Matt Damon is Captain Kirk!

Oh no! They got Hollywood in my Star Trek!

Kirk: Will Smith
Spock: Jeff Goldblum
McCoy: Tom Hanks

That sounds…kinda good to me.

with Bruce Willis and Jackie Chan as Klingons

:dubious:

I’ll go see it even if Rosie, The Donald, and Paris Hilton play the leads. It’s TREK.
I’m sure I’ll find plenty to complain about, tho, regardless of what happens. I am a charter member of The Nitpicking Guild, after all. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can think of another exception. I think Christian Bale as Batman in Batman Begins was far superior to any of the other choices in the previous movies, and he breathed some much needed new life into the series.

In ‘The Making of Star Trek’, DC Fontana Herself says that Amanda is 58 years old at the time of JtB, and I believe Spock is supposed to be around 35, the same age as Kirk. Sarek was obviously a cradle-robber :stuck_out_tongue: although I’ve seen fanfics wherein Amanda had already started her Nobel-prize winning work on the Universal Translator by then.

IRL Mark Lenard was only six years older than Nimoy. ^ :dubious: ^

Thanks.

And Pernell Roberts was older than Loren Greene.

If Amanda was 23 at the time Spock was born, how does that make Sarek a “cradle-robber”?

Especially since Sarek would have been only about 67 years old at the same time. There have been countless human relationships with the same kind of age difference. And since Vulcans age more slowly than humans, Sarek would have had the vitality of a human half his age.

And a pointy penis shooting green sperm.

Perhaps we should confine ourselves to rhetorical questions of the sort, “Are Vulcan pimples green?”

My husband and I were playing a game of casting all the rest of the parts for Star Trek yesterday, and we came up with this:
Rosario Dawson for Uhura.
James Kyson Lee (Ando from “Heroes”) for Sulu.
Shia LaBeouf for Checkhov.
Ewan MacGregor for Scotty (natch).

I don’t disagree with a single one of those! Especially James Kyson Lee…mmm!

Good news/bad news - we just saw that Daniel Dae Kim has been picked to play Sulu. Sad that it’s not James Kyson Lee, happy that it’s Daniel Dae Kim - that is a seriously good-lookin’ man.

I would love to see Kevin Pollak as Kirk. Pollak credits Shatner with the invention of pause acting.

I was thinking the very same thing. Pollak is a great impressionist. I saw him do the entire bridge crew of the Enterprise in one of his stand up routines, so maybe Paramount can save money by just hiring him.

That the one where he does Spock as Rev. Jim from *Taxi{/i]? It’s freakin brilliant!

Maurice LeMarche did a routine with Rev. Jim when Star Trek 3 came out, and Christopher Lloyd played the Klingon baddie.

Source of info?

He said he was on some sort of official Star Trek site - I don’t recall which one. Doing a little research, I can’t find a confirmation. I’ll ask him where he found it when he gets in and post a link. It might be just a rumour rather than an official announcement.
