I counted that vote now, but it was missed since I scan for bolded votes. Yes, I am skimming and I guess that makes me scum.
Seriously, though, do not count on votes being counted if they are not correctly formatted. I don’t, however, want anyone to be lynched because of simple errors.
Two people have made comments that have struck me as attempts not to be held responsible for their words because they hadn’t read the rules. The case against Colby has been done to death, and I do find his arsonist statement still weird.
But it’s AngeloftheNorth whose comments are really sticking with me. Not one but two claims not to have read the rules and roles and a defensive claim that scum wouldn’t do that, along with another in a set of meta comments about how she and others play the game.
Scum would do that. Scum would do anything. I think scum might be doing that. Vote AngeloftheNorth.
I agree. Just because I haven’t read them yet doesn’t mean I’m never going to. The week has gotten away from me and I didn’t want to go MIA. I can only access this board from my phone at work so it requires remembering when I’m at home and not having forty fires (including a tiny literal one, last night) to put out.
So I’m going to continue to post as I can and will read them at the first chance possible. I just really, really don’t like “you’re being anti-town” votes. I think it’s one of the easiest mainstream scum strategies.
For the record, “scum would do anything” is the worst town strategy possible in my book. It sounds good on paper but in practice it’s an excuse to make an easy vote.
Scum will do anything, under the right circumstances, which is to say when there is a need to do it. On Day One with 50+ people in the game there is absolutely no need for a scum me to call attention to myself by repeatedly saying I haven’t read the rules.
In purple. Because apparently we mods love accent colors.

DAY ONE VOTE COUNT
As a quick reminder - there are no powers, hidden or open, that can affect the vote count. If you see an apparent discrepancy, it’s the result of moderator error.
I don’t have time to do a post-by-post reply, so I’ll simply comment on some players, in no particular order.
colby11: I’ve voted for slips in the past, but I don’t see the scum motivation in their posts here. I can’t really complain about the votes here, though.
Johnny Bravo: the votes here do bother me. I can’t see any validity for these votes.
septimus: I was undecided about them until I noticed their vote on Bravo. I still have to decide if the other cases here are valid, but I’m happy to put my counted vote here for now.
Meeko: I don’t know what happened, but I’m getting a Townie vibe here. Probably means they’re not Town, but I have no case to make.
My votes again. unvote vote septimus for a lousy vote in D1.488. vote bufftabby for a lousy vote in D1.259. vote Normal Phase for daring us to vote for them in D1.27. vote Chronos for snuggling up to Meeko in D0.442. vote Scathach for scolding a player for being a “helpful townie” in D1.35.
Well, it’s allowing you to post without being on the hook for saying things that don’t fit. If someone asks you for substance, you just point to your lack of reading the rules/roles. It’s pretty good cover when you get called on it.
Pleonast, to be clear, your objection to me re: Meeko is that you don’t like me making allowances for a player playing according to their usual style, is that right? Because me doing that is also the only reason I’ve stopped harping on you about your anti-Town habit of always claiming Day 1.
Why do you need someone to ask you for substance? With this many people, everyone should be taking it upon themselves to provide substance. There’s too much to hand hold others.
Your post (D0.442) about Meeko feels like it’s primarily motivated to dissuade them from attacking you.
Also, I don’t really like players bringing up previous games. Grudges are bad, even if the “grudge” is not negative.
If you feel my actions are anti-Town, then so be it. Harp upon them, if you wish. I don’t think they are, obviously, and discussing different approaches to the game is fun.
I don’t need anyone to ask me for substance. She’s justifying her vote for me with “if someone asks you for substance you can use not reading the rules as justification for not providing it.”
I’m pointing out that I think her vote on me is BS because this is a purely hypothetical justification.
