OYKW is at his place. He has a bunch of laundry he wants to get done. He’s off tomorrow because tomorrow was to be his day to rest up after he came back from the wilds of west Alabammy. Instead, he gets a goof off day which is always a good thing. He’s makin’ sketties and meatballs for dindin tomorrow. OK, the sauce and the meatballs are already made and in da freezer. Still pasta has to be cooked, sauce and meatballs have to be heated, sallit has to be made and bread has to be toasted so it counts as cookin’. My rule for cookin’ is if’n it involves turnin’ on stove and/or oven, then it’s cookin’.
**sari **- get petunias! They’re pretty and prolific and they’ll last all summer! Yeah, I like petunias!
Supper was pretty good.
Did I mention that a certain feline peed on my side of the bed again? The mattress pad, blanket and comforter have all been laundered. The comforter is spread over some furniture in the little guest room under the running fan - maybe it’ll be dry by tomorrow. It’s way too big for the dryer and we’ve got too much rain in the forecast for it to go outside. The mattress pad and blanket are in the dryer, the sheets are in the washer. Once the sheets are dry, I’ll make the bed. I haven’t decided if I’ll let Taz live.
I feel so sleepified. I have been binge watchin’ Gilmore Girls this evenin’. I know, I know, but I really liked the show so kinda find to be re-watchin’.
I’ve said nitey nite to OYKW so I shall also say the same to y’all. I shall retire to the boudoir to watch teevee until sleepy time.
Laterz!
Nite nite Swampy!…
Cincinnati chili for supper… rat is still missing
I hope the rat comes back. Can you leave treats out for him and lure him back?
Sari I’d be tempted to dig up the pond. If the liner is still intact (if it’s that kind of pond), it might be fun to have fish and lilies and such.
I think I will now go and put away laundry. Don twanna. Nope, not at all.
Ooh, ooh. The cement pond has reached a temp of 89 amurkin just by keeping the cover on it. I’m sure that’s surface temp and it’ll cool off some once we’re in it mixing things up. Still, anything over 80 and I’m in! Swimming after laundry it is.
Yep, I have treats/food stashed in a couple places… keeping an eye on it too to see of any gets eated.
Speaking of eated the chili was really really good!
Not bad but I prefer the basic Number Six.
(And for those of you who need a clue, you don’t have to call me Johnson.)
What in the world is WRONG with that cat? I’ve never experienced or heard of anything like what you’re dealing with from him.
Whew. What a day. TVCTPMO are succeeding. Comcast sucks. Boss is an idiot. Hubby is a baby and an asshole, at times. Some staff are questionable. I am tahred.
Hubs got a call from the Dr office and instead of 6am we need to be at the horsepistol at 1130 so we will leave around 6am ish. Plan is to go to hotel first, unload car and if possible take the hotel shuttle to the horsepistol. We shall see.
As far as lost and found I have lost my patience with the world. Comcast will be getting a poison pen letter for sure. Boooobbbiiiooo Glad you got that snafu fixed but just so incompetent on the part of the insurance carrier. SMH.
**Rosie’s sig. **
G-d yes! I miss my two little pools at the five acres after I married Mrs. Plant. (v.3.0)
Sunny - I could probably ask the neighbor for the liner, she has it and I think she is planning on throwing it away. If it is still any good. I’d want it in a different place though.
FCM I like petunias, but I think they like sun and this is for the shady part of the yard. I think trilliums look nice but I’m not sure how easy there are. I’m not good at plants.
I want perennials, something I can plant, water when necessary, and forget about.
For under the tree, if I can get anything to grow under there at all, I want a ground cover that spreads quickly. Maybe creeping thyme or Irish moss Or, what I’d really like is to have a wild flower mix that you mow in the fall and it reseeds itself each year.
I’ll probably have to rent a tiller, and buy some top soil or something for under there.
I thought about getting some of the seed mats that you just set on the ground and water, but I’ve heard good and bad about them. I think I’d still have to till up the area just because the ground back there is like concrete. Weeds come up here and there but that about it.
Then I don’t know if I want to get seeds or plants.
I think I’m going to pass on mint. Where I was going to plant it is surrounded by sidewalk on three side and my foundation on the other, but I read that mint can go under asphalt and turn up on the other side of the street - so probably not a good idea where I live.
I was shorthanded again at work. My loss prevention guy snagged a petty shoplifter. I got my performance evaluation, got a “meets expectations” and a raise. And looks like I get promoted to store manager for da Hood store.
Since you’re Canadian and a muscian, I would have guessed, “Woodwind_poutine”

The attorney is earning her keep today. We are very close to settling the case. If Tony had been wise enough to work for a county with real insurance, we would have no financial worries. But we are dealing with a self-insurance group. We will settle for an amount that gets us out of debt, with a bit to invest and a few dollars to help the kids through college. If Tonys agency had real insurance, they’d have thrown mid-seven figures, and called themselves lucky to avoid liability for a dispatcher who called out an active house fire when the caller just wanted a thermal camera to check walls.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch: the state indemnity fund only pays salary for one year, unless the officer is declared disabled within the first year. If you happen to be recuperating for more than 12 months, you would have been wiser to have up and died.
Peaches what a pain in the ass. I’m glad it seems to be finally coming to a close.
About every 2 or 3 months, I get righteously pissed about the situation. It will pass. I try to be calm. But this is my quarterly angry night.
My husband has earned better than this.
Oh dear, I don’t know your nickname, but (((hugs))) to you.
I honestly don’t ever intend to be just a drive-by poster, but by the time I get back here a day or a week or two has passed!
An update of sorts, we’re getting married in June at our new house.* We’re also moving into it the day before the wedding. That is, except for my mom will be moving in later (did I mention she was going to be living with us?) and our refrigerator and washer and dryer will arrive when she does.
This has all been and continues to be crazy, but very exciting and wonderful. <3
*Small wedding, immediate family only. Reception/housewarming party to follow later this summer with all mumpers invited.
Happy happy happy congratulations on the move and the marriage. Sounds like you have your priorities in order, and fun stories to drag out a hundred years from now. “Back in my day, we had to wash our drawers out in the creek. And we liked it! You kids and your newfangled washing machines - harumph!”
Want pics!
Best wishes for a positive end to the mountains of paperirk, Lacunae. The whole thing is being an ordeal worthy of crossing the Rockies in winter.
Spake with Little Bro, aka Jay, yesterday, re. plans for him and his SO to visit. I’m hereby renaming her Lupe because that’s not her name (totally logical). Yay and stuff. When Mom was here I took her to IKEA to help me pick an armchair or sofa (both her and Lupe have bad backs), I’m going to go back next week to get that armchair and a foldaway bed. It wouldn’t be polite to make Jay sleep on the floor and given how much space he can take up, it also wouldn’t be polite to make them share a bed designed for one person. Lupe says semi-jokingly that sleeping with him made her understood why twin beds can be a good idea: his bed is supposed to be for two people but Mr Starfish can take up all of it. If they ever redo that bedroom, “two beds” is definitely in the list.
Nothing like starting your day with green bread, and not noticing till after it comes out of the toaster. ick. The cheap white bread is fine, but the whole wheat is now in the garbage. ick.
**FCD **was in major pain this morning - I had to help him put on his shoes. But he insisted on going to work. I hope he uses his cane - it’ll give him something to steady himself if the pain hits really bad. Thursday, he gets the shot - I hope it gives him some relief, poor baby…
It’s raining - that’s 14 consecutive days of rain. rah. The weather folks say it’s a record. And if the forecast is to be believed, we’ll have some rain daily till Sunday. Welcome to mold and mildew May!
**Sticky **- congrats on the house and the impending wedded bliss! (And the nickname you didn’t know is **Peaches **- 'cause she’s a Jawja girl! :D)
Speaking of which: Peaches, good to hear things are about settled. One less stressor to deal with, right?
And on that note, I need to get outta here. Can’t wait to get back to my desk and do more tedious stuff. It’s boring as all get-out and the only challenge is staying conscious, but it’s got to be done, and as the n00b, it’s mine to do. rah.
Happy Tuesday!
