I concur with sachertorte on the force-dunk-on-Friday issue IF and ONLY IF there’s still a pretty good town consensus, soley for the schedule shift.
I think that is a very good idea, sachertorte. Let the Cultists have the weekend and Blaster Master won’t get in trouble for spending too much weekend time on the game. Since there are currently 10 votes on Mad the Swine I will leave mine where it is unless he gets two more votes.

BM’s been kind enough to let me sub in. I’m about to leave work - this evening I will:
a) read through all of Pasta’s posts (but not post any analysis - this is just for me)
b) go through the players I’ve been picking up on while spectating and post any (new) analysis
c) try and make a vote.
(Right now, the only reason I see not to vote for MadTheSwine is to keep the Day going.)
Two other points - I’m completely new to the game, and like Nava I will be posting on European time.
On preview you’ve all started posting rapidly. I’ll go with the majority on whether to force-dunk - I’ve obviously no feel for the timing of previous Day/Nights. And I should probably reset my board clock to game time so I don’t have to sprain my brain calculating deadlines.
We should definitely dunk Captain Pig before the weekend. I don’t see much of a point in postponing his dunking unless he’s planning to put forth a new defense. If so, NOW IS THE TIME. He may not have the majority of votes now, but he’s obviously going to have them soon. Captain Klutz, Pleonast, and **SnakesCatLady **have all said they are going to vote for him which would put him at 13 votes…one more than the majority.
Unless somebody makes a HUGE mistake and says something really stupid in the next few days, I don’t think our target is going change. The only thing that will come from playing the entire Day is more unsubstantial posts. I’d say we’ve accomplished our task for the Day, let’s end it.
Also, whoever brought up Harry Potter makes an excellent point…a lot of people will not be on their computers this weekend. Myself included. In fact, I’m not turning on my computer, my TV, or my radio until I’m done reading. I can’t trust anyone or anything to not spoil the ending.

A Friday evening dunk sounds good to me. Of course this doesn’t guarantee anything as the night people do not have to take the full time alloted. I guess the apprentice could hold the night on purpose though by not putting in their decision until the last minute. Any believer power roles left should do this IMO. Force the Night to last until Sunday night.
I see no reason to change my vote. While the stated defense, that he was purposely acting scummy to draw out scum is a novel idea, its not one that I believe will be at all useful, and IMO is based on false premises. Why wouldn’t scum just go ahead and vote for the player the believers all think is scum? Its easier to hide in a large group. My vote stays baring someone actually coming out and saying they are scum.
Yes, the question wording is a bit odd in that regard. It could be scum trying to hide some information or it could just be sloppy wording. I note that Hockey Monkey is claiming not to have asked the question, so now we have some more meta information to consider.
It’s a little unfortunate that “who asked the question” and “how is the question phrased” become factors in evaluating a claim. I’ve noticed another possible clue: in the question, “alchemist” is not capitalised, whereas Hockey Monkey used “Alchemist” in her post. Again not much, but we are probably not supposed be trying to evaluate this sort of meta clue.

I’m glad I’m not the only one doing that. My wife will be reading it all day Saturday (even though it’s my birthday). It’ll be my turn on Sunday/Monday, after which I’ll return to the real world.
Well, to avoid some kind of mess, if there’s a general concensus that the Night should go the full length, regardless of whether I’ve received all instructions, I’d have no problem holding it. I only have it set up to end when all instructions are received to keep the game moving.

So 1/3 of the living players are convinced enough about Mad to dip him in the big drink, and we’re only barely a day and a half into the Day. Not only that, but some of these folks are trying to whip the frothy flanks of the bandwagon ponies into a full sprint of bringing about a 12 hour countdown.
Trying to get us out of the “weekend rut” might be a worthy endeavor, and Mad does indeed seem to be living up to his namesake by acting batshit crazy, but with the ratio of town to scum in the dead pool and 2/3 of the players not currently on the bandwagon, I ask everyone in the game: Are you really willing to let the momentum of the last 30 or so hours dictate the whole Day?
That is why some people are holding off on their votes - both to give Mad the Swine a chance to say something that might change their minds(or at least give us something to use after he is gone), and to not cut the day too terribly short. I don’t see where anyone is trying to start a countdown now; I have only seen discussion of having the countdown start on Friday - which still give time for discussion. I have said I will remove my vote if the count gets to 12 before Friday evening. Who do you think is trying to start the countdown now?
The ratio isn’t that bad IMO. 1 dunked cultist isn’t horrible. The problem is the night kills have been brutally effective.
To answer your second question; yes I am. I don’t know about Mad, but the possibility does exist he was the bread crumb. Of course the possibility exists that it was malacandra, or myself, or sach as town too. Since Mad has done nothing of significance and Hal voted for him, yes I have no problem with him going down. I am also willing to believe sachertorte is a believer. I thought that previously and I am willing to accept that as the crumb as well. I am also willing to except Malacandra as the crumb too. I know I am nothing but a citizen (and Hal said he thought I was town), so I am unwilling to accept me as scum :).
Therefore the benefit of a Friday dunking to get off of the weekend Day, works for me. It fits into the rest of what I think, so its like icing on the cake.
I am glad that BM is willing to guarantee the Night lasting the full allotment, however I think it should only happen if a town power roles makes it happen. Anything else would seem to interfere in a potential scum strategy. The scum may want the Day to end on a weekend because the believers don’t like it. I know I would if I was scum. Probably a moot point however.
Captain Klutz, in addition to my irritation with him for pushing us out of a tie yesterDay, has now brought us perilously close to a quick lynch today–seemingly voting for Mad solely to do so while keeping his own hands clean. I don’t like this any more than I like the previous behavior that led to the vote.
Agreed that we should not shorten the day too much. I would be in favor of stopping it sometime tomorrow to avoid the weekend rut - but I am not sure about everyone else’s schedules. I normally am not in favor of a shortened Day but I am definitely tired of the weekend day closures.
Do we have an option of adjusting the relationship of Days/Nights to weekends that doesn’t involve having to hurry up and kill someone?
I really don’t know what I think of Mad. Everything he says is starting to sound increasingly bizarre … but I feel sort of like he’d be sounding less bizarre if he were actually scum. My guess for now is either vanilla Nonbeliever (which has got to be the most thankless role in the game) or Psychopath.
If he were the Psychopath he wouldn’t know it, unless he had been activated.

I don’t know what Mad is, but I do know that he lied. Addmitting that you are playing falsly in an attempt to manipulate the other players in the game doesn’t make it any less of a lie.
