Marriage, Mexican Style - A Destination Wedding MMP

The snow turned into rain.

… I do hope it’s not the same show I saw in Boston, or that if it is, they’ve updated things a bit. The presentation, of course, not the items! I loved it, but

it was in 1988

and design notions have changed an itsy bit since then.

kopek, given your age I think you could’a taken it as a compliment

One day when I was in Philly, our boss brought over one of the Big Kahunas for the next stage of the project, a man about 60. He introduced him to us and the guy exclaimed “but… you’re all girls!” And the Southern Lady, who wasn’t going to be turning 50 again, went all butterfly-lashes and said “why thank you dear!”

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN It’s my Firday!!!

It’s cold. Ick! Oh well, at least it’s not cold and rainy.

Ima go purtify and go grab some brekkie at that paragon of gourmet dining know as Three Squares Diner. I got a hankerin’ for an omelette and don’t wanna make one.

All y’all in snowy/icy/other icky weather stay warm and dry!

Happy Saturday Y’all!

Good morning all, I’m up and caffeinating as well, although I do not have to go to work. And Thank Og for that! It’s a blizzard, for real, out there! Seriously, the snow is accumulating on the ground and still coming down! I’ll watch the local news at 6 am to find out if there’ve been any revisions in the forecast, but according to the Washington Post’s weather page (yeah, I know … how reliable is that?! LOL), DC and surrounding area are now in the territory for accumulations of 16 to 24 inches! That’s two frigging FEET of snow! I do hope my boss signed the time cards yesterday.

I hope you can get HRH to take that medicine, Dotty. I know how she feels, though. Blargh!

You stay warm too, Swampus!

Rain again, hockey tonight.
Herbs, 2 feet?

Up to a white world, and we’re not talking racism here. There’s at least 8" in our yard, and since there’s been no wind to drift it, I’d say it’s a pretty fair estimate of what we’ve gotten so far. And it’s supposed to keep up all day and all night - till around this time tomorrow. ugh

Scruffy didn’t want to go out last night when it started, so she gifted me with a pee puddle in the dining room. Thank goodness for my carpet cleaner!!! When I took them out this morning, Bernie stepped in the snow, squatted, then turned right around. I shoveled out a small area for Scruffy - at least she could sniff the ground - but she wasn’t impressed and went right back in.

I had suggested to **FCD **that we bring some of our firewood in. “No need” he says. “It’s right outside the garage door” he says. Yeah. Under 8" (so far) of snow. It would have taken SIL and me maybe 10 minutes to bring in a nice stack of split logs. Now we’ll have to shovel before we can start fetching. *Men *- sheesh!

Daughter and SIL went out last night to a local farm where the guy is famous for his Christmas displays. We were getting worried as there was already 2" accumulation and both of them are Floridians. When they finally got home at 11-ish, they said “It snuck up on us!!” You mean this snow they’ve been talking about non-stop on the local news, the reason we asked you to get us 2 new snow shovels, the reason I suggested you park in the driveway instead in your usual place - that snow snuck up on you?!? How can intelligent people be so dumb??

Anyway, one local report says we could possibly get 17 more inches. So yeah, doggio, 2 feet is within the realm of possibilities. But Christmas is supposed to be mid-40s and rain. I’m dreaming of a wet Christmas…

I’m thinking we’re not going out for breakfast today. I’m thinking leftover pizza might just hit the spot.

Happy Saturday. Stoopit snow. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, crap - we’re almost out of milk. I could have stopped after work yesterday, but I didn’t know we were so low.

Guess when the power goes out, we’ll just eat dry cereal.

The snow isn’t falling as heavily, but the wind has picked up. Unless this storm recharges, we won’t hit 2 feet. Which is good. But there’s still a lot of shoveling to be done out there.

Here in the city we’ve got maybe 2 inches and the neighbors on each side of TVMan’s house are already out there with their snow blowers and shovels clearing a path. I find this kind of funny because at my house, the driveway is so long that there’s no point going to any driveway-clearing trouble until you’ve got 6 inches or more. Oh well. At least I didn’t have to go out there to clear a path.

Today I am very weak and tired. Of course, it’s definitely been a hellish week. Or year, really. I just made our usual breakfast and will probably go back to bed fairly soon. Fortunately my hives are gone and I hope that they won’t come back again.

Happy Saturday! Back in Paris which pretty much shut down on Thursday after a couple inches of snow. The Channel Tunnel shut down last night as well - 4 trains broke down and they are blaming the weather on either side.

Freezing here -5 deg C! My apt is chilly and as it is communal heat I have no control!

2 feet? Pshaw. Up north in Ontario they got blasted with a grand total of 160 centimeters (over 5 feet) between last Thursday and this past Monday – 80cm between Thursday and Friday alone. Those of us in the southern end of Ontario only caught the fringes of that storm, which barely gave us 20cm, about half of which has melted. To put that in further perspective, Toronto saw that much snow all last winter. Grand total. One of my cow-orkers (an outside sales rep, so travelling is his job) got caught behind a tractor trailer accident (which couldn’t make it up a slick hill and slid back into traffic) on a highway up by Huntsville for 7.5 hours. The cops eventually had to come by (on skidoos, no less) and make a special lane for traffic to turn around, so my cow-orker had to go back to Bracebridge and get a motel room.

So, to day is Dentist Day for me, and guess what I have? Yup. An abscess. Right after I finished my course of Amoxycillin. Freakin’ figures. That means he can’t use the freezing stuff, which means he either can’t do the work, or he’ll have to ply me with NOS, and I don’t know if my insurance covers that. I’ve never had the gas before. I’m told it gets you … elevated. This concerns me. I’ve been stoned in my younger years, but I’ve never particularly enjoyed it.

I shoulda got my wisdom teeth out when I was younger, even though I didn’t actually need to. (Although the official reason was that I was born with crowded teeth, resulting in a number of crooked ones but room for my wisdom teeth to grow in unimpeded, my wife prefers to say that I just have a big mouth.)

Snow is relative, isn’t it? When we lived in Jacksonville, we got an inch or so one night. Panic was rampant!! It all melted shortly after noon, but for a few hours, the city stopped. It just doesn’t snow there.

So 2 feet here is a big deal, especially so early in the year. Our county has very good road clearing plans, but this much snow is a strain - it’s just unusually heavy all at once.

What I’m seeing now looks almost like sleet mixed with snow - it’s falling pretty fast, but tiny, little particles. Ugh.

Second load of laundry in the washer. I’ll have to wash one of the kidlet afghans I made - apparently a certain cat decided to pee on it, and by extension, on the new love seat. Stoopit cat.

Good morning everyone! I’ve been up awhile and my coffee is in hand, well actually cup.

No snow here! All of you getting attacked by the white stuff stay safe if you venture out on the roads. My sister, who lives in Maryland, posted a pic of the snow at her house. I told her she could keep it.

I’ve got a couple of errands to run today, and then tonight we’re going to a friend’s house for a Christmas party. It should be fun. I’m looking forward to it.
It’ll be our “regular” group, plus two others.

I’m pleased to note my headache has finally disappeared. It came on about noon yesterday, and nothing, NOTHING, made it go away. I crawled into bed about 11:30 last night, but had a hell of a time falling asleep. I finally slept, and now I feel somewhat back to normal.

Mornin’

No snow up here in the Great White North. Well, okay, a light dusting left over from the other day, but it’s not even enough to cover up the lawns completely.

Nyah nyah! (if it makes you feel any better, tho, it’s unpleasantly cold outside… which is why I plan on staying inside as much as possible today)

Cousin and her pups will be over shortly for lunch and scanning of old family photos, which we’ll later load onto Grandmumsy Dearest’s digital photo frame. I’ve got a mozzarella-mushroom-spinach-olive-tomato quiche in the oven, and will toss together a quick salad to go with once she gets here. It will be Teh Yum.

Might as well go finish tidying up. Not looking like other cousin will show up with her toddler, but she may still surprise me… so I’m doing a last minute sweep of all edible, quasi-edible and looks-edible-to-a-2-yr-old objects.

What snow? The weather people were making this out to be the Storm Of The Millennium. I saw maybe three flakes ambling along in the morning. Around lunchtime, it was a drizzle.

We have met and dealt with one significant snag with the house. We rented it basically sight unseen and were not aware that there was no connection for a gas dryer. The house owner agreed to let us have the gas company install a line. In order to tap off of the pipe at the meter and run 15 feet of pipe to the laundry room was bid out at $529.76. (And people were saying how cheap everything is here?) For $429 plus tax, we elected to buy an electric dryer at the Sears Scratch-n-Dent Orphanage that more or less matches our LG washer. Come tax time, we might sell off our old LG washer and both dryers and get a matched set.

Almost done with work for the day (we’re still overwhelmed with merger activity and backed up like mad) - there’s some kitchen furniture waiting fur us to retrieve it from the store. Then, more unpacking.

Obligatory snow pics. It’s still coming down. And it’s cold. Stoopit winter.

**Taters **- where in Md does your sis live? If you told me, I’ve forgotten.

Well, more laundry beckons. Envy my exciting existence.

it hasn’t started snowing here yet - one town south it has, but not here.

I’m okay with this storm, provided it is the only one of the season (do you hear me, Gaia?). Snow in time for Christmas is important for the wee ones. As long as the streets are cleared before Monday morning.

Dang, FCM! I showed my husband your pics. He just shook his head and said, “That’s crazy, I’m glad we don’t live there”.

My sister lives in Frederick, MD. Her husband is active duty Army.

I’ve got to get in the shower very shortly. I realized last night that I don’t have gift tags for the presents. I ran out last year, but didn’t think about it because I didn’t need them until now. I also have to buy myself a new hair dryer. Mine was dead yesterday, and I meant to buy one, but forgot. Fortunately, I was able to use my daughter’s dryer, but that’s not a permanent solution.

So, I need to by gift tags, a hair dryer, and maybe I can get that last gift for my daughter’s boyfriend. Need to buy stocking stuffers too.

Wow!! That is expensive gotti, even for the electric dryer! We just bought a new dryer last week (UK-manufactured, 6kg capacity, auto-dry sensor) for US$265, including delivery.

HRH is asleep - another trip to the doctor this morning, to acquire a prescription for suppository cough medicine (who knew?) plus nebuliser medicine and a recommendation that we shell out US$100 to buy a nebuliser. Fortunately, HRH decided that the nebuliser is quite fun - much more fun for me than trying to get her to swallow cough syrup and then cleaning up after she vomits everywhere!

No snow here - although we have had 4 times our usual December rainfall over the last week or so! :stuck_out_tongue:

Fatal house fire in Cottonfield County. Must shower and sleep…

Well, I am back from the dentist, absent one tooth. The freezing took just fine. I have gauze to chew on, and the left side of my face feels like a foreign object. On a good note though, I can do an awesome impression of Mushmouth. I’m having trouble drinking bottled water though. I end up looking like Tim Allen at the restaurant after his Botox injection in Christmas with the Kranks.

He didn’t prescribe me any Tylenol 3s though. He said I should do just fine on extra strength OTC stuff. I say bullshit. I’ve got a brand new hole in my head, and I have some leftover T3s from my first visit, so Iba gubuna tabake debem, dabamit.
