Ah, got it. Clerical error.

In response to Beer Cephalopod, I’m going to break tags and just barge in::
Oh, lord, Meeko. I forgot what a wild ride it is to try to dissect your posts for context. Here’s my best attempt. Forgive me if I miss some things.
You missed my entire diatribe on Fnord!
That’s precisely what I was saying. I think.
>>>Ok. Good. Wasn’t too sure how “reinventing the wheel” you were here. Glad to see similar ideas.
They don’t have to. But they do have that luxury. And if someone is claiming that they are ignoring the context provided as they dive into a game, does it strike you as being scummier or townier?
>>> Ah, ok, the entire notion of employing this tactic with discretion… I didn’t fully appreciate that.
I don’t know what a magic bag claim is. I’m not making one. I was being dismissive of Angel’s unsubstantiated feeling that TotalLost was Town.
>>> Wasn’t trying to say you were… Again, I think your singing Twinkle Twinkle, and I’m singing Baa Baa Blacksheep… And we need to find a common alphabet song. [[[Not going to explain that one folks. You’ll be glad I didn’t, if you don’t get it yet, once you do.]]]
Let’s say the information is set aside. Until we have more information, there’s not much I can do with it.
>>> I fear this will be closer to trying to explain color to blind person. I’m not going to get there.
I don’t know what any of this means. I have an older sister, and no other siblings. Does that help you?
>>> I think a birth order analysis of all players might reveal… Something, but it’s impractical. To fix the idea, I’m just saying that in general, how we were brought up will in some small fashion influence our play. All of us.
No, I was not stating a suspicion of you. Your play came across to me as unusual and hurried, but I think I was more surprised by Lightfoot’s response telling you the various reasons to read the rules. You would know rules are important, and she knows that you know your way around a Mafia game. I don’t think you would post the way you were first posting if you were Scum (re the whole “not reading rules” fuss), but I could be wrong about that. I am not 40,000% sure.
Maybe it’s just me, but didn’t a similar Colby/TexCat thing happen in the Snow White game at Giraffe? I didn’t play, only read it afterwards…
Lazy vote, and a bit frightening to boot. I guess it could be read as tounge in cheek… Way to early to start fantasizing about a mob!
It popped out at me way back when – I was hoping for more from Lakai, but this next post is all:
So, because you have a job, and others have provided “evidence”, you don’t feel you need to justify your vote? You basically said “this is a good reason to form a wagon” one day into Day 1, without even justifying why that is a good idea.
Also, where does this “defense of a player”-thing come from? I haven’t seen anyone coming to the defense of Colby, just that they disagree with the case on him. Mostly for meta-reasons, he’s kinda known for saying strange things and getting lynched for it!
I see no sense continuing to poke the Prof.
Unvote Prof. Pepperwinkle
when I can vote someone more deserving of attention…

Vote Lakai**
On septimus: I’d really like to vote for him, but I can completely reconcile his play this game with townie septimus.
So are you going me because you think I’m scum, or because you think I’m anti-town?
Voting! Not going.
Okay, thanks, I was just clarifying.
I’m suspecting she missed the post (there was an earlier one somewhere, not just my response to Guiri) where I stated who I am.
I had nothing to do with it!
Because if I saw something that looked like a soft-claim. And if I saw it, others did as well.
I really don’t care if scum saw it or not - but in this particularly set-up I mind it very much if a Town power saw it and decide to use their powers on what might be a vanilla or a non-Townie.
Since he already had made sure to try and tell us, that he was Town - there really IMO didn’t seem to be much else he could claim - than having a power. So I asked.
As a little bonus-info I would like to point out that I really dislike soft claims. Either you claim or you don’t in my book.
He even added a nice little story about being mislynched just to make sure, that we all began to wonder if he indeen in this game too would be not just a mislynch but a power mislynch early in the game.
So yes - I did ask about it - because I really think that it’s weird to ignore a post like that and go “oh, no - guess nobody will notice if we keep quiet about it”.
I would so much call it “pushing for a claim” but rather asking about what to me already looked like a claim. I do think there is a difference there.
It’s one thing to ask a lunch-candidat: Do you want to claim?
And anohter to ask a player with a couple of votes about a soft claim - and it might not even be a soft claim. He might come back and say “no. you mis-read me completely”.
I apologize for all the typo in the post above. Hope some of you still can make some sense of it.
Wrote while talking to a co-worker at work. Sorry :o

Should have been

My apologies for going mostly silent. I’m getting swamped at work. I’m mostly keeping up with the thread but am not really having time to do much pondering. It will be better over the weekend.
I think anti-Town behaviors are votable in and of themselves, AND I find that people trying to justify anti-Town behavior are somewhat more often than not scummy.
Thank you for the clarification. Who else do you find problematic?
Post 545.
Is Colby’s very peculiar wording (not just the three words) a Scum tell? I can’t decide. *I have trouble thinking of a model where Scum (rather than Town) would use the wording. * A few Players have said they’ve seen similar wording in the past from Colby when he was Town.
A lot of the scum deduction toDay references how others have played as Town or Scum in the past. And, like it or not, that’s how it should be, especially on Day 1. My own brain isn’t capable of discerning these patterns, but I’ve thought a computer analysis might be able to differentiate Scummy and Town for a given Player. Indeed when I experimented with a corpus of PizzaGuy’s posts I found what seemed to be significantly different frequencies of words like “scummy.”
IIRC, Angel (and Normal Phase as well?) have mentioned that they know what their own tells are and are glad noone’s picked up on them. I’m sure there must be a sharp difference between my posts as Town and as Scum, because I know my emotional status is so different in the two cases, and I’ve never been a good liar.
All of which leads to these posts:
Should we pursue these? Ask BillMc for details? What was the similar kerfluffle in Snow White game? Or should we just unhitch the Colby wagon (even though that would make me Lynch leader  ).

So you asked and then re-asked for me to make a “soft claim” even though you find them bad. You wanted more ammunition for your case against me? Or, if I were a Town Power, you wanted to out me? FTR, since I know I’m the Townie Septimus, FOS on you and all the other Septimus voters!

I’ve just completed rereading Day 1, and want to revise my Scum guesses. I’m still slightly suspicious of Johnny and Colby, less so of ToeJam, and have a new top suspect.
Unvote Johnny Bravo
Vote Prof. Pepperwinkle
The charge? Too much fluff; too little content.
As for the snow white thing, I might be misremembering. But I definitely find Colby’s potential slip and after-reaction consistent with his play.
