LOST 6.8 "Recon"

More importantly, it’s easier to drive a working submarine than a partly damaged jetliner with a make-shift too-small runway. (Remember, Ajira made an emergency landing… and ended up with a tree through the front window AND through the co-pilot).

Besides, I’m not sure Sawyer is planning on driving it himself. Perhaps just hijacking the sub while most people are off of it. “Okay, driver – submerge this mo-fo and let’s go, or you get a bullet in the brain.”

Sure, but where’s the emotional beat we’re supposed to take from that. Do they all have dinner with Ben from time to time? These connections could have been anything. I doubt we’ll see Charlotte again after this. So what are we supposed to take away from any of that?

Now, I’m not saying they won’t have an answer down the road that’s, say a more developed version of what you just said. But the writers have always been good before about matching the character beats in one part of the show to those in the other part. Here, most of the emotional connections anyone had to Charlotte are gone (Daniel is dead, no one else had much concern for her anyhow). We don’t even see Miles or Frank in the other timeline this ep to tie back to her other life. We don’t see ghosts of these people in the original timeline. If Sawyer had had a blind date with Jack’s old ex-wife, or Cassidy, or anyone else, it would have been no more or less random.

Like I always say, air travel may be technically safer than car travel, but you can’t just have a fender bender in an airplane.

I don’t think we are done with Desmond! The island is not done with him.

I also read it the same way for a second, and thought it made a LOT of sense!

She had a logical link to Miles. The question now forming is why are Sawyer and Miles linked? Are these people all linked no matter what universe?

I agree in part and disagree in part. I feel like they are wasting time which could be spent answering questions. However, from a plot perspective they really are driving the story forward.

If we don’t get SOME answers from a RICHARD flashback regarding Jacob/Flocke, Hanso, or Dharma, we ain’t getting it ever!

Does Kate know he’s the monster? I know she realizes he is someone else, but not the monster.

Speaking of Tailie survivors, anyone else see the commercial starring Cindy the flight attendant?

Funny you should ask about Demond and Penny living happily ever after, because:

(spoiler for character episode centricity and episode title of said centricity)

There supposedly is a Desmond/Penny ep coming up that’s titled “Happily Ever After” Of course, that seems equally likely to be ironic as it is sincere. Who knows!

I thought it was pretty good overall, not too many lulls. I had 2 minor issues with the ep:

Why, if he was a cop, did sawyer help kate escape from the airport? If anyone found out he aided and abetted a runaway felon (airports have security cams and all) he would be kicked off the force.

The Sawyer/Miles buddy cop thing. What coworker runs your credit card to find out where you were last weekend? I don’t care how long they were partners for.

Bram and his bros definitely first shot at him under the foot when he was in Locke form. Bullets bounced off. Then he disappeared into a side passage and reappeared as the Wrath of Smokey.

Does Kate actually know this? I’m not sure she does. All he talked to her about in this episode was having a crazy mommy, back when he was young and didn’t look like Locke. I think only Ben and Sawyer (of his current group) know this for sure. Outside his group, Richard knows, I’m sure.

To whoever said it above in the thread - Yes, I would so watch a Sawyer/Miles buddy cop show.

Except for maybe the actors who played Eko and Libby, I think most of them left on pretty good terms. Either they knew it wasn’t a permanent gig or they were leaving to do their own thing anyway.

Only if Daniel plays the “Scientist” that they go to for help from time to time.

I’m guessing the producers asked Juliet before they asked Charlotte, but because of the wonky shooting schedule of V, they had to make do with big red.

Did anyone else think that Claire’s “baby” in the crib looked like Alf?

Work is work. Most of those castoffs aren’t burning up the screen.

Agreed. I’m still wondering why his name is Straud, though!
One other thing to replace last week’s AP/Principal hiring as out “minutia debate of the week”: why would Charlie be booked at LAPD? Seems like he’d be under arrest in some federal facility due to airplanes being in the jurisdiction of the federal government.

“And I’m getting paid for it!”

What happened with the actor who played Eko? I remember the Libby …what’s the other female’s name? The one who was the cop? She didn’t leave on such good terms either.

Gregg Nations says they made it back to the temple before Smoky arrived, and either joined Smoky or were killed, like the rest of the Others…

I’m wondering what happened with Jacob and MIB in the alt timeline. Are they both dead? Who else died when the bomb went off? I’m thinking Widmore and Eloise should be dead, since they were with the Others at the time. Which means no Daniel or Penny in the alt timeline.

Yup. But then, Kimberley Joseph is quite the Aussie hottie, and not easily overlooked.

Ben was with the Others too, and he’s still alive. I don’t think the island sunk instantly. It must have been a while later.

Widmore said he would be sent back to DHARMA, but would still be one of them. I don’t remember him going back on screen. It’s possible that he made it back to catch the Sub with his Dad before the bomb went off.

Except Ben’s dad was still looking for him when Jack and Sayid snuck out with the bomb.
