In Richmond, VA at this point, it’s cold and wet and rainy and vile, but that’s it. There was some ice accumulation earlier. It’s the suckiest weather what ever did suck.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that the roads will stay nice and lovely through Sunday night, so that Dope the Halls driving won’t blow.
What really sucks is that inevitably I’ll be low on milk, or TP, or bread and if I go out to buy them ( as I would be doing anyway, snow or no snow ), I look like one of the paniced sheep.
Gopher, the B-more area Xmas party is Saturday at my house if you want to come. Check the “Dope the Halls III” thread.
I had a good 6" on the ground this morning. I swear there must be some sort of magical line that sperates Maryland from DC as when I came to work this morning there was no snow. They are calling for another 6 tonight.
And more MADs that I didn’t know existed! Snow or no snow, we’re doing Dope-The-Halls tomorrow. Come and have fun!
Schools in the county were closed today, which means my gym is also closed as they follow the school weather closing schedule. Yay Bawlmer.
We had 6" at least. I had to drive into the next county to work and there was nothing on the ground and it was raining. Weird stuff.
I brushed about 2" off the car this morning, while one of my co-workers who lives in Catonsville claimed to have at least 6". The city roads were a little snowy, but OK. 295 was just a little wet. By the time I got to the office (south of the city on Ritchie Highway) it was all slushy. They’re calling for what, another 2-4" this weekend?
It snowed last night, maybe an inch, but had turned to rain by the time I woke up at 7:30.
I’m at school in Shippensburg, PA right now, and it’s coming down like, well, snow. The weather people are calling for 12-16" by the time the storm blows over. A bunch of schools were closed for the weather and I’m on pager alert in case Aaron’s daycare closes early.
Robin
we had a good 5" and we’re not far from Catonsville. More joy to come it sounds like. As I sit here in DC all I see is rain; not a flake to be had (besides myself of course)
My mother in Phila. says it’s been snowing its head off for hours—none yet in NYC, but we’re expecting 6"–12" through tomorrow night.
It started snowing about 9:15 this morning in Central NJ – last weather report was for a total of 4"-7" or 6"-12", depending on who you want to believe.
In my next life, I definitely want to be a meteorologist – if you’re right, you did it; if you’re wrong, the computer model did it.
I just wanted to let you all know that I’m listening to a feed from home (Yellowknife) on CBC. They just read the weather, and I started to laugh.
I’m in Frederick, where schools been cancelled. There’s about 5 inches, of good, sticky, powdery wonderful snow! Ha! And, we’re supposed to get more!
I’m seeing the snow start to pile up in good old Covington. We’re in school, but we’re expecting something around 4 inches, I think.
This morning in Philadelphia (Center City), it’s snowing pretty hard some 20 floors up. The streets are clear, and there’s minimal accumulation on the sidewalks.
I did have to brush about 3 inches of “minimal accumulation” off my car this morning, though.
Just as Hamadryad has eir fingers crossed, my latest wish in the Corrupt a Wish game is for good driving conditions tomorrow to Dope the Halls.
Wow—now, that’s accumulation!!
When I left Middle River this morning (at about 5:00), I brushed a couple or three inches off of my truck. On my way to work, I lost the snow south of Laurel on 95, and picked it up again as I got off of 495 onto 270. By the time I got to Rockville (at 6:45) we had about 3 inches here. We’re getting some freezing rain or sleet now.
I love the snow, I just hate driving in it while sharing the road with idiots…
You’re in rare form today, Ma’am.
There’s maybe half an inch here now, possibly more. It was snowing like mad earlier (predictably between classes when I had to hike all the way across the hills of campus), but it’s tapered off. Supposed to be off and on throughout the day and night. Lovely. But at least I don’t have to trudge through the snow (risking life and limb on the sidewalks) any more unless I absolutely want to.
