There are hot dogs (Kosher hot dogs, by the way) and there is relish. Chili comes tomorrow, but I have not been able to find any vegan hot dogs, so I question the need for vegan chili to go on the empty buns (which I do have) where the vegan hot dogs aren’t. I have some Dr. Someone’s vegan burgers, which I can crumble up into chili sauce, if there is an outcry for it, but otherwise, I am feeding the carnivores, and the vegans can put onion relish on whatever they want. (It’s also kosher, by the way.) The vegan burgers do have both wheat, and soy in them, for the allergic, and I have no idea if they are kosher. I doubt it.
I have plenty of dogs, not as many buns. How many people are there?
While I can certainly understand your concern about not bringing enough whatever, I’ve been to several of these thingies at Gingy’s, and I’ve never seen them run out of food (of course, I don’t stay until danceswithcats goes home, so maybe the running out part happens later in the day. . .)
Anyway, I don’t think it’s a big concern. If we do run out of anything semi-important, there’s plenty of stores and stuff around, and someone can run out and pick something up. I believe we did run out of Diet Coke last time, actually. But someone went out and picked some more up, and it was all good.
That’d be nice, thanks. I’ll pick some up but it’ll be off-brand because I’m cheap like that and I don’t drink it so I don’t care. That’s ok for mixing with alcohol, but not usually so nice for drinking straight.
To me, the flavored generics are fine (root beer, orange, grape), but generic colas are nasty. Just a personal preference. But I’ll bring some of the stuff we like.
Our plans may change ever-so-slightly. Hubby is trying to do something geeky to our computer that involves throwing some upgrades at it, and there’s a computer show in Towson tomorrow, where he thinks he can get some good deals on some stuff he needs. Therefore, he’s now thinking of coming with us, staying at the party long enough to decimate the deviled egg supply, and then head on to the computer show. He’ll leave we girls there to talk, eat, laugh, drink (I might even try a whole beer), and be generally charming (and in the case of at least one of us, muddy).
Publicly, officially, it looks like I’ll be there myself, after work in DC, bringing beer. I thank you for the invite, Ginger, and look forward to meeting a bunch of people I’ve never met before!
By the way, in a former self, I would be a local, having grown up North of you, attending Pine Grove Elementary, Pine grove Middle and Loch Raven High. So I count as a local!
Unfortunately, folks, it looks like I won’t be able to make it. I’m exhausted as it is, and I doubt I’ll be that much better after helping finish the set for our musical tomorrow.
CRAPCRAPCRAPCRAPCRAP! supervenusfreak and I have somehow gotten the notion that this party was TOMORROW and we’ve been planning and running with that for the last two or three weeks! I have no idea if we’re going to be able to run through our List Of Things To Do today with enough time to actually get there before everyone’s gone.
Okay, for the time being, assume that we’re not going to be there, but hope that we will. It’s completely up in the air now, because we have something like 10 different things we have to do today, only one of which is finished at this point (getting the car inspected). We will be trying, though.
Gingy, can you email me directions again? We’re in the process of rearranging our schedule (some things can be moved to tomorrow) and we’re hoping to still be there.
Well, looks like we’re going to be there after all. We pushed everything to tomorrow that we could and finished up what we needed to do today. supervenusfreak is making fruit salad as we speak and we should be heading out of here around 1ish.
And thank you, danceswithcats, for sending me the directions. We got rid of all our dead-tree mapquest stuff (two years worth!) that was stuffed into the door pockets of the car and I forgot to hold these directions out…
