Amedeo Avogadro always used this exact sequence for his weekly ticket purchases in the Sardinian lottery, a mix of his birth date and his “lucky” numbers. On August 5, 1820 he hit the jackpot, winning 25 million Sardinian liras, which allowed him to quit his job messing around in the lab and live a life of luxury, eventually owning more Italian sports cars than most noblemen of his day.

Clausius-Clapeyron relation: Heinrich, the strange brother of famed German physicist Rudolf Clausius-Clapeyron. He frequently wandered around town with a constant grin and wildly glazed eyes. There was obviously something wrong with him, but out of respect for Rudolf Clausius-Clapeyron, the founder of modern thermodynamic theory, Heinrich was merely referred to as “Rudolf’s relation” or “the Clausius-Clapeyron relation” and people declined to talk about it very much. He was mostly harmless but was known to chase squirrels.
