Masking up (again) in the MMP

We didn’t have an open campus at high school - I was amazed when I found out how many places did. And I almost never bought lunch - I was a brown-bagger for pretty much my entire school career, including much of college. Being broke does that to you.

Back from supper - and stuffded!

Roxy had a really good potty day - I only had to change her once and that’s because she couldn’t get her pants down fast enough. Thankfully, it was on the tile floor and not on furniture. She starts school in less than 2 weeks - fingers crossed that she masters it by then.

OK, time to assume the recline position. Toddler wrangling is wearying…

Howdy Y’all! I did my thang this mornin’ and then devoted the rest of the day to sloth. Well, I did decide on BLT’s and oven fries instead of majik intartoobz pizza, so that involved some effort.

{{{Quietly}}} no words, just a hug.

Taters I’m sure Polar will pull through. Hope he’s back at home tomorrow.

My high school was all in one buildin’ except we did have to walk outside to go to the gym but even that was a covered walkway. Juniors and Seniors could leave at N.O,L. so I often did. There was a DQ a block away so went there a lot. Also we had an unofficial dedicated smokin’ area, i.e. kinda sorta illegal but TPTB overlooked it and I would go hang there. I was kind of delinquent and misspent my youth.

Evening all. The powers-that-be closed my regular practice field due to a quick rain this afternoon so I called an audible and we went to another park they had left open. Rain is expected tonight so soccer tomorrow is still in question. Practiced until after 7pm and then dropped off my gas bill and stopped at Kroger’s (my ersatz butter is good to 22 June 2022) so I let Jack’s (local burger chain) take care of the evening repast. Now need to get organized for tomorrow…I coach U8’s at 8:30am, referee at 10:15am, coach the U12’s at 12:30 and help organize the U8 girl’s teams at 2:30…almost wishing for rain…

Taters, hope Polar is doing well. And you are too.

You don’t have a sonic screwdriver to fix it with???

On the High School discussion, my Mom used to pick me and my brother up when she had the car, it was about a 2 mile walk from High school to home and we had to walk it in the morning since Dad wasn’t home from the night shift yet. And while we did have a designated smoking place, we weren’t allowed to go wandering at lunch time (and there wasn;t all that much nearby anyway).

OK, food has been assimilated and I still have some soccer stuff to do, so all y’all take care and I’ll see you tomorrow (if I survive…).

My dad’s almost 80, and he’s still having fart fun.

That really hit hard. I’m really in a rut, and my nearest and dearest are also stuck in a rut, and the way out is not clear.

Also sounds good at 10:00 am. Except I have to make it myself, pouts

Thank you! I love a good oatmeal raisin, especially one that’s chewy.

I got so far behind in this week’s posts, I got mixed up, and clicked on flyboy’s link thinking it would be a Toast Monster.

{{{{{{quietly}}}}}}

This week was rough, even though I only had one doctor’s appointment for my ear, instead of three, like last week.

Yesterday was unexpectly busy because we (work “we”) discovered that something broke back in June, and no one noticed it until now, just before we have to make a major delivery.

I had started laundry yesterday, and the washer finished, but both hubby and I were busy. And I discovered it at 5:00, when hubby wanted to take a nap, so I couldn’t run the dryer (it’s in the room next to the bedroom), and then we went out and came back home after 11pm, which is too late to run the dryer.

So this morning I ran the washer again (quick wash, instead of the full wash) and now it’s finally drying.

High point of the week was opening a bottle of Japanese whisky which was gifted to hubby. This is way too easy to drink and won’t last long.

We were going to go see English language comedy with a friend tonight, but she cancelled, so we’re staying home. Have to do some yard work, so we’ll try to do something before it gets too hot. This whole summer has been wet and cool, or what too hot.

And it looks like a trip to the U.S. is not happening this year. Getting really tired of Covid numbers skyrocketing. Again.

Probably some time doing something productive for the home, instead of using all my energy on work stuff will be helpful for my mood. I hope.

Stay safe!

Morning, mumpers! Last day of official holiday before we have to head home tomorrow. It’s been fun so far, but I still haven’t achieved a decent night’s sleep.

(((((silenus)))))

Taters hope Polar’s surgery went well and he will soon be back home with you.

On the whole school thing, my school was several miles from where I lived and usually involved a fair bit of walking and a couple of buses to get there. We had a long-standing wrangle with the school as we were right on the edge of the catchment area for the official school bus service, so we weren’t technically allowed to use the school bus but often managed to get on it. All of our text books were supposed to be covered in brown paper so the start of term meant an evening of cutting and sticking.

Back to now, and today’s fun and games is a trip to a music festival. Had an email from them this morning saying that the barcode from my cashless account is wrong and I needed to correct it. I went to the site, checked the barcode and it’s correct so I’ve had to email them to ask them to check again. Now looks like I will have to set up a cashless account for the second wrist band number just in case mine really doesn’t work.

Fun times, right?

One of the classes my daughter is teaching this year is Yearbook - it’s an elective rather than an extracurricular. She dug out her yearbooks to take in as examples (class of '04) and I offered her mine also (class of '72!) I was flipping thru the pages and it hit me - half a century ago, I was getting ready to start my senior year!! Holy Crap on a Dusty Old Cracker!!! How can it be 50 years already? Dang.

I hope her students have a good giggle over the hairstyles, etc, in my 3 yearbooks.

When I was getting Roxy ready to go yesterday afternoon, I brushed out her hair - that child would sport a most impressive 'fro for a toddler! Her unrestrained hair is close to 6" long! I had to get a lesson in how to deal with it, because my daughter and I both have fairly fine and straight tresses. Roxy’s is not as tightly curled as her dad’s, but it’s still a challenge for one not accustomed to dealing with black hair. I managed to capture it in an absolutely adorable poof on the top of her head, but not before FCD took a couple of pics of her 60’s vintage look. Roxy got some serious giggles looking in the mirror.

Today’s plans, you ask? No clue. I really need to load the truck for the dump but I fear it’ll be very busy on a Saturday. Then again, what else do we have to do? I’ll see what FCD has in mind for today. It’s too wet to mow, with more rain threatened. I already did laundry. I can push the vacuum around, but that’s only about 15 minutes of activity. Maybe no productivity? Oh, the horror…

Happy Saturday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 92 with rain predicted to begin possibly late mornin’ and lastin’ the rest of the day. We shall see. No biggie items on today’s agenda other than bein’ retired drains on society. Sup shall be chikin nachos. I pulled a rack o’ ribs (already smoked) outta da freezer last night for tomorrow, so I could go ahead and make up coleslaw and baked beans today should the urge strike.

MetalMouse we had a Jack’s in Ye Olde Home Towne but it went away. Actually, it changed names. There is still a Jack’s in “The Valley” which is an area of Alabammy near Ye Olde Home Towne. Have I mentioned I grew up on the Jawja/Alabammy state line?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy Then onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning all. Up at 6am and am watching the sky and the Parks site to see if my 8:30am game is going to be played or not. Right now it looks like the rain is not in the area, but may be back about noontime, so no predictions. Got all my paperirk together, just hate to get fully dressed for it and have it cancelled on me.

boo fae, enjoy the music (once the financials work out).

dicey, been there, rewashed things. And easy on the booze

OK, need to recheck the weather. All y’all take care.

Good morning everyone.

I was able to take Polar home yesterday evening. I almost didn’t recognize him when they walked him out because he just seemed so beaten down. Of course, I’d probably feel that way too if someone had been poking, prodding, and slicing in the anal area. I couldn’t get him to eat or, more importantly, drink anything at all, but at 4:00 this morning, I heard him banging his cone on the patio door, so I got up to let him out. He came back in almost immediately, but drank a good bunch of water (finally!), and wanted back out so I took him back out to sniff and make water. Which, he did.

I got him to eat a few tiny nibbles of food, but he wanted nothing to do with his usual morning snack. I’m going to go out later today to try and find one of those inflatable collars. The very large cone he’s wearing makes it very difficult for him eat or drink out of his bowls. I am waiting on the path report to make sure he has clear margins.

He’s a mess and the poor guy has part of his tail and his rear area shaved. His fur will never be the same, but it’s so much better than the alternative.

boo fae, I hope you get the bar code thing squared away and enjoy the music festival.

metal mouse, I hope practice happens.

My school was spread out all over the campus, like a community college campus, so we had to walk outdoors and sometimes a fair distance to some of our classes like PE, shop, the auditorium, and some other classes. Our campus was considered open, so I often left it for lunch. There was a hamburger stand with fries to die for just catty-corner to the school, as well as a 7-Eleven not far from that. When my friends started driving, we often left to go to other places for lunch. I think either my junior or senior year, they made the school open campus only to juniors and seniors and only during lunch. Alas, my old high school was built on a different site some years ago now, and the campus I attended is used for school district Admin last I heard. My school celebrated its 20th year when I was a senior back in 1982. Since I was a senior editor on the yearbook staff, we made that anniversary the yearbook theme. We had “then” and “now” pictures, etc. It was a fun yearbook to put together and turned out well.

It’s currently 55 degrees with an expected high of 72 and partly cloudy skies. We shall see. I need to mow, the grass is shaggy!

{{{silenus}}}

Sis lit out for home about an hour ago. We enjoyed our visit and tried a new restaurant at the end of my street. It’s an Italian place with cloth napkins and tablecloths on one side and a Salvadoran / pizza joint for takeout on the other side. Pizza and Salvadoran food can be ordered on the fancy side, so that’s what we did. We ordered what we considered and adequate evening meal and were surprised to find the proportions enormous. It was really good and well prepared, so we took go boxes once we were full. I had a pupusa and some broccoli sauteed in olive oil and garlic from my box for breakfast. I woke up ~4:30 this morning because my shoulder was sore (I didn’t use my wedge when I went to bed last night).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Hopefully it will no rain today. I shall do some cleaning today.

{{{{quietly}}}}

Dicey, that whisky looks tasty.

Enjot the music fest, Boofae!

Glad Polar is feeling a bit better, Taters.

:frowning: It was supposed to be supportive.

Back from the dump run - we got rid of a lot of crap that we’ve been wanting gone for some time. So huzzah! Plus we were there about an hour after they opened, so it wasn’t crowded, tho I expect it will be later.

Shortly, I will clean the critter fountain, then push the vacuum around. After that, we shall see…

Awww. :frowning: Poor lil’ dude.

The inflatable collars are so much better than the cones.

Fun fact: A full size washer means I only have to do 1 load of colors!

Glad you’re not down in the dumps anymore.

Someone asked why Bacos Bacon Bits were discontinued, but I couldn’t find the thread. This is all I could find out:

Unfortunately, this product has been discontinued and is no longer available. While you enjoyed this product, overall general demand was insufficient to warrant its continued distribution.

@carnivorousplant
What do Martin Luther and an intestinal parasite specialist have in common? They both know the hazards of a Diet of Worms!

Happy Saturday!

Was a very dark and foggy morning when I went to pick my son up from irk.
A bunch of traffic lights were out too.
It was still foggy when I got to the park, but now the sun is shining and it’s 82 degrees.
My son is thrilled that his overtime day is cancelled.

Cursing AT&T again today. I thought we were done, but I got a bill in the mail with an overdue amount and a late charge and I was like WTF?
Looked up my closed account and I have a credit. Looked up my son’s account and it isn’t due yet.
Thinking okay, whatever, something crossed over in the mail.
Then I remembered the interim account. I got a bill for three days. I tried to pay it online, but because the account is inactive, I couldn’t.
So, I spent an hour + on the phone with AT&T trying to get it straightened out. The CS person said that there was something wrong with the charges, got the bill straightened out. He took off the late charge as well as some other stuff that shouldn’t have been there. Then he walked me through paying it online, and now that is done.
I hope.

Doggio, if you were my son, a full-sized washer means YAY! I only have to do one load a week!
He does not sort his clothes. I guess it doesn’t matter much when you don’t wear anything but black, and your sheets and towels are black too.

I’m glad Polar is home Taters.
Does he even need a cone/collar?
I’ve never needed to use one as my dogs have always left their incisions alone. Maybe Polar will be okay without it.

Since I got up at 330 today, woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep, there may be a nap later.
Other than that, and irk this evening, I have no idea what I’m doing.

Happy Saturday. I had a nightmare last night: windows kept popping open on my laptop showing the murder of two teen-age girls. I did not want to look at the grisly photos and kept trying unsuccessfully to shut windows without really looking. I woke up at 3:30 with that icky nightmare feeling and didn’t get back to sleep for over an hour. However, we got a short rain shower, so yay for that! Then I dreamed I was yelling at anti-vaxxers I know.

I’m now doing laundry. Trying to decide if I should walk to the grocery store today or wait until tomorrow. I hate to complain, but I’m really sick of that walk.

{{{{{{{quietly}}}}}}}}

Dice, what are the COVID numbers like there? I bet you’re safer staying put. Sorry you had a rough week. Sounds like medicinal whiskey may be just the thing.

This brought back fond memories of my grade school days and the smell of new pencils and the hope that comes with fresh starts. Thank you.

Taters, glad Polar is making a recovery, poor boy.

red, glad you had a nice visit with your sister.

Vacuuming is done. Then I decided to ride John Deere around the back yard. The tops of the grass was dry, but down under, it was wet and I had to clear the chute four times. Still, it’s done. If I’d waited much longer, mowage would have been next to impossible.

And once I came in, I chopped up the chickie that I baked, and it’s been converted into chickie salad for supper.

So, do I want to do something else constructive or just plop down in the recliner for some form of chillage?? Decisions, decisions…
