You know, the only role I can think that would use this particular turn of phrase is the Necromancer. I know you corrected it straight after, but even so…
You don’t happen to have some nefarious Nighttime activites do you?

For some strange reason Diomedes, I’m not really buying this.
Seeing as the undead do not know each other, how do you know that **pedescribe ** was your Vampire buddy.
You are a lone vampire, so how do you know if it was a Vigilante or Vampire or Wolf who killed Roosh. Instead you are sure it was a Wolf kill :dubious:
This is a joke, right? How exactly does my use of the word “curse” imply that I’m a Necromancer?
It’s something from the first game. When I claimed Necro, I said that my secret power was to curse someone so they would die if I was lynched. Something Rysto pointed out on the Witch boards was that the use of the word curse was a very strong scumtell that perhaps I wasn’t actually the Necro. The term came from the fact I could pass on a curse as a Night Kill and recruit someone. Ditto for the wolves as well. Those were the only “curses” in the game IIRC.
The point being is that “curse” is not a word the Town would use to describe a Night action.
Let’s just say you pinged my scumdar with that phrase.
Except that the word is used only 4 times in the rules, all of which are in the night action description of a certain role that begins with a W and ends with a K.
If that’s all it takes to ping your scumdar, I really hope that aren’t actually the detective.
True, the action taken is to enchant the player, the curse being the rebound effect.
Apologies
Omi No Kami: A question for you.
From the above it seems that you voted for pedescribe because you thought you were close to being End of Day.
Would this be the end of Day 1 or the End of Day 2?
I actually think I’m getting myself turned around: now that I’ve re-read the thread I think my panic vote was the one for Day 1, where I voted for Nanook. I had more than 48 hours left, but I hadn’t kept sufficient track of things and really didn’t want to get modkilled.
If that was the case, then I’m more than happy to defend my Day 2 vote as being legitimate. Either Pede or Storyteller were obviously scum, since their disagreement wouldn’t make sense otherwise, and like I said when I voted, Storyteller’s story seemed markedly less suspicious.
Especially since I clearly explained this rationale when I made the vote, I think the issue of timing is largely insignificant: I voted when I’d decided which suspicions to act on, and nothing throughout the rest of the day gave me cause to change my mind.
So I was out mos of yesterday, and came back to find that Nanook wants to lynch Diomedes so he can have a nice wolfskin rug for his study, and Dio claims to be a bloodsucking vampire, (who’s skin won’t make a good throw rug, being singularly devoid of hair).
This makes a good chance to test Nanook’s claim, so I’m going to join the mob.
Vote Diomedes.
I need to spend a couple of hours on RL things. Back later.
Vig kill doesn’t make sense. Too early in the game for a Vig to use their powers willy-nilly.
But, in general, of course I’m not sure. It just seems the most likely situation. I don’t need to defend myself anymore, so I’m just putting out my interpretation of events without the standard, wheezy disclaimers that we make to give ourselves plausible deniability.
Well, this’ll be interesting. It appears much has happened since last I checked in. Quick re-read, and then back with commentary.
OK, well, this seems pretty cut-and-dry. Given that I would prefer to reduce the numbers of a scum faction other than the Cabal right now, what with two dead certain-Caballeros running around (well, not running or doing anything, really, other than being dead, but you know what I mean), it doesn’t much matter to me whether Diomedes is a Wolf or a Vampire (actually, if he’s a Vampire, his death will be hugely helpful, in that it will net us a dead Nanook scum and reduce the number of Night kills, which are out of our collective control, by one).
So clearly, vote Diomedes
Worth noting: If Dio is not a Wolf, that’s tangible evidence that Nanook is lying, and up the flagpole he goes the very minute we get confirmation of this. But if he is a Wolf, we must not assume anything about Nanook. The Cabal could have secret investigative powers; so could the Undead. For that matter, Nanook and Dio could both be Wolves.
Probably not a big deal, because Nanook has claimed a role with independent confirmation; sooner or later, another Witch will emerge and he/she and Nanook will either identify one another or not. But it’s worth remembering.
OK, so what now? We’re going to have the better part of the Day to discuss now, since the death of Diomedes is a foregone conclusion. I’m going to start with a quick synopsis of everything that we know so far, and go from there.
There is no Diomedes
Well damn, the name change had to go through before you got strung up.
Vote P.I.
I still like Gastard better
Bye Dio, welcome BSPI.
You guys post a lot on the weekends. I need to do a real reread, but I skimed enough to know that I am going to
**vote Dio/BSPI ** whatever.
No need to revote, despite the slippery name change.
The Diogenes stuff finally got to you?
This might just be semantic twaddle, but do you think there’s something to the fact that Pleonast said that NBC was of “the same Cabal” as Darth? In other words, could there be more than one Cabal, or is that just a way of putting it?
Nothing is certain, but I doubt it. In the “Sides” area of the rules, Pleo’s choice of verbage reads pretty clearly (imho) that there are 4 sides, one of which is “the Town”, “the Wolves”, “the Undead”, and “the Cabal”.
Further, the “each side has a secret power” thing would push things into Bastard Mod territory if what you posit is the case. Having more than one Cabal would either cut one Cabal faction off from the secret power, or it means that Pleo made a very big whoops in his Rules, with the collective Cabal having more than one secret power. I just don’t see either as likely.
Honestly, yeah. I mean, not in this thread, but in other spots on the Dope.
