I didn’t get any answers to this question. I hope I can play effectively in this big a game, but it will be hard. Especially if duty calls me to spend much of the 2 hours defending my Townie self from a Lynch!

My plan is to focus on the 2 Lynch leaders much later in the Day and try to make an informed choice then. I did indicate where my current suspicions lie.

Let me counter with a question for Normal Phase and others. Who do you suspect to be Town? I almost never get a good Scum lead Day 1, but often have decided on a very likely Townie or two. This Game? I got nuttin’. All y’all seem Scummy to me!

Sach and jsgoddess. It’s hard to clear townies in this game with two wolf teams - earnest scumhunting isn’t enough. They’re the only two I’m halfway confident of right now.

Believe me, if I’d unvoted with no comment whatsoever there would even more interest in misLynching me.

Sorry for beating a dead horse, but “I would have been mislynched if I’d said nothing” is not actually a valid excuse for saying something you’re now claiming was not the real reason you unvoted.

And this confuses me. The comment I made when I Unvoted reflects exactly this strategy. I said that runaway bandwagons may reduce the information available to Town.

(Is my early vote on Colby a contradiction? No. (1) It was NOT yet a runaway bandwagon then; (2) My vote on Pleonast was a very weak early temporizing vote; (3) It was my duty to show my suspicion.)

I am presently suspicious of Lakai, Johnny Bravo, Colby11, and ToeJam. Later in the Day I will review the cases against whichever of those (or future suspects) is in Lynch contention and cast a final vote.

I rather skimmed over this until Normal commented on it…but taking another look it does sound lazy at best. If you are suspicious of a player, the pro-Town thing to do would be to voice your suspicions…not to wait to see how the voting goes, and only speak up if the player in question is in contention for a lynch. This sounds like a great strategy for Scum to be able to refer back later to say “see…I said I was suspicious of <Scum Player> A way back on Day 1!”, without actually risking putting that player in any real danger.

I’m always logged in. I think many others are. I think whether people are logged in or not, with or without posting is irrelevant, and yeah, a bit creepy.

I am pretty much always logged in as well. I have a tab open to this game on my work computer, and on my home computer. Some days, I’m in and out of the thread all day long. Other times, I might go an entire day or more without opening the tab.

If Colby flips (some kind of) scum his teammates would definitely be on the bandwagon.

This is a true statement, but it’s also completely meaningless. There are Scum on the **Colby **bandwagon; I’ll bet money on it. And that will be true no matter how Colby flips.

If you have suspicions of any of the individuals voting for Colby, share them; don’t just say “there be Scum…”

My bold. It says in the description of Investigative Journalist have to state whether they’re looking for Mafiosi or Wolf and receive a yes or no answer. Clemenza… When/if investigated by the Seer or the Homicide Detective, does the Patsy show up as Mafioso? I think maybe this is the case, which could be a point in favour of the Patsy not claiming. Or will the Investigative Journalist have to investigate twice to confirm against both scum factions? Werewolf mafioso?

Is the color here to be taken as gospel? Is that an inappropriate question to ask?

Did I miss something or was these questions raised during Night 0?

I’m not buying the train on Colby. Even if he was scum, he’d be technically incorrect referring to the “other team” because he’d still be playing against two other groups.

I don’t think he’s guilty of anything but bad wording.

Would you consider the third parties a team, or a group? And town?

I hate the “case” against Roosh because it’s fundamentally the same as the case against me, and I think it’s not only weak reasoning, but generally anti-Town behavior to start putting lynch pressure on people for asking questions, even if you think the answers are obvious. I tend to think that people joining in this vote are more likely to be bad players.

Same case? I though more people were voting for his defense, not his derpclear. Is it JAQ to ask the mods about access to scum boards? And “bad players”, really?

I would ask everyone to consider what DiggitCamara wrote up thread, that a defense of player with very little evidence is more suspicious than a vote for a player with very little evidence. There is little evidence for any vote and everyone has to vote for someone, but not everyone has to defend someone.

There are different kinds of defense, and I think “I’ve seen Bob do this as town” is a very useful piece of evidence if people are voting Bob for doing that. (The opposite case of “Bob only does this as scum” is equally useful.) It’s not so much defending Bob as saying the case against him is flawed and I expect it from people who know others better than I do. If I voted Meeko for being a bit eccentric, I would expect others to say “Hooker, that’s Meeko being Meeko.”

I do not understand Johnny Bravo at all. I don’t recall having difficulty with Johnny Bravo in the past, so I’m left very confused why he is behaving so irrationally. bufftabby’s vote, while I disagree with it, is perfectly clear and the reasons stated plainly.

… Though I should go back and verify what the situation was when septimus voted for Colby and whether or not his ‘bandwagons are bad’ defense makes sense. Put it on the to do list.

To save you the bother, I knew I was “about 3rd” on the Colby wagon and otherwise didn’t know the count. I considered not voting then for the same reason I later unvoted, but it seemed better to go on record and remove my very flimsy vote on Pleonast.

There are two ways I can play. Quiet and timid to avoid attention, or sincere and candid. I tend to be quiet and timid as Scum; I guess I should play that way as Town also.

I am not a good player, Town or Scum, but there’s no way I would have made that attention-grabbing unvote if I were Scum!

I am ALWAYS logged in to SDMB, except once a year or so when, in a fit of panic about malware I mangle all Chrome’s cookies.

I assume the indication others refer to is a focus event (presumably the same one that turns the disk-shaped activity icon next to the username green).

But I agree that monitoring these is somewhat creepy.

This probably comes down to playstyle - to me, this is more or less what FOS means. Somewhere between “oh my stars and garters” and “j’accuse!”

Since I’m now at the office (and thus sober), I think I’ve come to my senses about poke votes on the non participants this game, what with the mod murderkillingses.

About the Colby fiasco, I see why there is heat on him, but I’m not sure I’m convinced by it yet. I’ve known Colby to parse his posts a bit…differently than I would have chosen. It doesn’t make him scum necessarily, but it does make him seem scummy more often than he actually is.

Because I noticed a slight defense of another player in his post.

In your case the defense was rather a more generic reference to slips which, in your mind, seldom indicate whether someone is scum or not.

You of all people should know that I do not lurk unless I have a valid strategic reason to do so. And if my survival was critical to Town’s success, I would be up in arms. But Town can win, with or without me. That is the beauty of Town, is that there is more than 1 player on your team.

Now I’m probably biased but you’re going to roll over and die because hey, there are more townies out there, they don’t need me? When did the game stop being about finding scum?

The point I was making is that bufftabby confronted me about my FOS on Meeko (which is fine) and then, when I responded to his inquiries, voted me for making too big a deal.

It reminds me of how childhood arguments used to go with my mother when she got particularly angry.

Her: Why did you do it?

Me: I dunno.

Her: No, tell me why!

Me: Fine! Because blah blah blah.

Her: You always have a comeback! You always have an excuse!

And so on. I don’t mind being pressed for details on my motivations, but bufftabby pressed for details and then voted me for spending too much time on the topic.

No, of course not. That would make as little sense as casting suspicion on someone for posting in the wrong Day/Night thread.

I FOS’ed you for your extremely flimsy suspicion, and your response sealed the deal for me. Your particular FOS read as a typical scummy “let’s throw out some specious suspicion and see what sticks” move. If it sticks, whoever actually casts the first vote gets hit with the questions if a faulty bandwagon forms. If it doesn’t stick, there’s no real tie to you later on. There are other FOSes floating around, but yours struck me as being extraordinarily flimsy, even for Day One.

I think that was already pretty clearly where I was coming from, so trying to spin it that I’m voting you for “answering my question” is another example of what I’m seeing as some specious suspicions coming from you.
