Mandalorian Season 2 Thread [Open Spoilers]

Sure it’s in his character, but we were clearly meant to sympathize with the frog lady and her plight. Having the baby just casually destroying her entire race was just very clashing.

It’s not this kind of series. It’s a series of stand alone stores with an over arching plot the occasionally gets added to.

Hmm, well… The first episode at least had lots of Easter eggs for SW nerds. This one I just wish I had skipped completely.

Oh, and Baby Yoda is a jerk. Yeah, he’s a baby. I get it. Still, I hope he gets up to more in the season than just putting everything gross he comes across in his mouth.

That’s sort of an oblique way of calling the actor fat :grinning:

The eggs are Mrs Frog’s own personal last chance at reproduction, not the last chance of her entire species.

I was a bit concerned that she apparently did not count the eggs and has no idea that some have gone missing.

And she routinely let them out of her sight. You’d think she’d keep them strapped to her at all times.

Poor parenting or poor writing?

At first I thought she did. Just before she went to the hot spring, she was pointing at the container and trying to tell Mando something. At first I thought she was trying to tell him some of the eggs were missing. Upon second viewing it’s apparent she was saying that it was getting too cold for the eggs. Towards the end I do think she’s giving The Child the stink eye, having realized what he / she did.

or…you know…put a lock on the container.

Exactly right. It seems like quite a big step backwards this season so far. So far the season seems far less interesting than last season.

The show’s always been fairly episodic. For example, last season we had the Magnificent Seven episode with Cara followed by the “help a bounty hunter on Tatooine” episode followed by the prison break episode.

It’s hard to call something “filler” when we don’t know how this season will turn out.

Yeah but the stand-alone episodes were stand-alone interesting and fun, if nothing else for their twists of standard tropes through this SW universe specific lens. As a stand alone episode this was boring and trite.

The foreshadowing is that mama frog lady is going to at some point realize that The Child has eaten her eggs and go her version of mama Ice Spider on his green ass, or at least should be.

I’m hoping they pick up the quality of the writing and the stories soon. Easter eggs and good special effects are not enough.

I guess though I don’t get what is cute and funny … early on in the movies Jabba eating both Leia’s ovaries would have been SO CUTE. Awwww. Just his character.

Sigh.

It seems that “Controversial” doesn’t mean what I think it means.

So. Wow. That’s another rumour* not just confirmed but better than I had hoped.

This one really does require knowledge of the animated series to get the most out of it.

Boy howdy, that was fun!

*More than one rumour, really.

Yep. Next week is the one to look forward to.

Just a passing moment, but loved the All Terrain Non-attack Crane.

Katee Sackhoff looks better than ever, had to remind myself that she is not really too young to play Bo Katan, she just looks that way.

Loved the latest episode! And it confirmed that our Mando is part of a small fundamentalist-ish sect of Mandalorians, and the “don’t take off your helmet” thing is not common among Mandalorians.

Another very enjoyable episode. After we watched it, I remarked to my wife, “so, this explains why the Mandalorians in Rebels took their helmets off – those Mandos were Reformed, and our Mandalorian is Orthodox.”

I really liked that. And the fact that Mando isn’t even aware of other Mandalorian sects suggests they’re super insular. Which explains how he has no idea what a Jedi is.

I’m sure there are better informed experts than me who are figuring this out, but Bo-Katan’s birthdate is unknown, so if we factor in a lowball guess at 25-ish during Clone Wars, that would mean she would be ~55yrs during this episode.

Katee is 40, but has looked much the same for the last 15 years, so maybe wouldn’t look too different 15 years from now. So I’ll allow it.
