Mafia Reunion: Day Eight

End of Day.

**Cygnus is now dead. He was a Vanilla Townie.

Khameleon is also dead. He was a Mason.**

Night is now active and ends at 3 PM on Tuesday.

Farewell Cygnus and Khameleon.

We’re down to just 3 vanilla townies? It seems like scum should be getting easier to find.

Well crap. Sorry everyone for disappearing the last couple of days. I had things to do unexpectedly. I really suck for missing the vote.

To the last mason (I imagine it’s fairly obvious that I’m not he) - if Lakai is killed toNight, you will become vanilla town since nobody will be able to confirm you. You’ll also be painting a target on your forehead.

Food for thought if you aren’t already eating that meal.

I apologize for missing so much time as well. I was out of town, and I am back now.

I think the lack of a counter claim would be able to confirm the last mason. I don’t think anyone should start claiming unless they are in danger. Less confirmed town people means the two scum factions have a chance of taking out each other.

This looks like a very poor showing for the town. Nine lynches in eight days and only one scum lynched.

Yeah, that’s true. I’m not sure why my head didn’t go there.

We may as well use this time to talk about the mass claim. I don’t want to use all of our time toMorrow debating the issue instead of looking for scum.

As of right now, town is outnumbered, 9 to 10. Whether you think cultists are hostile or not, that’s still 10 players who will look at any townie mislynch, shrug, and say “well at least it’s not one of ours.”

It seems reasonable to assume that we’ll lose another townie tonight, so that’s going to drop us to 8 vs. 10 going into toMorrow.

It’s undeniable that a mass claim will give scum a tiny, tiny pool to hide in. If the rest of the cult claims along with us, it will be a pool of 10 - seven scum and three vanilla townies. It’ll be 11 and four if the patsy decides to claim vanilla (I’m not sure what the better play would be there). Even if the other two cultists don’t claim, it’s still a very small pool.

Here are what I consider the pros to a mass claim right now.

  1. We might actually lynch a scum. We have not been good at that.
  2. We will be more or less giving the scum teams all they need to figure out who their enemy scummers are. They’ll be looking at an even smaller pool than us. They still need to kill one another in order to secure a win.
  3. Our power roles aren’t particularly useful anymore except as ways to confirm town players. So we may as well. It’s not like we have to worry about keeping the vig or doc safe.
    Cons:
  4. The main con, obviously, is that it gives both scum teams a pre-made hit list. They’ll be able to kill townies at their mathematical leisure. We’ll have to hope that we lynch well enough to force them to continue killing one another rather than going at town.
  5. I still think cult is lying about their win condition and I’ll take that to my grave. A mass claim will shift us towards end-game scumhunting mode and it’s likely they’ll drop off our radar altogether. Some of you may not consider this a con.

Thoughts?

NETA: Forgot to add Lakai to the Mason thingy, but she’s obviously confirmed at this point.

Even if the LUTHA are being honest about their win con, and I don’t think that they are, they could easily switch their loyalty over to scum as our numbers dwindle. They allegedly need to survive; they don’t care about who wins.

We have 4? power roles left that are unclaimed. Those four can always claim if they get close to the rope. I don’t see the point in putting a target on their back for scum to aim at.

I’ve been making that point since day one (so to speak) but the majority of players have been acting like saying so is the mafia equivalent of kicking puppies.

So right now, the assumption is we’d have 10 people claiming vanilla (assuming my fellows claim). Of that 10, fully 7 of them will be scum. Random chance picking would give us better odds than our actual lynches this game.

ooOOooOO…good luck town…defeat all them wolves and mafia…

A mass claim would actually require everyone to show up and claim. That’s a pretty high bar for this game.

Not sure what to make of it but: Starting Day four it appears that Mafia are focussing their DK on claimed Town/LUTHA roles= they don’t appear to be too concerned a this time with the Wolves.

Wolves on the other foot seem to be killing random non claimed. ( perhaps in an attempt to hit Mafia.)

Should this be considered with a mass claim being discussed

19 living players
3 Wolves
4 Mafia
3 LUTHA --1 claimed

9 possible Town? --6 acounted for

Not really.

We only actually need four players to claim.

One mason.
The tinkerer.
The zoning inspector.
The patsy.

Everyone else will claim vanilla town, and anybody who doesn’t claim at all can be presumed to claim vanilla town. The cultists may or may not claim. I don’t expect them to be particularly helpful to town, but they’re welcome to prove me wrong.

Of course, it’s not like we can canvas just those four players to see if they’re up for a mass claim. One or more will have to decide tomorrow if they want to get the ball rolling. But it won’t take a huge group effort to make the mass claim work.

This was in response to Biotop.

but nothing to say to me?

It looks like the wolves are trying to hit mafia in order to get a lead over them, while mafia are happy with their lead over the wolves. A mass claim will make it easier for the wolves to hit mafia. Note that if the wolves do get a lead over mafia then mafia will have to start aiming at possible wolves.

LUTHA will need to claim as LUTHA. I do believe that there are 5 of them and they are non-hostile. They need to come forward and lay their cards on the table.
