I’m glad that you felt it necessary to reassure me of that.
I guess I wasn’t as clear as I thought. I meant specifically at very end game. There’s been games before where town literally had the last scum outted, admitted, and completely dead to rights, but couldn’t/wouldn’t lynch them because they were worried that a third party would/could steal the win. In this game, that is never a fear.
It’s not quite that simple as “if he lives a long time”, because we have Wizard who could choose to protect him. If the Wizard dies, that’s different. He’s also a day doc, if I’m remembering right, so to half the scum he’s no threat at all except insofar that after a long enough time a lack of counterclaim or EMT flip would confirm him.
The hot air was regarding his advice on not discussing what town roles should do, and then congratulating thing fish for discussing what town should do in the same post, and still not discussing anything about scum roles - which he promises to do. I like his faux-multivote approach, he’s thin on content but coming across quite naturally, as if life really is getting in the way.
Hey
I’ve been keeping this tally since D1 started because I find voting records of great significance, especially once we get to D3 or so. I didn’t comment on any of the votes because there is no context yet. IMHO, D1 is totally a guessing game unless something truly bizarre happens. Someone recently asked for such a tally, and, since I had it, I scanned the most recent posts to update it, and posted. Option 2, I really am just being a helpful townie.
Actually, I believe Hockey Monkey was referring to my subsequent unvote.
So:

[li]no, I hadn’t seen a Colby vote when I voted; it was simply a very strong slip in my mind. [/li][li]In my answer to Hockey Monkey’s question I said that the reason I changed my vote was because snfaulkner’s comment on the Colby vote was a very slight defense of Colby (unlike, for instance, Hockey Monkey’s who was commenting on the situation, not the person[/li][/ol]
Back when it was a Facebook meme, I selected Wakko Warner, Sheen Estevez, and Mr.Whiskers as the three fictional characters that I think represent me. Data from Star Trek, Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony, and Brian from Family guy (Minus the drinking) would probably round out the entirety of my existence.
Not sure if that helps, or hurts.
Thanks.
At the time I had no idea that Angel of the was our own Archangel. finding that out makes the act/statement in question all the more odd- to me
Ok, I’m still laid up with throatebola so again, don’t expect too much from me today. But here’s my take on a few current events.
FOS on Total Lost. I’m sure when Septimus made his vague semi-soft claim he wasn’t expecting the Spanish Inquisition (because who ever does? Nobody, that’s who). If I were in thst situation, I would have claimed too, because I was sick of reading about it. So yeah, I don’t blame him for full hard on claiming. I blame TL. I’m not changing my vote because TL is at least trying, which I can’t say about Lakai yet.
As for prof providing a vote count, being helpful is his MO as a human and is a null tell on scumliness. Tho I still do have a stankeye on him for the “trying to post less this game” (paraphrased) comment.
No I had not, as I explained at some point upthread. I see something that I think needs addressing and I do it right then. My mental notes have become like water down a drain in the last couple of years. I post, then go back to where I was and keep going (frequently having to go AFK to do something else.) I totally see how it comes across that I jumped on a bandwagon, but I had no idea if anyone else had seen that post, commented on it, or voted.
In other matters: It’s been a loooooooooong time since I played and though I remember almost everyone here, I don’t remember much about specific games, gambits, play-styles or roles. I am not and cannot put any relevance into how someone has played in this game vs a past game. I don’t really like using those biases as any kind of endorsement of someone else’s scum or town status.
I will be going out of town tomorrow and will be back on Tuesday. I will probably read along on the phone but posting is doubtful.
Since my current vote is on Normal Phase and is lonely, I’ll do my best to review the cases on the top contenders and see if I feel like changing it. First I have to houseclean and pack.
It’s somewhat moot now that septimus has fully claimed, but Total Lost was absolutely correct to question him. He said something that made it look an awful lot like he has a power role. Scum, having many pairs of eyes on the lookout, and who are specifically looking for clues to power roles, almost certainly spotted it. Any relevant protective role, who has only one pair of eyes, might or might not have spotted it. If nobody had said anything, the most likely result would have been a Scum-kill of septimus that went through successfully due to lack of protection.
Total Lost saw it, though, and asked about it. What are the possible consequences now? Well, if septimus follows up with an actual claim, then he’d be a priority target for Scum… but he probably already was that. So that’s no different. But with Total pointing it out, protectors would know to consider targeting him, and with the actual claim, the rest of Town can judge for themselves whether they believe it.
At least, that’s the case if septimus is being honest, but on the other hand, if he’s not being honest, then it’s also appropriate to grill him.
In short: septimus’ soft-claim (deliberately or not) put the game state into a relatively bad position for Town. Total’s question about it improved the game state.
On another note, since we’re talking about claims: We may have some non-hostile third parties out there. Speaking for myself, I’m a lot more likely to accept such if you claim, without pressure, on Day 1. If you wait to claim until you’re forced to, I’m likely to conclude that you thought you had something to hide. Now, I know that not everyone agrees with me on this, and there are at least some players who think that every non-Town should automatically be lynched on sight, but it’s something to consider.
Well that was unexpected. Why now? You weren’t in danger of being lynched and there are still almost 3 RL days to go till sundown. You don’t have to answer that, I’m just thinking out loud. I think it’s the color shock. And how in the world do you make music notes?
Given he already could self-protect half of the time, and given the protector killer roles we have, I don’t see the advantage.
I completely disagree that a hard claim is better under these circumstances than a soft claim would have been.
Except that, at the time that Total was hounding him, she didn’t know that he could self-protect.
And if you think the hard claim is worse, then explain how. What advantage does it give the Scum that they didn’t already have?
Ok sorry guys I’m having huge trouble keeping up with this game because work is a nighmare right now. I’ve been reading along when I get time but I haven’t been able to sit down and think.
Right now i’m going to
vote texcat
Just because she pointed out colby’s “scum slip”. But tbh that post was classic colby and she’s played with him often enough to know that.
Ditto the septimus stuff, septimus is one of the players who when confronted with a reasonable argument against his vote will change it, then he gets piled on for switiching.
I’m far more suspicious of players who double down on a shitty d1 vote because that screams to me of scum who have found a “safe” place to put a vote down and want to stay there. Everyone who is still on the colby wagon is suspicious to me because of that - it’s just placing an easy vote.
I haven’t checked, but we haven’t heard much from Colby. This bothers me almost as much as his original odd wording. You could get a 2-for-1 vote here: lurker + scum slip.
Ha! I didn’t see this until I just doubled down on it. But I would have doubled down on it anyway, because I still think it’s the most likely vote to catch scum. And I don’t think it’s a shitty D1 vote. I think it’s an excellent D1 vote. It’s a vote for scum, rather than the votes on Angel which are votes mostly for being just anti-town, or the votes on lurkers who are just hoping they get lucky and that the reason for the lurking is scummy instead of just busy.
