Luther - Stringer B...er, I mean Idris Elba is back

So someone else must be watching Luther on BBC One Monday nights?

What did people think of it? The first episode was very enjoyable - I like the character and think Elba is excellent in the role.

The ‘baddie’, Alice Morgan, is nicely creepy and fun to watch because she’s also fairly hot - there’s enough people on this board that like redheads and girls with English accents, so I’m sure that’s enough reason to watch.

Second episode was also really good - slight spoiler found the fact that he didn’t get shot at the end meant suspending disbelief somewhat, since the psychopath had already been proven a remorseless killer, but it was still very enjoyable.

I like the dark undertones to this show, and the fact that it’s not taking itself entirely seriously (I think, anyway, it’s not really making jokes, but I know what I mean.).

So…anyone else watching this?

Will it be shown on this side of the pond any time soon?

I don’t know when it’ll be appearing officially, but someone over there obviously has access.

If it doesn’t ever make it over, and you can’t find it, I’m sure I could send something over if anyone’s desperate.

bump since the third one is on this evening…I’ll let it sink if no-one bites

Ok - had to resurrect this.
This show is great and terrible.
The maverick cop who has relationship difficulties is sooo old, but the cases are great. Idris is some presence on the screen but the dialogue is so clunky sometimes it drives me nuts.
Last night’s episode had a huge unexpected shock for me - but as Ihaven’t mastered spoilers I’ll leave it at that.
Idris and Alice are fantastic though, and the way it’s shot is very interesting too; odd framing, washed out colours - it’s a show with loads of positive things but just doesn’t make it to ‘great’.
I think it’s a problem of tone, but i reckon would storm bbc u’s’

UK dopers?

MiM

I do agree…it is a touch formulaic in its set-up and concept, but the implementation seems to be done well. It’s filmed will and looks nice on screen.

Re: Last night’s episode
I particularly liked the foreshadowing of DCI Reed being bent when in the previous week he ‘tipped off’ the serial killer. It made you doubt him, but suspect it was a play and left you completely trusting him.

So his betrayal, and finding out that he’s just a bastard in it for the money, pretending to care about his prosecutions is all the more shocking. I can’t believe he’s willing to leave it all on Luther - it took me a while to realise why the kitchen had been trashed, the teasers for next week’s ep (finale) make it look like it’ll be an excellent conclusion.
All in all, watch it, people.

He is a rising star, An “A” list Actor. Eloquent, gifted, talented and regal. Idris has 3 fb sites with over 2,000,000 woman waiting for him to speak daily. American Gangsters, taken, gospel. He is british and distinguish and the most devalued actor I’ve seen. We are waiting for the next DENZEL WASHINGTON an uncompromisingly dominant actor. Obessed was good it could have been better if they went and little deeper into the life of his stalker. We are starved for a astonishing talented and sexy actor of his caliber. Where are all the romantic leads? Where is our Brad Pitt? Majority of his fans are woman but he does gangster movies, scary movies. He doing an alien movie next. Does anyone see us longing for a romantic lead.
