As far as I know, this ep. has something to do with Scanlon’s past. And that’s all I’m going to say for now. See you later…
Hmmph. At least you got to see it. We had thunderstorm after thunderstorm here around Tulsa, so the satellite kept going out. By the time the ending came, I had no idea what was going on. Someone give me a summary of what happened ! Please!
It delved into Scanlon’s seedy past. I think the director went to lengths to show how much grimier his existence is than Allison’s. Sorry, no time for a full summary here at work.
Scanlon belongs to a support group for people trying to remain drug-free.
I had a headache at the time so my memory is fuzzy, but I remember him beating the crap out of a guy, at the end of the show, for having killed a woman who was involved in some sort of drug deal…? Somebody please correct this if I got it wrong.
There were also some disturbing scenes of women who had been “drug mules” who were killed and their eyes had been gouged out.
On a lighter note, Ariel gave a presentation in class that earned her an A+ that she didn’t think she really deserved. When she spoke to the teacher about the boy she thought should have gotten it, Ariel saw two sides of him at the same time. One side praised her, while the other side insulted the boy cruelly. It was as if she were seeing inside the teacher instead of just hearing what came out of his mouth. She’s picked up some abilities from mom, obviously.
Funny line from Bridget: “That’s not food. It’s fruit!” (She didn’t want fruit for a snack.)
The woman was his ex-fiance who was part of a (Columbian? definitely South American) drug cartel; she didn’t tell him about it, he found out then broke off their relationship. She came back to talk to him about the mules who were killed, they were hers. As it turned out, one of the women wasn’t a mule, it was an undercover cop who found incriminating evidence that another cop she and Scanlon worked with was dirty. Green, I think. He was the one that shot Scanlon’s ex, Scanlon then beat him bloody.
The dreams Allison was having about Scanlon were extremely disturbing. I have no idea why, they weren’t graphic, they just gave me the creeps.
She ended up turning down the prize of the trip to the state legislature, and invited the kid she felt should have won home to dinner.
Thank you for fleshing this out.
I thought this was rather a weak episode. They’ve always made so much of the fact that Allison’s dreams and visions are for a purpose; she wouldn’t have them if she wasn’t supposed to somehow do something about them. Yet in this episode she didn’t really seem to do much other than be an onlooker. I think the writers had a slow day.
