How are those opinions coming along?

What can I say, that’s just how much fun Universal Studios in Orlando is.
Let’s see if we can clear that up, then…
If the EMT protects himself, and is targeted by the Outrider that same Day, will the EMT be killed (as a ‘protected’ target of the Outrider), or will he be protected (as the subject of the EMT’s protection from Day Kills)?
I think, based on the specific wording involved, that a self-protecting EMT will still die to the Outrider. Let’s compare the wording on said Outrider to a killing role, AU Batman.
Outrider
“Each Day you may target any player of your choosing. If that player is under the protection of any active protecting role(s) - the EMT or Doctor Seward, for example - the player(s) doing the protecting will die. Your target will still survive any attempt on his life unless the protection is obviated in some other way.”
AU Batman
“You are a vigilante. Each night you kill someone. That’s it. Pick someone you think is anti town and kill them. You have the power and the training, oh and you have the drive too. You don’t get to not kill someone, and you aren’t suicidal so you can’t kill yourself. Make Daddy proud.”
Do you see the difference? AU Batman kills, but the Outrider doesn’t, their target just dies. That would say to me that being protected from kills doesn’t stop you from dying.
Of course, that could just be me applying Magic the Gathering wording rules to something unrelated. But it’s logical at least!
I’d like to know the answer to this too, but I think my theory that it was a joint kill by the Outrider and Trickster is the most likely scenario. They’re both on the same team and so can easily work together to bypass the EMT.
One last tidbit before Day 2 begins assuming I bite it and can no longer contribute:
I would HIGHLY encourage us to start looking at the group of Lakai voters (or even former Lakai voters). I created a breakdown for most of them on post #1195.
The entire thing started with what was basically a joke about pitchforks. Given that Lakai was Town, we now know he meant nothing of it. And yet, that single comment snowballed into him becoming the lynch leader. I guarantee there are non-Town on that list who jumped at a chance to lynch an easy target for a very silly reason.
I don’t see how that would work. The Outrider kills(causes to die) only if the target is protected. The Trickster would block the protection, meaning the target isn’t protected, which would stop the Outrider’s ability.

The EMT as the target of the EMT would be protected from any role that was trying to kill said target. The EMT as the protector of the EMT would be killed as the protector if the player was targeted by the Outrider. Because, you see, the Outrider kills protectors, not targets.
so if septimus self protected, it was the outrider. If he didn’t…it was maybe a couple of other options, including the factional kill or a 3P. Right?
after reading the responses from Lakai later in the Day- you don’t see how at least some of the voters felt justified?

It is possible that there is a 3rd Party role that bypasses the EMT’s protection, so it could have been a 3rd Party kill even if he did self-protect.
We’ll all go insane if we spend too much time talking about all of the possible 3rd Party roles…so I don’t want to spend too much time going down that rabbit hole…suffice to say that nothing is set in stone here…
