there was a fair length of time and a few votes between your first 2 posts posts and your response to comments/votes
right, but you said that the double up voters were more suspicious. you said Texcat was not one of them. you still are voting Texcat.
is that any clearer?
‘rehearsed’ might not be the best word for clarity.
I mean the answer was discussed/ practiced off board prior to being posted here
I, of course, would like to invite everyone to come on board the spacious and comfortable Pleonast bandwagon, with gourmet coffee and free wi-fi.
Having said that, thoughts on the vote leaders and other dubious characters:
I am really fine with lynching **Colby **today. I think there is a small but not insignificant chance that the Slip might actually have been a slip, and I think it’s a decent Day One lynch.
I would like to reread if I had time, but the case against Toejam also seems decent.
I think the case against Angel is bogus. There is no good reason for her to draw attention to herself as Scum, and for her to point that out isn’t remotely scummy. I am the first to say that Town must be eternally vigilant and never underestimate the awesome power of a scummy Angel, but this wagon is lame and I fart in the general direction of all of you on it, particularly Boozahol, whose interactions with** Angel** were notably scummy.
I am kind of torn about Lakai. Several people voted him (?) for jumping on the Colby bandwagon, and I can see the argument that his vote seemed like the laziest one on the wagon. Then in defending himself, he cited Diggit’s horribly anti-town opinion that defending another player is scummy. It is notable to me that three of the people on his wagon are lurkers (though I am sure we wouldn’t be able to shut snfaulkner up if he weren’t sick…get better soon!), and the fourth is Plumpudding, who has been called out for fluffposting.
**
Drain Bead**, don’t you think it’s getting a bit late in the Day to keep your vote parked on Meeko?
** Thing Fish ** please remove me from your lurker pile.
I didn’t write a paragraph about it because it is my business, but I have been in intensive care with my hubby for 3.5 days now.-(n* 13 hour surgery yesterday*) He is out of the woods, for now. but we will be here for some time yet.
- I am thinking about this game when I can and posting when I can.
man, these chairs are so comfy to sleep in. And the food - well you know.
Very sorry to hear about your husband,** Lightfoot.** Best wishes for his speedy recovery, and for you to get some sleep.
I didn’t mean to call you a lurker, which you certainly are not; I composed that post looking at the last official votecount and missed that you had since voted for Lakai as well.
one post wonders
they posted once, wonder where they went?
Red Skeezix includes a vote for lakai, for their vote.
Koldanar misunderstands roles
precambrianmolluscAgggggggg better start reading
Inner Stickler on vacation-vote Lakai, for their vote
2 were here long enough to form an opinion for a vote - but only posted the once.
1 read the rules just enough to misinterpret them
and PCM appears to have been overwhelmed by the volume of posts and ran screaming.
I’ll get the question out of the way first. What the bunny-love is oog?
What I have been noticing as well is the reasons that people give for moving have been bizarre - only scum would jump on a slip (what?), only scum argue for the person who slipped (slightly more plausible, but also stretches credulity), and a very detailed analysis of the posting history of one particular poster. We don’t really have a lot of good information yet (we have hundreds and hundreds of posts, but not enough feedback yet to know what is good data). This correlates to why many peoples are not moving off of their Colby votes, even if many Day 0’s would see more movement. We have a lot of players, rapid data expansion and a relatively solid reason to vote for Colby. I’m not surprised to see people staying put. I think the moves we see tell us more about the people making the moves, generally speaking, than they do about the vote recipients.
OOG = out of game
NETA ( the point of the post-damnit cut/paste)
on it’s face Red and Inner could very well be on the same Scum team.
hit and run voting with about the same ‘reasoning’
with a game this size it would be easy to be overlooked/ forgotton to stay under the radar.while ’ just barely avoiding the Mod KIll
we have a couple of players that have not posted in game- Do you remember their names off the top?
I don’t - which means I would likely not think to vote them until much later in the game.
I bring this up so others will watch for this type of ploy ( and therefore not fall for it)
Can we make Day 2 votes yet?
I think we must weigh Night 1 Results, that is, Day 2 reveal(s) against Skeezix and Stickler’s vote. The Ping is strong with these two.
And I will likely be away until Saturday night US time. Be good, everyone.
I’m going to assume that my comments on Colby are party to your question.
I think the key point missing, is that, … at least as far as I use the term, the rehearsal is in front of other Scum, or Third Party.
Creating fake role PM’s to pass in the main thread does happen, has happened, and is often collaborative effort. By nature of the collaboration starting and progressing… A form of rehearsal must be present.
As far as town rehearsing, … There is ever so slightly a ping here for me, but I’m passing on it.
I think, at a point in time, you have to go with ideas you can actually write down, put words onto, and not what you could post in an hour. Then again, I’ve had posts that took me an hour to write before. I’ve had posts, in previous games tie my own brand of logic up in so many knots, untieable, that I ultimately discard the entire post, and do not post anything for that moment in time. I have a history of posting commentary on how hard playing the game is for me at those times. … Would be a generous take on those posts.
Have you conflated Plumpudding with Prof. Periwinkle ? (With two double P’s causing confusion, maybe we should Lynch one of them! )
Otherwise I agree that the cases are mostly very weak. I’ll look into Pleonast.
I am so sorry. Really didn’t mean any offense. It’s had been a while and I forgot that you are both. But this way the sound of my mother’s voice when reading your posts will be more natural to me
There is no Prof. Periwinkle. There’s only Prof. Pepperwinkle. Please make a note of it.
I don’t quite follow you.
I assume you are talking about the players that are unvoting ** Colby ** * at least I think that is what you are referring to *
reason for moving
1" only scum would jump on a slip " do you mean they are unvoting Colby because they did what only Scum would do and calling themselves on it?
2" only scum argue for the person who slipped " do you mean they are unvoting Colby to vote for someone who disagreed with the reasoning used to vote Colby?
3"and a very detailed analysis of the posting history of one particular poster" are you referring to a player that did a posting history of a player and found them scummier than Colby so changed their vote?
" even if many Day 0’s would see more movement" do you mean Day 1 here?
" a relatively solid reason to vote for Colby. " can you elaborate your definition of this?
and finally "I think the moves we see tell us more about the people making the moves, generally speaking, than they do about the vote recipients"
You can think about voting like finding pretty rocks on a beach, but you can only keep one.
some players pick up the first one they see and then continue to exchange the one in hand for a prettier one when they see it.
And some look until they find the right one ( to them) and stop there.
it may /may not have anything to do with their alignment.( since both Town and Scum may play either way )
If my comments do not reflect your intent, feel free to explain it to me.
I’d still very much like to know - even now - if you in fact did soft claim or if I misread you. I know it might not mean anything to the game - but it does now mean something to me.
No. I don’t believe I would. But I am still uncertain if you did or didn’t soft claim.
Can I just point to yet another one of NAF’s theories on the game that I like. We very often see power-roles playing safe and therefore looking scummy in order to protect their role and in an attempt to stay away for the risk of a lynch. So it’s a sort of damned if you do damned if you don’t.
I would like to - once more - say that I never asked for you to claim. I merely asked if what you wrote was a soft claim. And I’d do that again anytime. Asking if a thing is to be read one way or another is to me a natural part of this game.
This seems overblown. The game is about paranoia.
I’m sure there’s other examples, I just did a quick check: HoH3 - Day 1, HoH3 Night 1 (Colby is playing as Naruto), Lords and Ladies Day 1, Lords and Ladies Night 1…
I’m not sure how comfortable I am posting this, but here you go.
I hope we get to hear more from Colby…
@ and on Total Lost: I don’t find your insistence on getting an answer from septimus all that scummy. It looks more like confusion than malice to me. I do find it weird you apparently can’t see what we tried to explain over and over again… Well, no point continuing down that road.
After looking at Thing Fish’s vote, and Guiri’s elaboration on his “hot air” comment, I looked a bit closer at Pleonast.
I can deninitely see scum argue hard against improbable scum tactics.
I find this snippet funny, coming from someone who usually claims Day 1…
@Pleonast: Explain to me why the Patsy can’t advocate claiming Day 1 publicly?
I like Thing Fish’s case, Pleonast looks like he’s evading answering Thing Fish directly. I also find Thing Fish’s offer of coffee and free wifi alluring…
Quoted to highlight what I find is a good summary.
On septimus: I agree with Chronos, in that septimus’ elaboration of his claim makes me more inclined to believe it. It’s clear to me he’s thought through the implications of his claim. I have also no problem reconciling this with how I’ve seen septimus play before, and I vividly remember that earlier game he’s referring to.
Okay…
@Lakai: Your vote was extremely lazy, easy and implicated that you’d like a wagon to form, around a day into Day 1. Your defense of your vote was nonsensical, read to me like “I have a life unlike you suckers, I don’t need to back up my vote with reasoning.”
@septimus: I’ve also been called out for fluff posting. I think Prof. has been called out for “being helpful” and “trying to look busy while doing nothing” more than fluff. He’s also outright stated that he won’t post much because of fluff.
