Huh? Same question to you as to Paul. How does it benefit us to have yet another modkill of (assuming he’s telling the truth) vanilla town?

Mislynches of active players still give us data. Lynching Idle is a waste since he hasn’t really contributed.
My inclination is to kill him right now, but that’s not a move I am going to make unilaterally.
Y’all are going to have to wait until Mahaloth and Story have had time to weigh in.
This should read "Lynching a “vanilla town” Idle is a waste.
If he’s scum as people are suggesting, then lynching him would be great. But since he only came back to ask to be modkilled, I would like to see that happen.
He hasn’t contributed but there have been lots of arguments for and against him. There will be data based on who took a stand.
I don’t know if everyone missed this, I think I’m the only person who commented, but we’ve already had a modkill of a vanilla town toDay?

You know what? I change my mind. I don’t want to be modkilled, just to piss you off.
I think I’ll start playing.
Look at it from a different perspective.
If we had two lynches today, would you be opposed to Idle Thoughts being the second lynch? If the answer is “no,” then consider the modkill to be equivalent the second lynch.
Based on the statement he’s made, he must die. And based on the fact that he made that statement, we cannot trust that he will allow the mods to modkill him. As such, we are forced to lynch him, cuz the scum teams sure as hell aren’t going to touch him and it seems fairly likely that Batman can’t handle him. We have been forced into the informational equivalent of no lynch by his actions. A modkill would have at least let us use the lynch on someone else, netting at least information if not an outright scum.

I still like this vote. I don’t know why more people aren’t following. But we don’t have a lot of options with Idle.
vote Idle Thoughts
I can’t believe you’d actually try to take the unfair, easy way out, Oh yeah, modkill him. Because if he’s scum…then hey! Free modkill of a scum! Woohoo!
And if he’s not scum, then it saves us from a mislynch of a town player. Woohoo for free/second chances!
Yeah, that’s the crap way. Since when do players ask for backhanded cheating ways like that? Sorry, no modkill for me any more. You’re just gonna have to MISLYNCH me and like it.
Course, you’re free to NOT vote for me too, if you’re THAT unsure that I really may be telling the truth. Heaven forbid THAT ever cross your mind, Johnny Bravo!
And of course in the process of me posting all that, things blew up. Bleh.
I am now convinced that he’s just straight up scum fucking with people. I am no longer unhappy with my vote, though from a metagame perspective I feel bad for whoever is on the same team as him.
That’s not how the game is played, though. I only offered it up as “choose any of the available options”. But now that I see people are actually wanting to take the easy way out, I changed my mind.
How the game is played is this: You lynch who you think is REALLY scum and if you happen to be wrong and mislynch a townsperson. OOPS! OH well! Try again next time! No free passes to remove a highly suspicious member so you can take a free turn.
Idle Thoughts, pulling our chains and playing out of anger at Town, it seems.

Thanks for the reference. Like most people, I’m completely underwater trying to keep up with everything.
sachetorte did breadcrumb prior to Crys75’s posting of her role PM. While the Martin LUTHA King thing seems a weird stretch, it was also a bit of a weird thing to say. His other crumbing was enough to convince me that he had a role roughly similar to what Crys75 posted. I think if he’s nefarious in some manner, so is she.
No, I wouldn’t. But I might object to him being the third lynch. (We already had a VT modkill.)

Well, allow me to clue you in to how things are: Town is my team…and the only reason people started voting for me today is “A durrr…Idle Thoughts has been non active!”
It couldn’t actually be because, you know, I’M BUSY. No, it must mean it’s because I’m scum.
Extremely stupid and weak reasoning. Many people even admit that their vote on me is based on metagaming. Well, you’ll soon see how THAT turns out for ya.
Wow, unbelievable. **You’re **the one who hasn’t been playing.
Let’s be very clear. If you are in fact town, as you claim, then you’re hurting us badly right now by not accepting the modkill that you asked for. You could have just continued lurking and let nature take its course on your modkill. We all would have moved on.
If you’re scum, I’m perfectly happy spending the lynch on you. I think I suggested upthread that a scummy but dissatisfied Idle might pop in to post - just to avoid the modkill. It sure seems like you didn’t expect the mods to actually consider modkilling you since by posting you technically bypassed the lurker rule.
So we’ll see. I really do hope you’re scum, because if it turns out you’re legitimately trolling your own team, I’m going to be super disappointed in you.

Feelings? Okay, I know you play like this. Not much I can do with just a feeling though, since I’m not sure I share it.
Btw: I don’t think it is sincere, at least not all of it. I’d like Prof. to comment on this too. I remember when you (Prof.) posted the result of your LtL research, and per my memory, you basically said LtL as a strategy was about as effective as guessing at random and that you were dropping it as a strategy. So why bring it up again? It makes no sense that LtL is more effective here than on Giraffe, why would a different board make it more viable? And why would you believe bringing it up here along with absolutely nothing else wouldn’t net you votes? I know you’re fond of it, it’s your pet-theory, your meta blabla, but come on, I’m sure you can see how it’s not particularly satisfying, especially as a main course with no sauce, sides or garnish.
How the game is played is that everybody plays.
Life happens, yes, and nobody blames you for being busy. But if you’re not playing, you should be removed without us having to spend a lynch on you.
What anger? This is me normally in games. You’ve played in two games with me as a player so far (I’m not counting the one I modded). BOTH times I was Town (you don’t know I am in this game yet, but you soon will, so I’m counting it already)…well, this is how every game is with me. It’s not anger at all.
However when people vote for foolish reasons like “Oh, he’s been inactive, so he must be scum”, that makes me want to say something, if only at how bad that logic is and to use it when playing mafia. It’s like I said in this post:
Ahem, now to this…
I shouldn’t have to accept a modkill. If you’re so sure I’m scum, THEN LYNCH me. If you think I’m town, however, and you’re still lynching me, then that’s YOU being foolish, not me.
Idle Thoughts, I think EVERYONE understands the case against you at this point. We get your defense. Move on and play if that’s what you are going to do.
