LOST: Season Six 2-Hour Premier 2/2 (6.1/6.2)

BTW…

Dammit, I can’t get the players on ABC and Hulu to work. Anybody have the same problem?

from US? or Canada

if from Canada, CTV’s website has it up http://watch.ctv.ca/lost/season-6/lost-ep-601-602-lax-season-premiere/#clip262971

Are those still around, or are they lost in the mists of time? I think I probably watched them at the time, but I can’t swear to it.

I think IMDB was wrong. Which happens a lot. He played an Other back in Season 3 and had a bout 2 lines.

Agreed. And as much as I love evil genius Ben, it’s great to see “I have no idea what’s going on and I’m really scared” Ben. Although it was great that still lied about Jacob being fine is his totally Ben way.

I think it was awful. This show is now totally tangled up in itself, and not in a good way. What’s with the fuckin’ stupid outfits on everyone also? Those hippie looking motherfuckers and the Chinese guy in a leather vest? The best seasons of this show were 1 and 2 (I was genuinely hooked during this time, because everything was such a huge mystery and there was waaaay more character development and backstory.) Now it’s just an ugly mess.

A really ugly mess.

I’m not happy with where this is going. Am I going to watch it anyway? Yeah. But it will never be as fun as it was back when I first started in on the first few seasons and everything on the island was alluring and interesting.

Damn straight.

I just have to add that I had a nightmare after I saw this episode–a dream with LOST people in it, monsters in it, etc., and then I did something dumb in it and Jack got pissed at me. I told him, “Jack, calm down. You’re stressed out.”

Sheesh.

Where’s the dog? With Rose?

That’s where he was last time we saw him.

Spoiler comment from Lindelof:

Damon Lindelof confirmed in the February 4, 2009 episode of the Official Lost Podcast that Vincent will survive through the end of Season 6

In the case of the sunken island I thought it was fairly obvious until I read

That Ben is alive in the alternate timeline. Which wouldn’t seem to be possible if the bomb is what sunk the island given that he was on the island as a child at the time.

It seems like it was fairly selective…it took all the time travelling Losties at the site and nearby, but it also took one Dharma van. OTOH were there any Dharma people at the site when the flash went off? If so it seems mere proximity was not enough. But since the flash was super selective in zapping people off the Ajira flight, this isn’t so surprising. I think Rose, Bernard, and Vincent are still in the past, and it’s their skeletons that are Adam and Eve…

I also wonder if Jacob can turn into something, and that is what John saw. He’s not the only one unhurt by smoky though. Eko survived his first encounter, it was only after he defied smoky’s demands of an apology the second time that it hurt him. And of course, we saw Ben survive several encounters. It’s not clear what happened with Kate and Juliet. It seemed like the banyan trees were protecting them from smoky, but it did manage to read one or more of them. Did it depart because it liked what ir read, or because it couldn’t get to them?

They should never have given Biff that sports almanac.

It starts next Wednesday the 10th on the digital channel 7TWO with the double ep, while on regular 7 it begins with the first ep only.

I thought it was excellent.

As others have said, he’s Frogurt. Death by flaming arrow in Season 5.

He is also the star of the greatest television commercial of all time:

That’s a good point. We know Radzinsky was there–we saw him beaned in the head with a toolbox or something…no one dragged him off.

And it’s not a conscious/unconscious thing: Sayid was out like a light and he got pulled into the future.

I expect the flash only affected the people who had been flashing previously. Are we sure that the flash took the Dharma van? The Losties had a van in 2004, so maybe that’s the one they’re using after the flash.

Is it possible that there’s more than one Smoke Monster?

Smokey/Locke (Smocke?) seemed to be kind of a dull grayish in color, and IIRC it’s previously appeared as an almost inky black.
And during one of Eko’s encounters - one of the few times we got a good close look - it seemed to actually be comprised of images, which didn’t look to be the case this time around.

Perhaps Jacob and Esau both have the ability to “Smoke Out”?.
Of course they could all be Esau, as he obviously can change his appearance in human form, so I suppose he can in smoke form as well. Or it’s just inconsistent FX.

I guess Esau never talked to Rose & Bernard about being the “only one” not to want to leave the island thing.

/Sorry if this has been mentioned in the previous 6 pages.

Does anyone have a theory about who Jacob was referring to after he was stabbed and said to Flocke, “They’re coming”? It sounded like a warning, and Flocke seemed…concerned. I don’t think Jacob meant the group that was carrying Locke’s body, because it appears they’re really no threat to Flocke. Any ideas?

I actually had the same reaction at first, especially with the mysterious Japanese guy. It seemed extraneous to me. But…

This would be awful if there were 3 more seasons to go and we had to put up with the development of all these new characters and end up completely forgetting some older characters and bits of old canon…but there aren’t 3 more seasons to go.

Introduction of new characters and new sets kind of sucks but this is the beginning of the end, and this new mess is going to be, presumably, the answer to the old mess so I’m on board with it.

Plus, you gotta remember that when this show was developed they had a beginning, middle and end planned out. But ABC had other plans. So they had to glue in bits and pieces to stretch it out which undoubtedly changed their original story. So we have to just go with it.

It’ll be ok!

Why was Jacob’s body consumed so quickly in the fire? Was he made of paper?
