Mafia Reunion - NIGHT ZERO

Ah.
Well it’s always the case that a player could refuse to read a role pm beyond what faction/role he/she has. I thought you were saying that the setup could prevent scum from knowing who each other are.

not all ‘scum’

all mafia have an off board and all wolves have an off board

( the way I read it)

Yes. But bad for us and helpful to Scum. It’s much harder to kill off 14 third parties than 14 Scum.

Holy smokes…200+ posts on night 0, going to be a challenging game to keep up with the volume of posts. Heck, even the google doc is a good read in its own right and its only the town and scum roles.

Well I see Pleo already claimed nilla town, I guess we are just awaiting Idle to claim in a suitably large font.

The literary style of the roles makes it relatively challenge for scum or a 3rd party to fabricate a role, but given the open set up, scum can easily claim a town role, and we’ve no idea what role or cover information 3rd parties may have been provided with.

The Patsy is interesting "Well, you investigate as Scum if either the Seer or Homicide Detective target you (the Investigative Journalist will always receive accurate results regarding you). However, if you are lynched (but NOT if you are killed by Day or Night), you may make one reciprocal kill at your own discretion. " but ultimately they are only confirmed town if lynched or the journalist sticks their neck out. Tho I’d have to laugh if idle is the patsy.

BillMC, I’m not sure you fully grasp the implications of an open setup. Yes, Scum could claim any role on that list (including Patsy), but if they do, the real one can counterclaim, and then we’d know for certain that one of them is lying.

Nonsense. Announcing that I was going to vote for hawkeyepoop up above was clearly a FOS equivalent.

Holy smokes is right…
I’m not going to vote to lynch the lurker. I’m going to vote to lynch the fluffer. Too much to keep up with, even without any fluff.

At least one player I know has claimed to, at least once, learn they were scum, ignore the scum board and who their teammates are and played Day 1 as if they were vanilla townie. The justification is that if they do bus a scum, it will read more naturally than if they knew they were bussing and if they do bus a scum, they get lots of townie cred. It’s not for me, but few things are.

Give yourself some credit there, gumshoe. We’re going to need more than just the “smarties” to solve this case!

Agreed. No-lynch will not be pro-town. Town is moderately powerful, but not so much that I’d entertain a no-lynch.

This seems reasonable to me.

It’s nice to know that even in these divisive times, there are still some things that we can rely on.

I’m sorry, the only thing we could be doing is setting up boards? How incompetent do you think we are. Setting up boards takes like 5 seconds.

Holy crap. My poor brainz are already fried. Sunny Daze, you picked a doozy of a game for your first. I admire your guts.

To not crud up the page with quotes, I’ll just hit the big issues and my brief thoughts on them.

No lynch: I don’t see a good reason to do this this game. At least not yet. And it hurts my brainz to think about late game scenarios this early.

Multi-Lynch: I am 100% FOR multi lynching as much as possible. For those unsure about it, go check out Mahaloth’s Hotel-of-Heros 3 over on Giraffeboard to get idea on how it works, and how we got it to work to our advantage (even if it was surprising).

Concentrating on one scum faction over the other: I don’t see how we even could at this point yet. But if we smell a scum of any kind, there is no reason to not lynch them. Late game scenarios might require some weirdness, but again, brainzpainz.

Not talking until Day1: That’s just rubbish. Blab away!

Whiskey while curled up in the corner, surrounded by the corpses of your fallen brethren: Yes please.

NETA: Patsy claiming D1: I see good reasons FOR this to happen in this game, but I admit I’m not experienced enough to demand it from them.

This made me :dubious: too. I second your FOS on Squid.

HOH3 on Giraffe

Check out Day2/Night2 for multilynch fun.

Well, hell. I am in trouble then!

I have been called out in the last few games as being too fluffy. Must put on my serious face for this game!

This makes no sense. Scum would not be put into an awkward position. There is no reason for them to do a one for one exchange on day one.

Yes, this is vastly more likely. Why did you even bring up your previous scenario?

This makes little sense as well. Why would scum bother to kill the Patsy early on? The Patsy is basically vanilla. Scum have a huge pond with losto bigger fish right in front of them. Why would a doc protect a vanilla player on day one when they can protect a known power role?

If the claimed patsy does not turn up dead or is not counter-claimed by end game what exactly do you think is going to turn up?

Really? And now you’ve circled back to your crazy original scenario of a scum claiming Patsy on day one with the added feature that the original Patsy is still alive and hasn’t counter-claimed.

All in all this is a seriously weird post with outlandish scenarios. I really don’t know what to make of it.

Well, I expect to either learn quickly whilst shielded by the sheer numbers involved or die early and retire to assist with copy editing.

And this. Very much this.

I don’t like plans that involve trying to keep people quiet. We need to talk.
