Mafia: Evil Dead - DAY/NIGHT FIVE

As far as I know, yes.

As I said, I’m not sure whether I would have detected BlaM’s attacks. So there has to be the caveat that if someone has an attack that can get past my vigilance in some supernatural way, then they could have attacked NAF without my knowing. Which would be embarrassing to say the least.

Pede was outed as a power role by Night 1, and I did consider it,

In the end I decided not to protect Pedescribe, because if I had been a regular Doc Pede is who I would have protected, and I wanted to conserve shells for later Nights.

Why did you not continue to protect NAF, Mhaye?

The main reason is to do with who I changed to, and I think that’s better hidden for at least Tonight.

I didn’t want to switch from NAF; two names was a start, but three (or even four) would have been better. The fact that I changed anyway should you something about how important I think the person I actually guarded is to this game right now.

Sure, I understand that, but you must have some insight the rest of us do not, as I can’t for the life of me figure out who you thought would be more important.

Why did you not protect DiggitCamera?

A few more queries.

Why did you want to save your first power? Your second power was better than the first power. Wouldn’t you want to use the first one, so you could kill whoever attacked a townie later on?

Why did you protect Naf, an unknown, over confirmed townies?

Is your current protectee based on information you haven’t shared with us?

There were several reasons I went for NAF over Diggit.

I’m playing this guessing-game with the deadites, trying to work out who they might attack, while also maximising the chances of a block by spreading protections around. The obvious move for the deadites seemed to be to go for Diggit, but we’ve already seen that they are prepared to skate round the obvious choice and go for someone else. I hoped to catch them doing the same thing on Night 3. At the same time, I hoped that any other protective roles (and yes, I do think there is one) didn’t follow that line of thinking.

Secondly, I didn’t think Diggit’s Day 4 Dawn reveal would be stopped by a kill, and (to be honest) couldn’t see any immediate follow-ups Diggit could manage with the then dead pool. Remember, he’d published the questions beforehand, so the knock code was easily interpreted. Thus, there was less short-term risk than might at first sight appear. The long-term potential was greater, but it depended on losing Town power roles to death or lynch with unrevealed information first. So it looked more like a come-from-behind mechanism for the Town to me.

Thirdly, NAF’s obvious next investigation had the potential to confirm two players as Town, a slightly better short-term gain.

[oog]I just saw that our very own mod is off getting himself pitted. I wonder if there will be an update citing Hal’s death color…[/oog]

And what if the attacker were a Vig?

Frankly, I didn’t want to “burn off” the first protection for no reason; we might be grateful for it in a few Nights time.

I chose NAF because he was (if being truthful) revealing information, and was therefore a threat to the deadites. If he was lying, the downside was that I was protecting someone who wouldn’t be attacked, and someone else would be killed instead. In which case I had been well and truly suckered. (It’s happened once before).

If by confirmed Townies you meant Pedescribe, I passed him over because I didn’t think there was much risk of him getting killed that Night. Why should the scum choose a Mason when, at that time, they’re after more active power roles?

If you meant someone else, I can’t work out who at gone 1:20 in the morning.

The player I guarded last Night was chosen based on information in publically available posts in the Game threads, plus a deduction about the game structure based on those posts.

Not too likely a vig would attack a mason

In the span of a few lines you manage to discuss the possibility of a Vig and then suddenly come down with Vig amnesia. A potential downside of protecting an unconfirmed NAF would’ve been if a pro-town Vig had taken a shot at him, and you would’ve gotten in the way.

or one of the SKs for that matter…

I can’t believe I’ve been posting/lurking here since 2001, and my very first pitting is for making fun of the New York Jets.

I completly disagree. Does Vincent, the dog who knows things sound like a student either? Here’s the full text describing it (the original had a few words cut out so the scum wouldn’t know it was the treasurer providing)

We’ve already had one confirmed townie who’s not a student and would probably not have had to pay. We’ve also had two people lynched who not only probably didn’t pay, but they don’t make any sense being here. It makes much more since if they were the deadbeats, IMO.

Ah, but if a vig had killed NAF, he would have died without confirming cookies, FWIW.

Irrelevant. We’re talking about what options a protective town role had with the information that was publicly available when MHaye allegedly first decided to protect an unconfirmed NAF, and which of those options make more sense from a pro-town perspective.

If you were a pro-town vig, would you have killed NAF? I know I wouldn’t have.

EBWOP: …Would you have killed NAF Night 3?..

I’m beginning to think **Mhaye’s **claim is horse manure.

I’m afraid that’s irrelevant too, pede. We’re talking about the decision to protect Naf on Night 2, after he claimed on Day 2. And to answer your question, I was not particularly happy with him for claiming when he did and what he did, and if I had been the Vig I might very well have taken a shot at him.

The most annoying part of this is that MHaye is claiming to be in one of the few positions where it’s not necessarily anti-town to be in possession of a magic bag–the self-protector.

I haven’t a strong opinion either way about MHaye’s claim yet (still waiting to see if he spills his target), but I can’t believe there’s still a question as to who the deadbeats are/were. It’s pretty obvious, IMHO, that they were Freddy Krueger and the Predator. They don’t belong in this universe, they had their own little contest going on, and they were neither Town nor Deadite. Just saying.
