Mafia V: The Cult of Sekham

Thanks Hockey. That link wasn’t working for me, let’s see this one works.

NAF, your link works for me. Hockey monkey, you have double http:\'s in yours.

Damn, forget to add:

That list is just my own observations, partly based on the people Hal mentioned. As well I think it might be worthwhile to rather then discuss ALL the players, we take just one, and see if we can get some sort of consensus on them. I think the posting of player analysis should still continue, and you should give a title to your analysis post (this makes it easier to find when scanning posts by player), but we should try to focus our efforts, rather then being so willy nilly. We have time (I mean throughout the whole game). We should use this time like a team, even if their are snakes amidst us, and work together, rather then separately. I think at least.

A concern I see with this approach is the outing of pro-town power roles when they go under the microscope. Not necessarily a bad thing if a townie or two spots one, but this would be making them very public.

I mean to say…if a townie or two spots one during their private readings of the game.
Mad the Swine - all I can say is nice try. I don’t think it’s going to work. There is a possibility I will change my vote if you come in here and participate. At this point I don’t think that is going to happen, so I’m not changing my vote. Ya know, if you really don’t have time to play you could have taken the high road as others have and asked for a sub instead of trying to get yourself killed and leaving no useful information in the process.
Leave the moderating to Blaster,if he saw it fit to replace me, he would have.

I believe there will be useful information.

I see looking over the last days post,(from the time I said I was gonna be gone all day…remember that one SCL?) I didn’t do a good job of explaining what I was trying to accomplish.
My line of thinking was, act scummy enough to lead the scum to believe that the town is going to Day kill me without them(the scum) needing to cast votes against me. Why cast a vote as scum against a townie that is gonna get dunked by fellow townies(except mebbe one to give the bandwagon some steam(Malacandra)) ?
So ya’ll pile up on me,leaving them(the scum) to cast votes that won’t look damning in the future.
I think it would be a perfect time for scum to chime in and say"Yeah,Mad is really scummy but I find so&so scummier" and cast a vote against a fellow scum…then if one of those scum is killed, they have another safety net… on top of not voting for me,they voted for, or were voted against by, a dead scum, depending on which scum was killed. Thats for whoever was asking why ,when I am dunked, they should look at who did not vote for me instead of who did…I think it was Hazel.
This is all speculation and guess work of course(just like every other Mafia game),but I thought it might be fun to try and spice up the role a bit..and mebbe catch at least one scum in the process, hopefully two or more.Which I think I have.

I hope ya’ll at least consider looking at the 4 FOS’ed I mentioned when I am dead.

I will comment on other posts shortly.

I admit that I am disappointed we haven’t heard anything further from Mad the Swine. I was hoping he would come in and at least provide some analysis, if he wanted anyone to take his claim of being a townie seriously. As it stands, if he is a townie he’s not a very useful one.

Oh well. Onward and upward! My next project will be to go back and make a chart giving links to all of the player work-ups that have been done so far. I will put the link in my signature and will try to remember to show my sig. It may not be finished until tomorrow.

The problem with your strategy is that A) it fails to account for townies who thought you were having some kind of breakdown and DID see someone more scummy, and B) it fails to account for the fact that scum will hide in groups rather than venture out on their own–if the vote to kill you is so unanimous that it forces an early day ending, then any scum in there can beat their breasts and weep along with the townies, and lament their mistake caused by your psychotic break, and have way better camo than the one-offs.

It also fails to account for anyone who might want to leave breadcrumbs outside the context of a bandwagon, for any number of reasons. A vote for you is essentially white noise as far as analysis is concerned, which is just how scum will like it.
This entire “role-claim as scum tell” thing is not sitting well with me. I thought we’d already discussed the fact that saying “scum would never do this” or “scum would totally do that” is not helpful. I can see that it would suit scum to role-claim, particularly this early in the game, if for no other reason than to throw everyone into chaos. But it would also suit scum to cry vanilla townie by saying “Look! If I were scum, I’d role-claim right now and throw everything into chaos! But I won’t do that, because I’m a plain old vanilla townie. Kill me if you must, I shall die heroically!”

Townie deaths can be helpful, but I’m not sure if Mad’s will be (assuming he is a townie). He has had almost no activity since the first Day, so there’s not much to analyze from his posts and the responses they generated. The people who immediately voted for him from the get-go might fall under suspicion, but they can’t all be scum; and besides, Mad’s actions were scummy enough to justify the votes, IMO.

I’ll vote **MadTheSwine ** for now. I haven’t forgotten my last vote for Pleonast, but right now Mad looks a tad bit scummier.
Can you point out that vote for Pleonast?

Also, it’d be damn funny if you were scum, and the first four people who voted for you were the rest of the scum–“safe” under your little ruse. The scum are sufficiently far ahead in the numbers game that they could probably afford to lose one to burrow their remaining numbers in deeper.

I never was under the delusion that it was a perfect strategy.

But a vote not for me is not white noise, its veeeery revealing.

You are scum,I am sure of it.

Vote Zeriel
If he were the psycopath he wouldn’t know it.

I don’t know what Mad is, but I do know that he lied. Addmitting that you are playing falsly in an attempt to manipulate the other players in the game doesn’t make it any less of a lie.

Lynch all liars.

The problem is, I don’t know what else to say for the rest of the day. I guess we could all talk about what we think of the Mad lynch some more.
NAF, I lied several times in M4 and wasn’t voted for..oh wait…you were already dead…nevermind.

So as Hazel would say…I find it odd that you would lynch all liars.

I find it odd that Hazel finds so much stuff odd.

…I’m pointing out ways that your plan is flawed from a town perspective, and I’M digging a hole?

Since I never remember to put my signature on my posts I’m not going to try to link it. I’ll just write down the post number and page so if anyone needs it they can ask.

Thoughts on MadTheSwine:

It’s been done to death in the last 24 hrs but this is the first chance I’ve had to post. That “grand scheme to out scum” post reminds me of when I was caught in a false role-claim in M4. I had role-claimed steele (MTS’s role), falsely accused Idle Thoughts, and got caught. I briefly, desperately came in when the votes started piling up and said I’d be able to explain it all (my thinking was that I was going to claim a secret role), before just giving up.

This scheme of his reminds me of my desperation in that game… Trying to come up with convoluted explanations for scummy actions. Contrast this to Idle in that game, and just about every other innocent sent to hang, protesting it all the way, laying out reasons to vote for someone else, and finally leaving some parting words for us to follow up on.

Zeriel already brought up the fact that the plan is flawed:

Add to that that there are a few here who find MTS’s behaviour so outlandish that they are hesitant to vote because they worry about a secret role. It doesn’t account for them, either.

I’ll have to give some more thought to the theory that MTS wants to be dunked due to a secret win condition, but it’s far more likely MTS is just desperate scum.

I won’t be voting at this time so as not to start the 12-hour counter, but barring anything dramatic happening, I’ll be voting MTS tomorrow.
Captain Klutz, in addition to my irritation with him for pushing us out of a tie yesterDay, has now brought us perilously close to a quick lynch today–seemingly voting for Mad solely to do so while keeping his own hands clean. I don’t like this any more than I like the previous behavior that led to the vote.
I explained the reason for my vote in #1908: I can’t judge very well when Friday evening will be, so I made my vote to allow someone to pull the trigger at the appropriate time. I’m not sure how being one of the voters qualifies me as “keeping his own hands clean”. Alternatively, I could have simply not voted at all and let the other players do all the trigger pulling - I’m not sure if you would regard that as clean hands or dirty hands.

And “I don’t like this any more than I like the previous behavior that led to the vote.”
I’m not sure what this means. If you are referring to the Day 3 vote between Hockey Monkey and Scuba_Ben, I explained my actions in #1875. Yes, I did cast the vote that broke the then 4-4 tie. After that, DiggitCamara unvoted Hockey Monkey and MadTheSwine voted Scuba_Ben. The final result was 6-3, so it’s not clear if my vote actually made a difference.

I find it odd that you would find it odd that I find things odd. :stuck_out_tongue:

I suppose when I say odd I mean suspicious, but suspicious in a way that perhaps could be explained by something other than scumminess.

If you look at the previous Day’s voting records, you’ll find that I voted for Pleonast, along with two others, I think.
