Just to let you all know, I came to the realization that I will not be able to end the Day promptly at 9:30 tonight, as I will be in Karazhan and, if not there, at the gym. Therefore, since we’re probably going to be artificially inflating the Night anyway, two options are that I can pre-draft the Dusk and post it a little early (say between 7:30-8:00), but I’ll be pissed if I take an hour to draft up the Dusk and people do some last minute vote changing.
Or, I can just post it as soon thereafter as I can, and the Night can then end whenever I get all the instructions or artificially extended, however the town concensus seems to go.
I’d say that the Day ends at 9:30 whether or not you’re around. You can post Dusk whenever you get back. Anyone who posts after 9:30 should follow Night rules. That way the timing of everything goes according to plan.
This whole thing reminds me of Auto in M2 (I think it was) where people became so annoyed with his playing style that they just wanted to get rid of him. For me, it’s come to the point where if Mad turns out not to be scum I won’t be that surprised. But at this point he’s better off dead than alive.
Mad, you haven’t given us much evidence for your claims. Just because you FOS a handful of people doesn’t mean anything, even if you turn out to be town. I think your argument is that scum would have probably stood back and let the townies do their work for them by dunking you - ergo, we should be suspicious of those who are casting votes elsewhere, other than on your bandwagon. But I think it’s also easily possible that scum would feel safe casting votes for you because you are acting so damn scummy. Everyone who voted for you can say, “Holy shit, he was town? But damn, he looked scummy. Don’t you agree?” How, exactly, are we to seperate the wheat from the chaff?
I disagree. The “plan” was to have day end at 9:30PM so that Night would begin at 9:30PM-ish. If Blaster Master ends Day at 9:30PM but doesn’t post Dusk until Saturday morning, then Night won’t end until Monday Morning, and the following Day will end on Saturday, not Friday.
I’m not really opposed to this as it’s not too terribly different and Night might end Sunday night anyway. I’m mainly against it because it begins the slow creep towards ending Days on weekends again.
I’d prefer an 7:30PM end of Day over an 8AM the next day Dusk.
Does anyone really think something critical is going to happen between 7:30PM and 9:30PM?
I very much would have posted my 12th vote at 7:30AM today if I had known Blaster Master’s situation.
This is important since it would mean that, quite possibly, Mad the Swine is a sacrificial lamb for the Cultists. It would be even possible that, through actions by the secret role, they have somehow become aware that he is the Avatar (I doubt it, though).
If
a.) Mad the Swine is a sacrificial lamb
then
b.) His sacrifice has as its main purpose to provide cover for the Cultists
On my part, I have been looking a bit at the events that (probably) caused the Crusaders demise. After Night 1, there was a brief discussion by several people of the Night’s possible events. What I noticed is that it seems like a fishing expedition.
and Idle Thoughts gave his ideas on the subject here.
Shortly afterwards the Crusader, foolishly, posed an innocent question on the subject (which probably got him killed). Afterwards that discussion quietly died.
I’m still willing to believe HockeyMonkey is the Alchemist (since no one has counterclaimed) but, I firmly believe the people who commented on the subject (and, thus, set up the trap to get the Crusader) harbor at least one Cultist:
Which is where I came up with the idea, watching Auto in M2,as I said a few pages ago.
So you are dismissing my FOS’s as meaningless? How odd. You continue to raise on the scum o’meter.
It’s seems like you are looking for absolute proof to find a scum…you won’t find it.
I have stated my reasons and suspicions, if you choose to ignore them go ahead,I trust there are those that aren’t going to.
I understand that you are probably more motivated than most to figure out why the Crusader died, but do you really think scum would set a trap to find the crusader? I find that unbelievable. In my mind, especially early in the game, the crusader helps scum more than hurts it. the evidence shows that on night 2, the crusader took out storyteller, a monk. Why would scum even bother to try and find out who the crusader was? Furthermore, the trap you speak of doesn’t even make sense to me. I don’t see how the post you link to tells me anything about the identity of the Crusader.
I also think it is much more probable that the Crusader died because the scum thought the Crusader was the Oracle or Apprentice, not because they had identified the crusader by some means.
I don’t care either way about Day ending, really. 7:30 or 9:30, it’s just a two hour difference.
Not much to add today other than replying to the post below, but I still feel compelled to say and post SOMETHING each time I come on and check this topic after a bit of time.
I’m sorry but “set up the trap to get the Crusader”? :dubious:
First of all, you didn’t have to comment or post to any of it at th etime…but second of all, as far as I know, trying to figure out what could have transpired by way of multiple kills and listing all of the possible scenerios has been done since the game started to HAVE more than one death a Night (in M2). I don’t see why or how listing all of the possible things it could be is “setting a trap” for the Crusader. Color me boggled how you could think that…I think it’s either your biasness at your former self in this game being killed off and jumping at shadows or other motives for trying for people’s heads for very inane things.
I mean, if you’re going to have suspicions, at least have some that make sense…but, heck, I alone have done this (tried to list all of the possiblities that the Night deaths could be) in both M3 and M4. So have a lot of players.
I just don’t see or understand how you can say listing the possibilities is setting up any kind of trap for anyone.
Are you dismissing my misgivings as meaningless? Of course there is no absolute proof to finding scum. I am merely pointing out a flaw in the reasoning behind your supposed master plan. If you have any suggestions as to how we are to work around this flaw, please do tell.
I think there would have been more meaning to your FOSs if you had made them before your fate was sealed. You make them after you’re going to be dunked anyway. They haven’t been an influence in your garnering of votes. They are based on your reasoning that scum would play it safe and not jump on your bandwagon, leaving the town to do its dirty work for them. My point is that it could work the other way around as well. The bandwagon for you is so large and the consensus that you should be dunked is so overwhelming that there is plenty of room for scum to be hiding in it. How is this supposed to help us find scum? And this is not a snarky question - I am asking it sincerely. If you really are town and don’t want your death to be in vain, help me understand how we are to make the most of it.
You’re possibly (even probably) right as to the value of the Crusader in this game (at least early on).
Still, one of the data points that drew my attention to these events was not so much that there was a discussion of the possible scenarios that took place during the Night but rather that it ceased abruptly once the Crusader had given his comments on the subject.
And the thing that I found interesting about that discussion was not so much what was said but rather what was left out. Most of the people involved in the discussion left out things like the Crusaders’ success ratio, several blocking possibilities, etc.
My theory tells me that they were expecting the Crusader to come in to correct them (in other words, to add the missing information) since he’d probably had the different scenarios far more in mind than anyone else.
SnakesCatLady. can you add post [post]8781015]1657[/post]to your list of player workups? It was my analysis of the posts to that point of DiggitCamara [Ver 2], who replaced Autolycus.
Everything is WIFOM on Day 1. The best thing to do is just kill someone, and his vote for zuma might be a scum tell, might not be, and that the logic gets circular.
Apologizes for not being more comprehensible, but that’s how he is in a zero information situation.
Says his post #989 was not intended to paint himself any particular way. He was just being whimsical. But he did feel that he was starting to get painted into a corner the day before where he couldn’t do anything right. His post was a comment on that.
He thinks that he has not provided any info about his character and that it is interesting Pleonast would vote for him “straight out of the trap”. An OMGUS vote won’t help him, but he thinks we should all take a look at Pleo.
Says he is a townie, and that he is fine with being dunked, but that all good townies should resist being dunked if there is no good reason behind the dunking.
Responds to sach claiming that Mal’s fist post said “something to the effect of see, that shows I’m town too, which is trying to have it both ways.”
Saying that sach is factually incorrect and that Mal thinks he turned out to be right, people are trying to spin his words so they mean something other than what he said.

Responding to Idle.
Says that Kat did do some dubious things, but will not vote for her despite temptation (that temptation being that she voted for Mal last minute to break the tie). And that people with find him not voting for Kat scummy. One night post
Says that the only benefit to the town of having the priest or disciple claim is to know not to lynch them, and that a last minute role claim is better for that than to claim unprovoked.
He has suspicions, but they will unfortunately look like OMGUS votes.
One night post
I am not going to do today’s posts, because this has taken me long enough.
[offgame]This is just a shameless plug for my upcoming game, Mafia VI. It’s a much simplier game compared to ones that’s been going on (not that these are bad), but it has less roles and much easier play, I feel, instead of having to go over a lot of options. It’s more like the first one here was.
It’s at the boards that Mal’s game was…which are my proboards: http://psychopathgame.proboards106.com/ and sign up is now open to everyone so sign up if you want. [/offgame]
What else was there to be said? A few of us listed the possibilities of what could have gone down. Is this weird behavior? Is this any different then what players usually do in this game?
As far as I read, people listed things like some do every game. Some were forgotten about and you pointed this out and you had a “Oh that’s right” (me) and a “No, I remembered but left it off” (Hockey)
Now…why do you think it was YOU who was being fished around for? Or anyone for that matter? Couldn’t anyone have pointed this out? Just because you made the choice to, why are you thinking people who talked about it were looking and could have been “setting a trap” for you?
I guess I just don’t get why you’re reading into it as much as you are. People have done this every game and no, they haven’t always been scum. I can link you to great examples, myself included because I like lists and really like overanaylizing things and trying to figure things out.
On what, I have to ask? Your info was there on two of the lists of possiblities. It was the Alchemist that was forgotten. This can be explained in Hockey’s case if she’s the Alchemist herself. In mine, if I were scum, then why wouldn’t it be “laying a trap for the Alchemist”?
In other words, I think you’re really reaching, but that’s just me.
Well, while DiggitCamera’s theory is interesting, I don’t see how the Cultists could have successfully identified the Crusader on the basis of that question unless they’re psychic (in which case we’re all screwed). I think they just got lucky (or possibly unlucky, since who knows which side the Crusader would have helped?)
I guess I’ll go ahead and vote MadTheSwine since he’s at least a plausible breadcrumb, and I really don’t have any better ideas right now.
