My lunch was delicious

Definitely mundane and incredibly pointless, but I just have to mention it.

I’m having a hard time working right now- I just came back from lunch at Applebee’s, where I go about once a year. I had the Oriental Grilled Chicken Salad- holy mother of pearl, that was damn good. I’m sitting here trying to concentrate on what I’m doing but the flavor of it is beckoning me back, as if I need to go get a second one. You know how sometimes you’re eating something that’s so damn good that you can’t eat it slowly, because every second your mouth isn’t enjoying the delectable flavor of the food is sheer torture? That’s how I feel right now.

God damn, that was a good salad. I don’t know what the hell they put in it to give it such a great taste, but I want to make a pillow out of it.
Yum.

I know what you mean. There’s many a time I have to remind myself that having two meals in a row would be hard on the stomach and the wallet, even though the first one was just so good I want to taste more. I haven’t had that oriental chicken salad in a while, but it was pretty tasty as I recall.

I had a gyro and fries for lunch. Real, spiced beef, tomato, and onions, with that tasty tzaziki sauce, and thick, almost steak fries, fresh out of the fryer. Delicious. I love treating myself on Fridays.

I just had Special Fried Rice, takeout from the little hole-in-the-wall Chinese place near my work. It was yummy, and it will be yummy again for lunch tomorrow, provided I can remember to get the leftovers out of the fridge on my way out. There’s a fork sitting on top of my purse to remind me.

This Chinese place has tables for eating in, but it’s really only a good idea when the weather is nice, since they have neither heat nor air conditioning. It’s good food, though, and I have seen people eating there in the winter, bundled up in their coats.

Subway Club, tomatoes, green peppers, olives, Swiss cheese, honey oat bread. Not bad at all.

I’m very much regretting my lunch. I got fish and chips, mostly because they looked incredibly tasty when I was standing in line at the cafeteria, but it became rapidly apparent after a couple of bites that it was a big mistake.

Now my insides feel all gross and greasy. :stuck_out_tongue:

Moral of the story: get the chicken fingers and fries next time, no matter how appealing the fish is looking that day.

I had Cajun Chicken Pasta. Homemade. Very good.

I had leftovers of the most delicious kind. I made a casserole-type thing that has a layer of mashed potatoes, a layer of diced chicken, a layer of corn and a layer of country gravy topped with buttermilk biscuits. Mmmm, so tasty!

My lunch was popcorn. Left the house in too much of a rush this morning.

Dinner will be better.

I was just mulling the idea of online-ordering some BBQ from a place I went to a while back. It is several hours from my home, but keeps calling my name. Yum!

I had a great lunch the other day, and from the cafeteria at work even. It was a spiced Moroccan carrot wrap with goat cheese, baby spinach and green olive tapenade. Very yummy - I’d never had a carrot sandwich before.

Why yes, I do live in Northern California.

I love that Oriental Chicken Salad, too. Last night we went to Applebee’s and I ordered their new California Shrimp Salad- it comes with an avocado dressing. It was nasty- I hated it! The dressing tasted like sour mayonnaise to me. But I feel weird sending something back just because I don’t like it and there’s nothing wrong with it, so I ate it. Yuck.

The other day, I visited the Bar-B-Cutie, & had their barbecued pork sandwich, fries, & sweet tea.

I went with the hot sauce, because it burns my mouth & lips in a wonderful way! Really. My face tingles for 45 minutes afterwards.

You know, of course. that you must share the recipe for this, right? I yearn for this right now!

corkboard though I’m not a big fan, I gotta agree with ya about Applebee’s Oriental Grilled Chicken Salad

It is really pretty simple and an incredibly delicious way to use up leftovers from time to time. You take 2 servings of mashed potatoes (instant are fine, but I prefer to use leftover mashed red potatoes from a previous meal if possible) and spread them evenly across the bottom of a 9x9 pan. Then dice a cooked chicken breast (possibly also from a previous meal) and place it in the pan. Next drain a can of corn and put it in the pan on top of the potatoes and chicken. Then make some country gravy and pour over everything else in the pan. Then open a can of buttermilk biscuits or mix up some biscuit dough and place them evenly over the top of everything else. Place in the oven and cook at 350 for about 15 to 20 minutes or until biscuits are fully cooked. Then enjoy the most delicious casserole in the world!

I actually stole the idea from one of those homebake things I see at the store all the time. It is cheaper and tastier to make it on your own though instead of getting the box mix, trust me on this one. Also the box mix leaves out the corn which is a very pertinent part of the whole casserole.

I husband was between jobs this last week, which meant he was available to try a couple of the local places I like for lunch.

One place is “Neto’s Sausage Company,” a Portuguese deli which serves lunch only one day a week. They set up a 'cue in their parking lot and grill up linguica and Italian sausage, and serve them in a sandwich. We both got linguica sandwiches and ate them at the card tables they set up in the lot. Lovely, lovely meat - they flatten out a half a pound of naked sausage meat into a big rectangular patty to fit a French roll, grill it over coals until it’s crusty, then dress it up with pickles, peppers, mustard and mayo. Yum!

I noticed that the place drew a lot of young guys from the local college, as well as shirt-and-tie businessmen. Yelp.com is a wonderful thing!

KFC has been pushing the same thing for a while now. I thought it looked awful, but now I may have to try the home-made version.

My lunch was lasagna leftover from a few days ago. Num num.
