And now it’s time for the dawn. Where is it?
Knock knock! Blaster Master…where aaaaare yoooooooooou?
Here I thought coming on today I’ve have a lot to catch up on.
Aargh! The suspense is driving me nuts!
A co-worker of mine once taught me:
Never let anybody drive you crazy when you know it’s within walking distance.
Sorry everyone, as I’m sure many of you know by now, weekends are difficult for me. The dawn is upcoming.
It had been a solemn Night after the dunking of the poor fluiddruid. Most of the town, rather than drinking away their sorrows, returned home in fear. Surely, any one of them could be next.
But it too was a quiet Night, and as the sun rose, the citizenry slowly trickled into the temple courtyard. Once it seemed everyone had finally gathered together, a head count was taken. Befuddled that everyone seemed to be present, it was taken again.
For the first time since the cult trials had begun, everyone had survived the Night.
The Day will end at 11:00 PM EDT on Thursday.
Oh Nairu help us!
YAY!!! Or … Oh no! Damned if I know which.
Ok, so let’s get this out of the way. Possibilities for a no-kill at this point:
-
Cult tried to kill and target was protected by Priest/Disciple
-
Cult tried to recruit and target was protected by Priest/Disciple
-
Cult tried to recruit and their target WAS the Priest or Disciple and conversion failed.
-
Cult successfully recruited
-
Psychopath was activated.
Best case scenario for Town is 2 and 3 because the recruit ability is wasted. Next best is probably 1 followed by 5. Worse case is 4.
Well, I think the last two nights give us some clues about their strategy; evidently they have been trying to find the Apprentice rather than going for the known Monk, and they chose to kill rather than recruit SCL and HNC. It could be that they’ve changed tacks, but as they haven’t found the Apprentice yet, I don’t see any particular reason why they would.
Well, I came in here and upon reading it, I felt pretty good, but by the same token I started automatically listing things and various possibilities to what could have happened. However starting to read the replies, I see it’s uneeded as USCDiver did some.
However, I see some stuff missing and even possibly mistaken (heck, or even purposefully mistaken if I want to play devil’s advocate)…
-
A block would also come if the Cult tried hitting a target that was protected by the Priest or Disciple, not just having to be themselves.
-
A recruit will fail if the intended target is being protected by either? I don’t seem to recall reading that, but if so, even better.
-
Trying to recruit a Monk, I think, would also fail.
-
The or a Alchemist could have blocked, although Hockey (if she’s to be believed and by now, personally, I believe her) could easily answer yes or no to this…HOWEVER, I, personally, feel it’s probably best that she doesn’t just to keep the scum guessing.
That all being said, it’s still a bit of a relief seeing no losses and starting tomorrow I’m going back in the thread again to reread stuff. I still feel really good and strongly for Diggit, though…and he, Mal, Cookies, and Kyrie round out my most suspected list right now, in that order (most shady, to me, to just shady).
I dunno, but how I take this game, on a Daily basis, is just who I feel my vote would lie best with. I’m obviously not going to vote for someone I feel is town or don’t really have a read one way or another and I think that’s the whole crux of this game. That is also why I personally think that post making is important and talking about who you’re most suspicious of is never a bad thing…although obviously some disagree.
Edited by way of quoting. I should have added the bolded sections above to my earlier post.
I see on preview Idle Thoughts has mentioned a couple of my omissions regarding the Monks and Alchemist
Hmm… there’s 18 of us still in the game, hopefully about three cultists, and with the Priest and Disciple both in, an average of one and a half saves per night to divide among fifteen people. That makes it about one in ten that the Cult chooses a protected target (a little more likely if we figure that there are some tall poppies like the Alchemist and the Martyr - if he is one - both more likely to attract attempted kills and protection). So I guess a Night with no kills is likeliest to have been a recruitment, although there’s a reasonable hope that the target was either immune or protected.
I guess we can start breathing easier if we start to see more no-kill Nights.
I’m pessimistic enough to think there’s more likely to be four-five cultists.
We started with a big group of players and have only killed one of the slimy bastids. I’m also operating under the assumption that there are more than 3 scum left.
Hey no death!
Ok, so this is the first time I have played in a game with a recruitment possibility (I was killed too quickly for M3 to count.)
What is the standard play at this point? Do we go on the assumption that a recruit happened? Do we ignore the possibility of recruit?
Does the no kill tonight change anything?
I don’t know about “standard”, but the safest play (imho) is to lug around each possibility that could’ve led to a no-kill night and consider each accordingly. Anyone who might have more context that empowers them to narrow down the possibilities can’t share that information without exposing themselves or others.
Ok, so basically treat it as we would a no kill night in any other game without giving extra consideration to the recruitment possibility? I suppose that makes a certain ammount of sense.
I don’t think that’s exactly what CTTDSWHC was saying, although I could be wrong. What I got from that post is that we DO have to be alert to all of the possibilities at once, including recruitment, until we have further information.
