Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Last day of vacation. I need to vacuum today.
Depends on whether or not you have enough left to avoid a feline Donner Party.

Good morning!
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Other than Sunday chores, the only thing on today’s agenda is putting away the purchases from yesterday and some housekeeping chores in the studio.
Stay safe ande healthy y’all!
Happy Sunday!
Cloudy and cool 69 degrees at the park this morning.
It was a nice bunch and the dogs had a good time.
According to my weather app, the sun is shining. According to my window, not it’s not.
There’s, supposedly, only a 5% chance of rain. It looks like it’s going to rain any minute.
I have a lot to do today, but I suspect that like yesterday, nothing is going to get done.
Good morning.
It’s a cool 57 degrees with an expected high of 69 and partly cloudy skies.
Yesterday there was excitement downtown due to a very large fire at a commercial building that contained approximately 1,000 lbs of anhydrous ammonia, which is used for refrigeration.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, anhydrous ammonia is a clear, colorless gas that can cause nausea and burns to the mouth when inhaled. Exposure to large amounts of the gas can even be fatal.
There was an evacuation (GO NOW) order from around 5:00 am until around 6:30 last night at which time it was changed to shelter in place. I could see the nasty, very black plume of smoke from my driveway. I live up the hill from downtown and was outside of the evac zone.
I managed to score an inflatable collar for Polar and that’s made life easier for all concerned. He still can’t fit through the pet door, but that’s okay. It’s easier for him to eat, drink, and move around. He’s eating and drinking, but still no poo. I have to check the lawn in a bit and see if he did anything overnight or this morning. If he hasn’t pooed by Tuesday, I may have to take him back down to the vet which he will HATE, so I hope he does so. The pain seems to be under control too.
I don’t have any exciting plans other than the usual Sunday laundry, mowing the lawn and tidying up the kitchen.
Morning all. Newspaper has been retrieved from the driveway and the sun is finally out, so hopefully the rain is gone for a little while. Not much on the agenda for today, just recuperating from soccer yesterday.
Taters, glad you are safe and Polar is doing better.
OK, need to make some Instant Breakfast and be about the day. All y’all take care.
I’m a lumberjack, and I’m OK! And really sweaty and gross…
According to the outdoor thermometer, it’s just 79° in my yard, but I swear, it feels like a sauna! I gathered branches and decided it was time to break out the chainsaw (it’s an electric one - lighter than the gas models and easier for me to manage.) I got rid of the pile of branches that have been accumulating for some time. About half had to be tossed - they were rotting, but I got a fair bit that will make good firewood. There’s a big branch/tree that’s just waiting to get hacked up, but not today. And when I drove thru our woods yesterday, I saw a bunch more - an adventure for another day.
But first, we need a new chain and some more chain oil. And we really need a cooler day, dammit! But I’m glad to have that done. I’m rehydrating and waiting for the weed-whacker battery to recharge, then I’ll go out and do the little bit of whacking needed in the yard. After that, well, we shall see.
And, fair warning, you probably don’t want to be downwind of me…

Aaaaaand we’re home! Checked out of our accommodation by 10am after having a tidy round, washed the last dishes etc, stripped the bed and left the sheets and towels stacked in the kitchen. I’m paying them a cleaning fee, I should be doing it all myself
We drove round to the big supermarket which is all of two minutes away, parked the car and went in to get some essentials to keep us going until Tuesday’s normal grocery shopping night. Then walked into the town (another five minutes!) to a café where we got breakfast. After stuffing ourselves, we walked back to the car and stopped to get petrol and then started the journey home.
It should have taken just over 3.5hrs but the closure of a major bit of the route meant instead it took us nearly 5hrs to get back with slow traffic, roadworks and people generally driving like arseholes. Got home just in time to get parked on the drive before the football traffic started going the other way (usually manages to block our street and the surrounding ones for at least an hour). I’ve unpacked, topped up cat food, cleaned the litter trays (the catsitter spot cleaned them earlier but they’ve all been used), put groceries away, opened the windows for some fresh air, and put a load of laundry in. Blokie made us a cup of tea.
Dinner tonight will be chilli as I bought mince today and I can’t be bothered doing anything more complicated. Plus it will make enough for us to have leftovers on Tuesday.
Happy Sunday, everyone!

 that sounds like fun!
It’s trying to storm again. So pretty much it rained wvery day during vacation.
Welcomw back Boofae!
Was busy today. My friends with the new baby had an emergency washing machine disaster. It stopped working. With the little, they do laundry daily. So they bought a new washer. Now, the issue is that their set up had the washer and dryer tucked nicely under a countertop. However, new washers are 2 1/2" taller than old washers, so we had to raise the counter.
It’s granite, and about 6 feet long. Once we finally got the thing unstuck from the glue, I could go underneath and lift one end with my back, stuff some temporary legs under it, raise the cleats and set it back down. Prolly 300 lbs. I’m taaahrd.
You are a very good friend! Those new parents will forever cherish you, as they should.
Browsing BBC News, I saw this photo:
Participants at a training day held by the Washington State Department of Agriculture pest program at Birch Bay State Park, learn how to deal with invasive Asian giant hornets - also known as “murder hornets” - which threaten native bee and wasp populations in the US.
Yep, where we live was mentioned by the BBC. Wouldn’t be unusual if I still lived in L.A., but who’s heard of Birch Bay?
(ETA: They look like some kind of bizarre Teletubbies.)
Glad you didn’t have to evacuate taters. I hope that you find a pile of poo when you check the yard.
Sounds like you had fun on your trip boofae.
You were indeed a good friend VanGo.
I got the usual chores done and the housekeeping in the studio is complete. I’m starting an embroidery diversion this evening.
Not much to report as Sunday winds down. I was going to walk downtown, but I kept finding small tasks that needed doing and didn’t get out the door. I’m wondering if I should still go or postpone until tomorrow. Got the weekly call from one of my chilluns, so one more to look forward to.
Can’t recall if I mentioned this before, but my neighbor is moving. The rent is igoing way up, and she can’t afford it any more, so she’s moving into…an ambulance. I guess it’ll be like a tiny house??
VanGo, may all the good you do others return to you tenfold.
BooFae, I love that you refer to your hubs as “Blokie.”
Which one’s Stingy-Thingy?
Only in the MMP….
Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and I got pulled into duty as non-cannibal Lector and Crucifer due to illness of those who were to do so. I don’t mind that however. I mean, I’d be there anyways so might as well be useful, right? We also had a good N.O,L. and achieved nappage. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Also, it’s just started rainin’.
Taters may you find a big steamin’ pile of Polar poop in the yahd soonest. Like Boo said, only in the MMP!
Dinner was pesto salmon from Costco and asparagus. I’m having cabernet sauvignon. (I don’t know what Mrs. L.A. is having.) Man, I love that fish! I’ll have to try making my own.
Poke loin in in the oven, having a Negroni. Vacation was nice, although kinda boring when I didn’t have projects and chores to do.
Good job for helping your friend, though.
Let’s hope shit happens, then.
Evening all. Outside of solving two Sudoku’s, two Jumbles and a Crossword puzzle and watching the Cleveland Browns play tackleball, it has not been a productive day. Decided to get outside to eat, went to a place called “Wayback Burgers”, which were adequate. Outside of that nothing much to report.
Taters, I’ll join the chorus rooting for a Polar BM.
VanGo, nice of you to help out, but hope your back isn’t aching tomorrow.
boo fae, welcome back!
FCM, it will get cooler up Merryland way; just takes a little longer these days.
Ok, that’s as much fun as I can report for tonight. All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.
were going to lose our very (20 years) senior kitty soon… shes’s been gently heading that way for the last year or so but we think she had a stroke last night because the back half of her body goes sideways when she tries to walk … and for a cat nicknamed squeaky it takes some effort for her to meow …which she gets pissed off about …I don’t think shes going to make the week although if she does it will be out of stubborn/orneriness
She was a literal alley cat who followed my cousin because the mom wasn’t around when she opened her eyes and barely let anyone touch her fir the irst year or so… i made friends with her because she loves the top of the dryer and I made a point of petting her every time I took out the clothes … with her older sister gone 2-3 years ago this will be one of a very few times I m not living with a black cat …
