[oog] Does anyone know how SilverJan is doing [/oog]
If it helps any, jsgoddess, I see what you are saying/asking. not sure how too rephrase it so Scat gets the question though
sigh
You can’t escape the paranoia of this town. Out of curiosity, what was it about my response time that was suspicious?
EVERYTHING. And you breathe weird. And I’m pretty sure you type like scum types. twitch
Well explain it to me. From my point of view I am voting Texcat because she jumped all over a completely textbook colby thing to do.
My other point was about people who were happy to jump on a wagon and stay there.
Is it weird that you sound just like my girlfriend?
This is the second or third time I’ve seen reference to a post seeming “rehearsed”. How would that work, exactly? This is a text medium, isn’t everything going to be “rehearsed” to some degree? I review my posts for typos, to make sure they make sense, to make sure I’m not too much of a jackass etc. Really, it behooves any player to review their words before posting, and consider how those words will look to others. I would much prefer Town to “rehearse” their posts to some degree, so as not to seem inadvertently scummy. “This behavior can’t seem scummy because I’m not scum” is how Townies get mislynched. I really don’t understand this idea of a post seeming “rehearsed.”
Scathach, you have to admit that my reasons for voting Colby are better than breathing weird. ** Waits for someone to say that’s just how Lakai breathes. **
I think I may just end up coiling up for an explosion on day 3-4. I tried putting this game into the vote-order-predict-o-matic spreadsheet that’s usually given me some great results in past games, and it’s still a pile of nonsense. =P
In keeping with some others, I am unexpectedly going out of town this weekend after work tomorrow. I’m comfortable with my vote, and I’m going to try to keep up with reading the thread, but posting volume will likely diminish.
Sorry. First for coloring and adding musical notes to my claim; more importantly for being forced to claim. It’s a duty of a Town Power to avoid becoming one of the Lynch leaders, and I certainly failed. For this and other reasons when I click on my role PM, I always hope it says Vanilla Town. No. This time it says I am the Town EMT.
And it was increasingly likely that I’d need to claim. Discussing me had become a distraction, both for me and for Town in general. If not Lynched toDay, I’d be the default Lynchee on Day 2. There was little sign that my comments had reduced suspicion. Several of the voters seemed in for the long haul; some of the non-voters had an FOS on me. Questions were being directed at me repeatedly; my answers provoked more accusation and more questions; my attention was drifting away from Scum-hunting (and Town-hunting — “Dammit Jim, I’m a Doctor not a Detective!”). I decided to get it over with.
And I would need to claim or stay awake until 3AM, less than 2 days from now (not 3 days as someone just wrote). As long as I was suspected — and suspicions were increasing, not decreasing — I could easily be Lynched in a few minutes at EOD, for example if Colby claimed Town Power.
Yes, I was free NOT to Claim — you’d have ended end up with a Town Power dead. Would all y’all have preferred that? I thought of “soft claiming” (“I am a Town Power. Do you really want to know which one?”). I do NOT think that would have had an effect. @ Total — would you have happily Unvoted me after a soft claim like that? Even with the hard claim, Unvotes have not really flurried in rapidly.
And note that Wolves (the Night-time killers) may decide that a Day-time protector is more help than hindrance to them. They’d be more likely to Kill me if my Power were certain but undisclosed. Mafia won’t try to Kill me either: obviously I’ll be self-protecting now.
As for “didn’t septimus claim around the same time End of Day would be”, (1) A lot can happen between 2:08 AM and 3AM, or (2) are we now going to question whether EOD comes at 3AM my time? Discussing my personal life would be a digression; let’s just say that I’d prefer not to feel obliged to keep awake and tuned into SDMB until 3AM for worry about misLynch.
Answering Total again, I was not worried about Scum Killing me because of Scum hints — as I said previously, I’m too easily misLynched for Scum to bother with unless my Power role is certain.
Wrong. Read my previous paragraph. But I take full blame for the “premature” claim. I should have posted little and thought like a Scum (“What vote should I make to avoid accusations against me?”) rather than posting and voting sincerely like a Vanilla Townie.
Sure, if you will admit that I never even implied anything remotely like that.
Hey! Pleonast!
In this post 192, I suspected you of trying to address your comments to your Scum teammates rather than to Town.
Your rebuttal, part of a long omnibus post 241, completely misses the point:
In the next paragraph of the same post, you snuggle me for doing some analysis on the protector roles.
I call you out on the evasion in post 253:
Since then, you have posted five times, giving your reads on or interacting with ten other players. Two of those posts referred back to your snuggle of me. And yet, you still haven’t responded to this post.
vote Pleonast
That’s an interesting point: If you’re self-protecting, the Mafia wants to kill you (because you can block their kills) but can’t, and the Wolves can kill you (via the Outrider) but might not want to (because you can’t block their kills anyway).
And you making that point actually causes me to lean Townie on you. Because that sort of detailed thinking about one specific role is what I’d expect from the person who actually has that role.
unvote septimus
I’ll reinstate my original vote
vote Toejam
This vote was originally for the derpclear in Night 0, but his subsequent posts are even worse - see #568 for an analysis by HookerChemical.
Sorry again. I seem irritated in my last post. I should have toned it down after preview but, just as with the Role Claim 9 hours ago, I clicked Post just to “get it over with.”

I like the Giraffe Board vote-counter which shows unvotes. I even have a copy of that perl-script which I’ve hacked up to allow multiple voting, to recognize some of the blue Vote combinations the original script was missing, and to fold aliases together (“ToeJam” = “Toe Jam” = “Toejam”).
Lack of the “perpage=50000” option, which Giraffe pointed out, is only a minor nuisance — you can read all the pages and concatenate them together.
I tried running that script on this thread. One problem is that the original script insists that Voters be bolded and many here are not. A more mysterious problem is that some votee names disappear. My knowledge of perl is zero (except for hacking that script) and it’s hard for me to test an on-line version. In the absence of other volunteers I may post vote summaries developed off-line.
As has been pointed out, the hitman/outrider will take out all protectors on a target, including the target himself if he’s self-protecting.
The WIFOM does come in, though, in that each faction’s kill happens in the opposite half-cycle of their powers. Which means the scum power being used has to occur simultaneously with the opposite faction’s kill. And the killing faction may have a different idea of who they want to target. So it’s really up to the protective roles to use their best judgement on this.
I think the issue people have is that you are saying you find other people on the Colby wagon more suspicious, yet you are still voting Texcat. This makes no sense.
vote scathach
This is mostly a prod vote to get you to explain what you mean. And to stop ducking the questions from others that are trying to get you to explain. It’s a weak vote because I can’t see any motivation for you to do this whether it be scum, town, or 3rd party. But I really want to understand your logic here.
This will need a larger than usual crowd of confirmed town, as scum get 2 kills per cycle rather than just 1. So multilynching will be essential.
In regard to multilynching, I am a bit concerned about the third lynch, as this will only need a small number of votes. For example, when we are down to 20 players, the third lynch will need just 2 votes. If the votes finish as 7-7-2-1-1-1-1 then that third lynch could have easily been any of 5 different people.
doing well may be in next game
