Mafia: Conspiracy 2: The Cabal Strikes Back! [Game Over]

unvote hawkeyeop

Man, this Nanook train is certainly rolling. I’m minorly concerned about that since these things can often turn into a Catch-22, where people vote for the leader just because no one else has a chance of getting lynched, thus guaranteeing the lynch. Tunnel vision is not good for the town. The good news is that we’ve got plenty of time left in the Day, so hopefully some other candidates will get “vetted.”

As to Nanook himself, I admit to being torn. My feeling is that “slips” like these are usually nothing, and little things often get seized on (particularly early on) and ridden to death, literally. On the other hand, we got burned badly by storyteller in Cecilvania when he made a slip and we let him live, so I’m sensitive to it now.

I’m going to hold off voting for now and see if there’s anything else that I can dig up.

Actually, its amazing how often these little slips are indicative of a scummy orientation. Several times I’ve declined to vote for someone who has made one of these slips, and they’ve turned out to be scum.

On the other hand, if I do vote for the player who makes the slip, they turn out to be town. Consequently it follows that I should not, under any circumstances, vote for Nanook. That’ll guarantee he has an anti-Town role.

Decisions, decisions.

I’ll risk not being able to vote and get a reread in over the weekend.

I’m going to do the same thing as Hawkeyepop, because I’ve been reading and contributing but do not feel there is a strong lynch candidate, and I’m afraid I’ll forget and not get a vote in, and I don’t want to be the dumbass who breaks all the rules after I just barely escaped getting modkilled already. I obviously intend to vote, but who knows, my internet could burn down.

This is not conducive to our goal. At least put an effort into faking some reasons for voting for somebody?

Well, it helps our goal as it keeps a town member from getting mod killed. But I do plan on making a real vote whenever I catch up.

Personally, I refuse to jump on the Nanook bandwagon because even if it is a slip it isn’t even necessarily a scum slip, and I won’t vote against Cat just for proposing an idea that, while I think it’s anti-town, I see why somebody who’s town would go for it. I’m waiting and watching for a more suitable lynch candidate to appear out of the discussion; I don’t think the people who initially jumped all over Nanook were particularly scummy, nor the people who began voting for Cat. So I’m holding off but don’t want to be mod-killed because that certainly doesn’t help the town.

BTW, I think you mixed up the colors, and it sounds like Pleo is being a stickler

Argh, of course I’d screw it up. I intend to get at least a preliminary vote in by the weekend, hopefully, anyway. I just didn’t want to be Problem Girl who can’t do anything right!

I’ve got to agree. Since the Celtics handed Los Angeles their collective heads on a platter I am going to assume that the Mod cranky quotient is going to be at a high level.

Is lynching the person who pisses off the mod a valid strategy?

Santo Rugger - Valid points , but I remain concerned the Nannok bandwaggon (is it too early to call it that) is distracting from other conversations.

Well, the best action you could take would be to:

  1. Defend yourself, again, vigorously, even though you say you have exhausted your arguments

or, failing that, since you already put a second option on the table

  1. Claim, giving us enough chance to judge your claim on its merits. We do not want to have to choose an alternate lynchee under pressure
What do I think you are? I’m sure I don’t know. I doubt anyone else knows. Do you mean to say you left some clue as to your faction?

<Snipped>

There were some obvious discrepancies in your posts. Although, this is my third game it seems like there were some “general” rules that have been at times floated.

  1. Scum skim - they don’t have to read everthing because they already know who everyone is.

  2. Lynch the Lurker - get those people flying under the radar because posts can come back to haunt you if they are manufactured.

  3. Go after someone who says something that just resonates the wrong way.

I’ve advocated 2) in the past in the absence of anything else. Since this is a game of participation if you are not posting you are either not helping or trying clumsily to hide something.

So since we have a 3) my vote will stand, for now.

You can’t stand by 1 in this game, though - the scum won’t be skimming because they need to know who the other scum are, too. The Vampire, for example, is very dangerous to other scum.

Very good point, do we have a second option, or should we start looking anytime today? If Nanook claims and it looks valid , we could end up in a situation of getting bowled into making a sub optimal lynch or no lynch.

Frankly I see Nannook lack of defense as either he is doomed and he knows it or has been hoping this will blow over and does not want to role claim because he has good town reasons not to role claim, or scum and is hoping it will blow over.
If he does role claim what then? Most of the town roles probablycan´t show anything to proove anything at this point.
he is either
A) scum and lying,
B) town and lying becuase he is has a powerful role and a special power, or
C) town and telling the truth.
(I am assuming if he is scum he won´t role claim his true role.)

Oddly enough, however, I think the Vampire has the most incentive to kill randomly in this game. This may be anti-vamp bias from me from the last game, but I do think any Serial Killer will feel fine about killing anyone, Wolf, Town, or Cabal. As long as there’s one wolf alive, killing continues, which is all the Vamp needs. Remember that the two killing anti-town factions don’t actually need each other dead, only to be a majority during their respective times (Day/Night).

<Snipped> and [bolding] mine.

What makes you so sure about the bolded part of your quote?

I do feel that if Nanook is going to claim he should do it now, while we have time to discuss it and think it over. At this time it does not appear that a mass unbandwagoning will occur unless somebody makes a slip.

I do not want to get into a situation where we have multiple claims on Day One. I feel that **Nanook ** should claim soon enough that his claim can be evaluated, but I would rather no lynch than have another claim toDay. I would prefer to go into Night One with the scum factions having as little information as possible and hope for cross-kills. I may advocate a No Lynch for Day One only. I realize this may be controversial, but if we back town after town up against the wall and force claims today, we give the scum factions too much ammo. Even if we put scum on the block, we will have to evaluate the claims. On Day One (and toDay only folks) I think we should evaluate no more than 2 claims and lynch 1. Second to that I prefer not to lynch at all. I hope this is making sense because I’m tired and about to go to sleep.
