Mafia: Baker Street [Game in progress]

I’m just annoyed because if my memory of the voting patterns over the game is accurate, his reveal means gnarlycharlie and Daphneblack are going to be insufferable.

I stand by everything I said in-game then. This would have been incredibly valuable for town to know, and it would have made me reconsider the beginning of the game. Maybe it would have led me down the correct path (probably not, the way this game went), but it would have helped. There was no pro-town value in keeping town in the dark on this once scum TexCat illustrated that the scum knew.

Agreed.

Well done, Darth!

Yeah, I’d probably shoot it down. It’s a good strategy, just not a particularly fun one.

I played poorly, but I would still like to know why my results were not the same as Daphne’s :frowning:

What I mean is that I suggest it and then the rest of my scum team ends up suggesting a skilled player to kill. We go with that almost always.

Yep, that is what I hear sometimes.

So! Besides the obvious verbal missteps I made throughout the game, why was everyone so sure I was scum? Let’s (try to) make me better.

One more secret: The double-kill at the end there was Story’s gift to Darth to re-balance the game. Darth could have used this ability earlier, but was wise to put it off: As soon as Town saw a double-kill, they probably would have concluded that that was the re-balance, and rejected the idea of recruitment… And the false idea of recruitment was very valuable to Scum.

I mainly aimed at people who I thought were unlikely to be mislynched and wouldn’t be watched (though I was pretty sure there wasn’t much left in the game at that point - Gnarly surprised me somewhat). At least sometimes, I thought that lead me to night killing the quiet, because people like Astral and Sinjin just kept loudly earning votes.

Vibe.

:ducks and runs away:

I was convinced you were Town pretty much the moment TexCat turned up scum. The only thing that made me waiver was your stopping your own lynch. Messing with the lynch is incredibly anti-town. But I couldn’t come up with a reason for scum to have acted the way you were about the lynch-block either so…

My interpretation is that you were perceived to be “scummy” because you posted a lot. That’s pretty much it. Basically, by posting a lot, you give Town plenty of fodder to think about and decide that you are acting scummy. This was probably the lowest post count by scum ever. No posts; nothing to look ‘scummy’.

The only scum players that posted a decent amount got caught!

I think our games are in a rut. The winning strategy for scum is to skate by and post as little as possible. Town players are plenty busy as well and don’t post, so there isn’t any way to distinguish not-posting player A from not-posting player B. Part of the reason I don’t play anymore is because I can’t handle being scum. It simply is not possible for me to post at the same volume I do as Town when I’m scum. I can’t do it.

The four player mod-kill was also not conducive to supporting the game. While it eliminated 2 scum and 2 town, storyteller called it right when he said the game should be shut down. Finding one scum in a large set is actually not all that much fun. Why storyteller gave the possibility of recruitment without actually doing it confuses me. It pretty much eliminated what little power the Town had to win. Though I would concede that the post record was paltry to begin with.

Once again I ask: can I get spoilers?

i was afraid of this. good game. i wish we didn’t need so many mod kills. well i pegged two. too bad my investigations on them were worthless.

I’d like spoilers too, please!

i also agree that the no Night mechanic was great.

Sinjin, I don’t think storyteller ever gave anyone spoilers.

Me too.

I don’t know how your power really worked, but did you consider investigating someone twice? Obviously a read of ‘scum’ was definitive, but if you found a ‘town,’ a second read would give more information. Two ‘town’ reads would be about 75% chance of being scum.

i considered it but i was hoping to clear players more than getting a scum read which was still not 100%.

imagine, if i were a regular cop, scum would have been left with two missing players.
