Personally, I think we had a great night and I am looking forward to seeing what MHaye picked up.

Oh and FOS USCDiver for jumping straight in with the doom and gloom. Muddying the waters like that and casting suspicion on the town power roles is exactly the sort of problem that Cult wants the town to have.

I think that we DID NOT HAVE a convert last night and for good reasons. I don’t want the town getting sidetracked on a witch hunt which is unlikely to have happened.

Let’s just catch the original Cultists.

The good news is that we can probably rule Queueing out of the running for being the Avatar, based on Night 8s results and BlaMs response to my rule question. So the failed investigation was not a total waste.

The bad news is that the same statement is applicable to Kyrie Eleison. The strain of Yesterday’s arguments got to me and I fell asleep on the crystal ball.

(Don’t worry, it’s safely hidden where no Cultist can get to it.)

That question has occurred to me. It’s not possible to distinguish between the effects of a failed investigation and the effects of a roleblocking. (Right now I can’t remember where I read that).

I can’t see why the Alchemist would want to interfere with my operations, as if HM (or the real Alchemist if she’s faked us all out for five Days) is able to do so she’s not been Converted and thus doesn’t want the Cult to win. The only explanation I have is that she’d be playing for a Nonbeliever win and is blocking me so that I can’t split believer from nonbeliever,

I have no proof whatever that she is doing this, but then I can’t disprove it either.

If she has been slipping me Mickey Finns, then we can’t necessarily rely on my inference that Queueing and Kyrie aren’t the Avatar, either.

I am not sure I understand this. What doom and gloom? The idea of a convert? I think that is/was a safe assumption until you spoke up. Also just because you say a thing does not make it true. Sure you could have used your power and protected 2 people, Hockey might have blocked someone else and Pleonast may be a believer for all we know, however in no way that I can see can we completely rule out the possibility of a convert as it wasn’t possible to protect everyone last night.

As well I think it was me who cast the suspicion on a “town” power role if by this you mean Pleonast. I don’t see how we can know 100% that Pleonast is a believer and I think it is important that we remember that.

Well, let’s be clear, I haven’t cast any suspicion on any Town Power Roles. I’ve been suspicious of Pygmy Rugger for quite a while now. Look at yesterDay’s voting. She doesn’t even place a vote. Why? Because she knows that Idle Thoughts is a Cultist and she doesn’t want to risk an Avatar backlash if she voted for him and she would look just as suspicious if she voted for someone else.

If you have a good reason to know we didn’t have a convert last night then you’d better share it. But I think it’s reasonable to assume that the Cultists at least attempted one.

Thinking more about it now, the False Monk gambit seems to have been, at least partially, an attempt to identify the remaining players who were immune from Conversion. So last Night would have been a more appropriate opportunity to convert than the previous No-kill Night.

Ok, let me put it this way.

2 Good reasons why there was not a recruit last night.

  1. Hockey Monkey had a definite chance of preventing the ritual.
  2. **MHaye ** would only detect the Prophet as a believer and so the Prophet is likely to be around for at least one more day, giving a chance to perform the ritual tonight, when we do not have an identified Cultist for **Hockey Monkey ** to block.
  3. Who I blocked is between me and the Cult, as they well know.

I think it is far more likely that the cult did not recruit last night. They only get one shot at it, so for them to risk it last night, seems less likely than waiting one night when the chance of a recruit would be much higher.

As for recruiting, the cry so far has been that the usual suspect for a recruit is a town power role. Saying that you think the recruit has happened, suggests that you think one of the town power roles has been converted. Yes, that does include Pleonast.

Now, my question for **Queuing ** and USCDiver.

Why do you think that the Cult has recruited and not been blocked?
and the answer had better not start with “Because it was a no-kill night…”

I don’t think there’s any doubt about the claims, but because of possible recruitment, we need to be careful.

Since I won’t be able to post for a while, I’ll get my vote in now.

Although it may be tempting to keep zuma alive so that Hockey can block him, I’m not so sure that is wise. Keeping him alive allows him to muck with our voting. Might not be important now, but closer to end game it could be. That said, I could see keeping him around for one more Day, if we can ferret out another good candidate.

My suspicions are now on primarily Pygmy for not voting and secondarily on NAF and Queuing for not voting for Idle.

I realize it may be hard for the Town to trust me, but what more can I do? The circumstances haven’t allowed my powers to verify me. And revealing them won’t help the Town. MHaye did say I detected as Believer, which should give a little reassurance.

Also, in my defense, the Cult would much rather the Town kill me than themselves. Don’t let them trick you into doing their dirty work. They want to avoid the risk themselves.

I don’t necessarily. I just wanted to know why you thought it was suspicious of USC to think so. I hope that the blocking/protecting roles were lucky and won out last night. I also think that it would be counter-productive to assume that they were. That does not mean I want us to focus on the chance of a recruit from no-kill night #2. I would rather all of the unknowns undergo scrutiny from the trusted 2. Yes, 2. You and cookies cannot be converted. You and cookies are the only 2 known 100% believers, with Zuma a known cultist.

IMO, no kill night #1 is still a more important night then #2. Mostly because the odds are better for our blocking/protecting roles to have been effective.

Mhaye also gained a lot of believer cred by saying he found sachertorte to be a believer and a monk in the midst of the fight that was yesterDay. Let me remind you that this does not prove a damn thing about his true colours. He could very easily be scum hence knowing which of the monks was telling the truth. His investigations have not proven to be overly useful. The only nugget we have left from him is the FCOD came out a believer. Beyond that his role has not been extremely helpful either.

I would also like to remind you that while you know who you blocked you do not know who the scum tried to go after, and whether or not your blocked work. Sure a power role is the general play for the convert. This game is not exactly playing to the book. Right now all the scum need are numbers to win, hence they could have just gone for all damn person they felt like pretty much knowing none of the unknown 5 would have received any protection at all.

All of the Town Power roles have been claimed. Assuming we believe them all, there is no chance the Cult can make a mistake and try to convert an unconvertible.

I didn’t mean to imply that there was a successful recruit last Night, but I think it is reasonable to assume that there was an attempt last Night. We know 2 things that make it more likely: the Prophet is still alive and The Cult now knows what role every player has (except Avatar, and presumably the details of Pleonast’s claimed role).

Regardless, we’re back where we started. Either they had a successful recruit or they had a recruit or a kill blocked last night. I’m not clear on why we shouldn’t be playing under a ‘worst case scenario’ assumption at this point.
