I don’t think so. I don’t particularly care which scum team wins, so I think it’s in our best interest to look at this game, to start with, as having a 14 man scum team with two kills. As time goes on, especially if the Detective can out multiple scum at once, we might have the luxury of trying to pick on one faction over another based on who’s left. We might also be in the situation of having to leave known scum alive for a while in order to prevent the other faction from winning (possibly: I haven’t really thought enough about the wincons enough yet to determine if there is a chance where we might have to team up with one scumteam to beat the other)

So this made me think of what’s going on in the background, and why we wouldn’t be able to start yet. The only thing I can think of is setting up scum/3rd Party boards. I’m not very confident that I’ll get an answer to this, but I can’t see how it can hurt to ask if the Wolves and Mob are allowed to conspire before the game start.

Both of you are twerps, then. It’s a basic fact that every person in this game presents themselves as Town. You don’t need to claim vanilla town (unless you’re Idle, because tradition!) because it’s understood that everyone comes at this game from that viewpoint. Trying to suss out information isn’t some coy way of pretending to be a Townie, it’s the most pro-Town thing you can do. Information is what wins these games, and the Town starts with the least of it. So you and Thing can finger me all you want (yeah, yeah) but I’d like to know exactly what you’re trying to add to the conversation yourself.

It just seems that the question you asked the mods seemed to have a pretty obvious answer (assuming you’ve played more than I have). I know I have asked such mod questions as scum when I already knew the answer.

And I bring a masterclass on sleuthing to the conversation. Ok, not really. More likely comic relief and/or blithering idiocy depending on your POV.

I’ve definitely played games where Night Zero had no plotting allowed by scum. It can make a big deal, especially in games where there are experienced players mixed with newbies, and even moreso in games where players are familiar with each other.

Agreed on Toejam and Boozy. Septimus and Nanook seem to fit into that limbo state, and as for me, well, I asked three questions - one because the only reason I could see for Plum’s question was preparation for an eventual fake claim but wanted to hear his words, one because I thought Texcat could be claiming miller but really don’t know if patsy is always feminine or not, and one because there was a $5 bet.

I think the word was smudge, but there could have been another one.
6 is still not “almost everybody”, unless you have very short nights!

That’s why it’d be ideal to try to keep the numbers even, but I see no easy obvious way to know which scum group is which and killing them A,B,A,B, etc. So as a Townie, I’d say lynching the scummiest as much as possible, and if it’s all from one team, it’ll only make that team all the more desperate to want to root out the other scum group because they suddenly have just as much to lose when the town goes down.

Well, one question: is the actual town patsy MIA here? I get that scum will eventually want to eliminate confirmed town, but based on the suspicion of a false claiming scum from a different team, this is la la land, not wifom, wild speculation
