Mark Your Calendars: NYC MegaDopefest III -- January 3-5, 2003

She herself said she wants to go to EnWyeSee. We’d be doing her a good turn. Think of it as humanitarian aid.

Hey, promise her a ride in the Caddy. She’ll be putty in your hands…

Make that “crankier”. And yeah, the chances of us getting back for a holiday visit this year are slim. :frowning:

Absolutely. We’ll call it the ZappoDave Plan.

But I am not driving the '66 in NYC and/or leaving it parked on the street there. Are you nucking futz? However, there may be another Cad in my future, so all is not lost. . .

Well, I don’t have any other plans, and those Chinatown buses from here to there are pretty cheap and convenient. And I love New York City. Don’t see why I couldn’t make it. Might need a floor to crash on, though.

Hmmm…this may be a possibility for the Bluesclan.

I think it goes without saying that I’ll be there, though I have no idea if the wife will be able to come this year.

In any event (meaning if it’s just me or both of us) the need for a place to crash will be imperative.

I’m giddy already.
And what’s this about Nacho4Sarah having a fedora? Jeez, Persephony, if you already have a friend with a cool hat why do you make a big deal out of mine?
[Sigh] Ah, well. This will be fun!

It’s another gal entirely they’re talking about.

I got the green light! I got the green light!

I’ll be there, flying in from Canadia.

Elly

Well then. I reckon that puts me back in 1st, huh?

Waterj2, I’ve been hearing about those Chinatown buses. $15 or something?

Not that Nacho4Sara wouldn’t look totally killer in a fedora…

Okay, that does it, we need to organize a DopeChickFedoraFest! Even on an informal basis. Gals, if yer gonna be in New York City in January, do your best to wear a fedora. I’m bringin’ mine.

I’m officially looking for somewhere to rest my drunken head. I will sleep on the the floor or will share a room. I don’t take up much room and I will bring all the booze and stuff.

I am midway between Montreal and NYC if anyone wants to carpool (If I’m driving though, no rap music will be tolerated in my car). I do have to warn you that once I start partying it aint gonna stop until sun-up.

Honey

I think it’s $15 if you go before 7PM, $20 afterwards. I also saw Greyhound advertising $20 fares, so I guess they’re trying to compete (it used to be around $45 on Greyhound).

If we end up on the same bus, let’s agree not to talk about Enron or the Bush administration.

Maeg, can I have a spot on the floor, n’ stuff?

Huh huh huh?

Mon frère?

You wink, but that’s pretty much what happened at the last one:)

Don’t listen to 'puna, Honey. At the last Mega we played chess and backgammon while munching on cheese and crackers. There was a wine, but we just tasted it and spit it out.

It got a little crazy when manhattan was caught prentending to spit. That manny, he’s a wild and crazy guy! vix and Geobabe winked at Colibri. Boy did he blush. Later there was a little dancing and singing at the piano bar at Oxy’s. I must say it was a very pleasant diversion.

Okay, here is the deal. We just firmed up our vacation schedule, and I am free to come. And I WANT to come…there are so very many NY and nearby Dopers I would just LOVE to meet “face to face”!!! HOWEVER…that deck rotting off the back of my house was recently declared yummy by carpenter ants, so waiting any longer to replace it was no longer an option. I am therefore officially broke. Which is not any of you all’s problem, but still, there it is. Do you have any idea how expensive a new deck is? I sure didn’t.

I don’t know if I can swing it, but if I can come up with the airfare and associated costs I would need a floor to sleep on…preferably several floors, since I am not about to come all the way to NY and not stay longer than a weekend and miss seeing all the sights…and I don’t want to burden anyone too long with my presence. I would be happy to “bounce around” to several Doper floors…I can’t bring a sleeping bag, so said floors would need to come with linens.

So, there you have it. Anyone willing to host a Scotti? If so, I will start scheming to find a way to come up with the money.

I would go, but my parents give me a hard time about these things. Also, I’m not driving in the City.

Waterj2, that’s fine by me, I got pamphlets.

Oh, Scotti, you must come. Alas, there isn’t room at Casa Dave-Guy (and it’s in the 'burbs anyway), or I would roll out the red carpet for you.

But please say you’ll be here. I wants me a ScottiHug. And if I knew about the carpenter ants munching on your deck before, I woulda given you some superb advice from a bona fide hired killer, absolutely free. Darn ants.
