will and Esau is fate. For example, Jacob tells both Hurley and Ben that they have a choice to go back to the island/kill him. Whereas Esau in his first scene kept talking about the same thing happening whenever people show up to the island and nothing ever changing.
I can’t remember how Dogan described what is going to happen to Sayid to Jack, other than he has been “claimed”, and something bad will overtake him and turn Sayid into something other than himself. I’m not sure Jack would automatically assume Claire’s gone crazy-evil from that. Just that, if he takes Dogan at his word, she won’t be herself.
But yeh, in the real world, they would’ve compared notes much more comprehensively. I think we all realize by now that to reveal the whole mystery, most of these interactions have to be necessarily vague.
Just as, I think it’s unrealistic for crazy-Claire to refer to MiB as “My Friend” only. Unless she never learned his name. But I doubt that. I think she’s referring to him as “My Friend” because the writers don’t want to give away his name just yet.
For some reason, I can’t get that hi-res screenshot to open, but I’m pretty sure I remember seeing “Rousseau” as one of the crossed-out names on the wheel. Not sure what number she was.
What other names do we recognize on that wheel, other than the 6 we saw in the cave last episode? Someone mentioned Austen, Linus, and Faraday. Wallace, obviously, but we don’t recognize that one. Any others? Widmore, Hanso, etc?
Does anyone else roll their eyes at the “back shots” that are so common on Lost? Was there anyone who didn’t know right away that it was Dogan at the recital? Was anyone shocked, SHOCKED, to find out it was Dogan when he finally turned around?
From Lostpedia:
* Rousseau crossed out at number 20.
* Austen at number 51. Austen is not crossed out and was not shown in the scene in the cave in “The Substitute.”
* Burke crossed out at number 58.
* Faraday crossed out at number 101.
* Lewis crossed out at number 104, which is different from The Substitute where she has number 140.
* Rutherford crossed out at number 32, which is different from The Substitute where she has number 31.
* Wallace crossed out at number 108.
* Friendly crossed out at number 109.
* Linus crossed out at number 117.
* Dawson crossed out at number 124.
* Littleton crossed out at number 313.
Anyone think Widmore’s still trying to reach the island?
Absolutely. In fact, I think last nights was the most egregious of these. If he was talking to the little Japanese kid, and Dogan just walk up and inserted himself in the conversation as the kid’s father, I think that would’ve been much more effective.
I recall the MiB observing to Jacob that Jacob is still trying to prove him wrong. This is at the beginning of “The Incident.” It was in response to the Black Rock sailing towards the Island. MiB says that nothing ever changes and that the same thing always keeps happening from Jacob’s efforts.
What is Jacob trying to prove?
I was hoping that’s who 108 would be.
I’d also like the translation of what Dogen said to Hurley after he told him he was a candidate and he could do whatever he wanted.
You don’t want to know. /Most Predictable Lost Line Ever
The actor who plays Jacob is great.
Cool. I also see “Almeida” at 119. Tony? Wonder if Jack Bauer is on that wheel anywhere.
Every time I see him I have a hard time forgetting he was Rita’s abusive ex-husband on Dexter.
Quick, someone check who’s name is under 24!
From Lostpedia:
Wouldn’t you love to run across him in real life. “Holy crap! It’s Jacob!”
I would definitely ask him if I could do a posed picture with him where he is touching my hand or shoulder.
They’re saving that for the big reveal in the final episode, where Jack Bauer parachutes in, tortures the MIB, Jacob’s ghost and/or the Island itself with a lamp cord/car battery/gunshot to the thigh, yells “I WANT ANSWERS!” and dammit, we get answers!
