Lucifer Season 6 (open spoilers)

I haven’t read the comic book/graphic novel so my only experience of these characters is the TV show.

Yes, it’s all sort of happily-ever-after but there was a lot of delayed gratification in there, and things weren’t and still aren’t perfect even if for many they are better. Also, all the happy endings had to be earned, they weren’t just magically granted. I got the impression that all the paired-off folks would still have family arguments, bad things still happened to good people, and for damn sure hell was still full of nasty sorts.

I wasn’t entirely happy with the ending, BUT I didn’t hate it with the red hot heat of 1000 stars, unlike some other shows I could mention. I think I’ll sit with it a bit and see what I think in a few days.

a nice long interview with the show runners. gives a window into their thinking.

I was pretty okay with the ending. It was entertaining and everyone got a story line with a resolution. I did get a chuckle that Lucifer recreated Linda’s office in Hell for his own use.

I also wonder why Lucifer had to devote all his time to redeeming people at the expense of his family, but Amenadiel could part-time the whole God thing by farming out his work and still spending time on earth with his family. I get the whole “promise-to-the-daughter” thing, but it still seems unnecessary. Missing out on his daughter’s first 20 years may seem like no time to an immortal, but it’s a pretty significant period for any parent to miss in their child’s life.

40+ years, as in the above interview they said chloe was in the 80 to 90 range and trixie was 65-70.

it is up in the air on how charlie and rory develop as they are the first (in this world) hybrid with physical development. lucifer and his siblings were created as adults and did not have physical childhoods. they do have mental childhoods though and it seems many of them are in the adolescent stage.

If he hadn’t ‘abandoned’ Rory, then he messes up the future and possibly her existence (and certainly her growth as an entity). Not sure why he and Clothe couldn’t meet up in Hell/Miami/wherever, but I guess an abundance of caution (and Lucifer never lies, so maybe his code wouldn’t let him cheat the promise).

I’m a little sad that Charlie got his wings - would have been a nice bit of growth for Amenagod to have to deal with (although he had accepted that his son wasn’t going to have them, and the fist pump was nice).

I wondered why Trixie wasn’t also with Rory at Chloe’s deathbed. Small nit.

Incidentally, did anyone recognize the actress who played Rory without checking IMDB? I knew she looked familiar but wouldn’t have figured it out by myself.

Well you don’t have to call her names!

I never checked to be sure but I think she is in Deadpool II, which I have not watched yet, just seen the trailers for. I don’t recognize her from anything else.

the showrunners had 2 scenes written, one with older trixie and charlie (trixie would be 65-70) and others, and one with rory only. they decided on rory only.

there are many times when someone passes, not everyone is in the room, or doing shifts.

now that the time line caught up, i reckon on after a hell shaking reunion, lucifer drops chloe off in heaven and goes to earth to be with rory and trixie as they deal with the close of chloe’s earthly life.

Well… we don’t, actually, know they didn’t, only that he was never involved in Rory’s life after that. If they did, however, they’d have to be very, very careful.

They probably didn’t.

But as Rory said - when you have eternity ahead of you a few decades don’t make much difference in the long term. Chloe had already been to heaven and hell, she knew there was an afterlife waiting for her, so maybe, although she missed Lucifer, knowing they would reunite and that he was helping lost souls might have been sufficient consolation for her as she got on with her own life.

In the interview link above, ildy said that she thinks that Lucifer and Chloe do meet up from time to time. That he would be skulking around now and again. Lucifer promised that he would not change Rory, not stay off of earth.

And to Choe! I hated it.

I’ll adjust my mental picture. Still a little irked though.
