I made tuna with lo-cal mayo on wholewheat with a sliced hard boiled egg, mescaline greens, and tomato. With baby carrots and humus on the side and two dill pickles. Desert was a peach. It was nutritious and delicious.
What kinds of greens, now?
Yeah, I’ll have what s/he’s having!
I had a 6-inch spicy italian sub from Subway with waaaaay too many jalapenos and onions and now my eyes are watering and I’m practicaly sweating. Damn it was good.
Hubby took me to a new place, Pigskin Grill. I had the salmon croquettes, rice and turnip greens. It was good but a little pricey - they give a lot of food though! I still have some left for supper.
I’ve been having beef and tomato sandwiches with added tartare sauce.
There’s a burrito place in Los Alamos called El Parasol (the umbrella). My favorite thing there is the chicharone (crackling) burrito with green chile. I also splurged and had green chile cheese fries today. Pure awesomeness.
That’s what I always get, minus the onions. My favorite phrases are, “put twice as many jalapenos as you think is disgusting”, or “a bunch of jalapenos, please” followed by, “can I get some more, please”. With chipolte dressing, of course.
I haven’t had lunch yet, but when I do I’m pretty sure it’s going to involve Rainier Cherries. Possibly those will be my whole lunch.
Yeah, and WHAT was she dipping her carrots in again?? And I guess the peach was really dry.
(Sorry, I just got out of the “People can’t spell” thread. All joshing aside, and with the proper substitutions, that does sound fresh and nummy.)
I made salad - spinach leaves, broccoli slaw, a little chopped red onion, grape tomatoes, sliced water chestnuts, mandarin oranges, yellow pepper chunks, edamame, a tiny sprinkle of cashews and a little bit of crunchy wontons. I heated up some TJ’s frozen chicken breast and mixed it in to the salad with TJ’s spicy peanut vinaigrette. Delicious!
I had a chicken and bean burrito from Moe’s, where when you walk through the door they yell
WELCOME TO MOE’S!!!
It was pretty good, but I think my afternoon would have been improved by the addition of some mescaline greens.
I had a homemade salad too. Those Rainier cherries sound awesome.
I’d never heard of them until this thread, and wow, the wikipedia page says they go for up to $1 a cherry in Japan. If that’s accurate, that better be the best damn cherry I’ve ever eaten.
You can tell it’s Rainier cherry season in my house, as they don’t agree with my digestive system. But I luuuuuuuuuurves me some Rainier cherries. Think I’ll go have some now.
I had a wonderful chirashi sushi bowl from a local Japanese grocery. It’s sliced assorted sashimi arranged over a bow of sushi rice. If you get it from this grocery’s pre-made section, it’s a bargain. Tuna, squid, clam, egg, shrimp and salmon roe - yummers.
I chased it with “Lambert” cherries, a variety available from a local orchard about three days out of the year. Fantastic, is what they are (were - I believe they’re all gone until next June).
cainxinth, they are pretty expensive. I’ve paid anywhere from $8-$10/lb for them, and been completely happy to do so. They are soooo good. And they never have time to go bad, because I could easily eat 3/4lb in a sitting.
When I was between the ages of 9 & 12 we lived near a sort of random fruit orchard that was probably owned by the city, but the man next door took care of it in exchange for all the fruit in it. I was introduced to the lovely little yellow & red cherries then (one tree, plus one bing cherry tree). It’s not only the best fruit in the world; for me it’s a little slice of childhood memories. (Like climbing the apricot tree and throwing rotten apricots at each other!)
Hey, I went to Moe’s too. Got a steak quesadilla that I took to work and wolfed down at my desk. Now my stomach hurts.
Rainiers should be available here in about a week or so. (They may be here now, but weren’t when I was at the produce market this past weekend.) July is cherry month in Ohio and Michigan.
Leftover almond-wood smoked tri-tip, sliced thin on the bias and sandwiched between two slices of sheepherder’s bread with spicy mustard and havarti. That’s a mighty fine sandwich.
But now I’m craving cherries. Off to the U-Pick this weekend!
This is my favorite time of year in Seattle. We get to see the sun and Rainier cherries are here! They are the best cherries you will ever eat.
