Thanks, enalzi.
Number 24: Kluxen(?)…
“Dammit!”
“It only ends once; everything else is just progress.”
Thanks! I’m somewhat ashamed to admit I have to look up some of those names, but I can do that on my own.
I don’t know. I see a biblical parallel between that and God telling one of his prophets to tell them “I AM” was the name of his God.
I see Claire asking “Who are you?” and Jacob answering “You can ust think of me as your friend…” and in her addled state, being OK with that, especially if she saw her friend morph from Christian to Locke to Smoke Monster, etc.
Except in smoke form he seemed fairly controlled and concious when he creeped up on Sawyer’s house, then went into the woods straight to where Richard’s body was and stopped in front of the machete before changing back into Locke’s body to pick it up.
Did anyone else notice the new sound effect that played whenever it seemed that Jack in the Alt-TL was starting to remember something about the island, then we switched back to an island scene?
Or why didnt Kate say… “What do they think happend to her?” Because to me, it comes off like Jack is saying she’s been killed. But no… it doesnt phase Kate… she’s gonna go find her!
On another note, I am excited about the prospect of Kate going ‘back to the beach’. I hope there’s someone waiting for her there…
I am totally on the fence with this Aaron thing. I happen to think it TOTALLY looks like it says Aaron on Hurley’s arm. But really that just doesnt make sense. I mean, why wouldnt it say Wallace @ 108?
And at first I was completely scoffing at the idea that it says “Aim at 108”… but now i’m not so sure. It definitely says “pull chain +”, which to me could easily translate to “pull chain and aim at 108”…
Are you talking about that staccato-like reverse jet engine transition sound? If so, I did notice it, and figured it was the new transition sound for all the flashsideways.
Thanks, I did not know that. Hope he got a better gig (although this one was pretty good). He’s a terrific actor.
That’s the one. I wonder if it’s supposed to signal some sort of audio Island Déjà vu for the characters in the flashsideways. Or maybe it’s just the sound Jack hears when he’s thinking.
There are only last names on the compass, so maybe Aaron’s last name is Wallace.
Now I need to run off and see if Claire’s ex-fiance’s last name is Wallace. Or does Kate have some relationship to that name?
The jet-engine sound is the generic flashsideways intro/outro sound, not unique to Jack or vague recollections of other existences.
I guess I’m thinking that once the Lost All Stars complete their Reward/Immunity Challenge, that will erase all the interference there is between the two timelines, and the ATL Losties will be free of any weird little hints they have of the OTL.
What I found really amusing is that Jorge asked the producers if we’d ever find out what happened to Shannon’s inhaler, making fun of fans who expect them to solve minor mysteries, and yet in this episode we find out that very thing lol.
Agreed. In fact, when he showed up as Claire’s “friend” at the end, he was actually scary!
Aaron makes no sense at all lol. This isn’t some piece of paper left behind by the Others or Dharma to intrigue us, it’s instructions Hurley wrote down on how to get out of the temple, get to the lighthouse, and aim the mirror. Pretty straight forward stuff.
I can see crazy Claire asking MIB “who are you?” and him answering “I’m your friend…” While Sawyer might punch him for that, crazy Claire is probably satisfied with that answer.
I think the mirror has two functions:
-
Turning it to the corresponding number let’s you spy on the person whose name is written there.
-
With the signal fire lit, the mirror will shine a beam of light in that direction. The specific bearing is important, because as we know, you can only get to the island from a specific direction. In the past it’s been 305° and then 325°, now it would seem to be 108°.
I find it amusing that he’s basically God in this show and literally Satan in Supernatural.
I’m think that it really only has the number one function and 108 is just a MacGuffin. Jacob just wanted Hurley to turn the mirror enough so Jack would notice the images. Notice how his instructions end at turning the mirror. There’s nothing about lighting it on his arm.
Except that the reason he’s going there is to help someone get to the island. Aaron is the only person in the world we know who is supposed to be on the island, but who isn’t. Well, other than Desmond, but his last name isn’t Wallace, it’s Hume.
From all the fact we know, Aaron is the most likely name on Hurley’s arm.
The word on Hurley’s arm could also be “arrow”.
I felt a little of that when Hurley made the comment about the skeletons. I almost took it as a nod from the producers that they are aware of what some of the speculation is out there on the intarwebs from the fanbase, and they were just giving us a bit of an acknowledgement.
It’s probably not important, but it was weird that Jack specifically hooked up the cable in David’s room so he could watch Red Sox games, yet David was wearing a Dodgers cap in the photos with Jack in his room. Is this supposed to point out that Jack is clueless about his son and think he likes the Red Sox just because Jack does?
Jack’s just a dick when it comes to his team.
