Literally — a couple times the OW has had to move without her glasses; dust in the eye and an eye wash or something. Once “fixed” someone else has to return her specs because she has NO chance of finding them (or anything else) on her own. My base issue was cross-eyed so if I close one eye and squint with the remaining one I can actually walk somewhere and only get a bruise or two.
Let me know if you find anything. We have left our room open for the cats for years, except for night, when they can be annoying when we’re trying to sleep. Just recently the one has started this “pee on the bed” thing. I miss the little snuggle brats.
OK - I can’t support the notion that ice cream and fruit are snacking equals, but congratulations to you on your success!
8 for me too. At the time kids were NOT kind about it. Little bastards. I’m glad it’s not a big thing anymore.
It’s nice to be able to share the family history with family. Good for you for sharing the knowledge. A big chunk of my family history is out in Iowa and there’s some out in Tennessee. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to show the kids around that part of things. They were 5th generation CA kids, so I was able to share some of that past with them. Things like the cemetery where their great-great-grandparents are buried. They’re young enough that it’s like visiting a museum. (“Can we go now?” :p)
Got a few hours of sleep and then got the kids off to school. I’m supposed to be cleaning the house for MiL arrival on Friday, but I feel like crap. Blurf, IOW. Think I’ll just head back to bed.
I’ve worn glasses since high school. Nowadays I can see maybe only five inches in front of me without them. So I have a very strong glasses prescription - they’re like the vodka of glasses.
Cheap chawklit score at the gas station. A twin pack of Reese Easter eggs for 45 cents. I bought two–1 for me and 1 for the barn manager. I may stop in again tomorrow…
Guess bad eyes is a Mumper trait; got my first pair of spectacles when I was 7 and the first bifocals at 34, and if I always carry a spare pair when I travel, because I would be helpless without them (may be time to start carrying an old set in my car).
Stayed in bed until 8am because (1) I was tired and (2) I’m retired. Now need to freshen up and decide if I mow the lawn today or tomorrow.
And from the other page - missred, my band is on YouTube, though there’s only one video so far with me in it. It’s of a rehearsal (and in French) of a piece newly-written for us, that might sound a bit odd if you’re not used to that kind of music, though I like the music.
I’m the girl in the dark blue shirt and ponytail. You can only see me from the back.
And the lawn is mowed (rain is threatened tonight, Thursday and Friday), just waiting now until it’s time to head out to the soccer fields for the boys’ practice.
Waiting for my sweetie to get home - he’s not usually this late. I haven’t started supper because I don’t know if he’ll even want to eat. I suppose we could do grilled cheese sammiches.
I found a unicorn today–a pair of nice slacks that fit me perfectly right off the rack! I won’t even have to hem them up!:eek:
I also found some dill and German thyme which are now hanging out in the rapidly-expanding herb garden. The way the lemon balm, sage, and catnip are looking, I’m going to have to start cutting and drying in another couple of weeks.
I wish I wasn’t getting up that early.
I took a nap and I’m not happy about it. I wanted to break that sleep cycle, but I was tired.
I’m still tired, and grumpy.
Fleas and ticks are two good reasons Alien. I was going to say my cat never bothers me when I am sleeping, but today he made me a liar. When I was napping he came over and clawed my leg because he wanted attention. He got it alright, but not the kind he was looking for. Just a few minutes ago I was sitting in the kitchen petting him and I guess because I was reading the cooking instructions on the back of a box instead of looking at him, he sat up and sunk his claws into my ass.
I was not amused.
Years ago, back when coke caps were metal, my cats used to fish them out of the trashcan and carry them upstairs so they could bat the around the bathtub while I was trying to sleep. Noisy little brats.
Isn’t 52 rather low for blood sugar?
Well, Adam looks sad now and I feel bad for yelling at him.
The dog thinks cooking up chicken for him is a fine idea! He’d eat the whole potful if I’d let him.
He stayed outside for a long time this morning. I think it was a bit chilly but then he’s wearing a fur coat so I probably felt nice for him. We had trouble getting him in again, but once we got him onto the deck he was ready. It’s only two steps up but those two steps seem to be a challenge for him. I’m looking at ramps but I haven’t found anything I think will work. If he wasn’t so stubborn he could walk around to the patio and then it is only a half step up to the deck. I think we’ll work on getting him to go that way.
It’s so chilly today that I have been thinking about turning the heat on.
Sah-son made all A’s again. He was a little worried about Biotech, but she finally graded his work and he went from a low A (91) to a strong A (97).
I can relate. I started school with glasses, had bifocals at 20 and trifocals at 45. Ther only period that I didn’t wear them was in high school when I got old school hard contacts.
I hope your foot feels better soon big kitty.
Happy anniversary sunny and happy birthday Beamer.
Alien, I hope that you had a Mexican coke or big glass of OJ for breakfast!
swampy, cemetery tours and oral history is a thing that my dad does with my cousin and me when I go up in the summer. He doesn’t get out of the truck much any more, but he takes us to the stones and ancestral dwellings and tells us some of the history.
emily, I like the sample!
We had a meeting today to announce a shift transfer between two of our department members and a transfer to another department (it’s an upgrade) for another. It also came with an invitation to lunch at the Mexican place down the street tomorrow, when I’ll be leaving at 11 for a dental appointment and another cow-orker leaving for a doctor’s appointment. :dubious:
Rained like hell today, frogs drowning right and left. Fortunately it waited until I got back from lunch. Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) found some tenderloin in the used meat drawer. I braved the rain to grill it, and we ate it with Swampy’s favorite, Brussels sprouts and onions fried in bacon grease.
I found out I needed glasses when I failed the eye exam to get my driver’s license. I wore contacts for a number of years and I don’t know what happened but I didn’t need them anymore.
I had to get reading glasses a few years ago, damn near killed me to admit I needed them.
I passed the eye exam without glasses 2 years ago when I renewed my license, but I expect that I won’t pass the next one in 2020.
Maybe by then Sah-son will have his license and he can drive me around for a change.
I don’t know what the hell is wrong the cat, I’m sitting here with a bloody knee. I was petting him but I guess that wasn’t good enough because he swiped me with his claws. That’s three times in one day.
**FCD **got home a little after 7. We’re watching the Nationals play, and I’m about to crawl into bed with Mel, since I didn’t get much sleep last night. <yawn>
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but you dun good, Flytwerp.
I got injured the beginning of last summer & was laid up for almost six months. I was given the green light to start walking (then running) at the beginning of the year. I was in the park today for the first time in three weeks. Man, does it look different with all the green & leaves & Spring! A couple of times, despite being on a trail I’ve been on a number of times this year, I thought I was lost as it looks so different now & it’s been almost a whole year since I was last there when it was green.
