By the end of Jan 1 we were on pace for 4 per day or ~1400 per year. By the 13th we’re down to 9/13 days or merely ~252 for the year.
Evidently the US is rapidly gaining control of its mass murder problem. Keep that up and the last killing of 2024 that meets Paul’s criteria ought to be in early Feb.
If only I wasn’t kidding. We really are a mess of a country.
It all depends on how you view the situation. Based on my definition of a “mass killing”, which is 100 homicides or more in one incident by the same person, we had ZERO mass killings in all of 2023. Doesn’t that sound much better?
I haven’t seen this one mentioned. Four dead in Reedley California. Seventeen year old shooter charged with homicide, two others with accessory to homicide.
OK, a new #2, and a new #8. Excuse me if I just give you the whole thing agani;

Details are still very unclear. I suppose there is no hurry to make announcements since there is no danger to the public. I am frankly unclear on when this happened. Take a look;
EL MIRAGE, Calif. – Arrests have been made several days after six bodies were found in a remote desert area near the San Bernardino County community of El Mirage, authorities said Monday.
Few details were immediately released about the development in the case, a homicide investigation that has left lingering questions about the causes of death and the identities of the deceased.
